When we saw Keri Hilson last week at the Los Angeles premiere of Takers, we immediately noticed her amazing manicure. Her black and white outfit coordinated with her striped nails perfectly! It's the little things, you know? And giving your nails that little bit of extra flavor is just enough to set you apart. "Stripes can be just as interesting on nails as a bright, neon color," says Kristina Estabrooks, manicurist and Creative Nail Design (CND) ambassador. Want to get striped nails of your own? See below for how to do it.
GET THE LOOK ...
Apply a clear base coat to each nail.
For Keri's blue, swipe two thin coats of an opaque powder-blue polish to each nail, like O.P.I.'s What's With The Cattitude ($8.49 at HairCareChoices.com). Or, for a more universal look, try flat white polish, like CND's Studio White ($9 at BeBeautiful.com), says Estabrooks. Allow each coat to dry for two to three minutes before applying the next.
Brush on a quick dry top coat to avoid dragging the black over the white. Try: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat ($7.99 at Drugstore.com).
Using Stripe Rite Paint in Black ($3.50 at SallyBeauty.com), swipe a thin line down one side of each nail and allow to dry for two to three minutes.
Finish with another coat of quick dry top coat.
Enjoy your stripes!
