Just when we were starting to grow a little weary of the whole summer braid trend, Heather Morris (one of our favorite Glee star because the GIRL CAN DANCE!) shows up at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards with this braided glory. Why is it so great? Celebrity stylist Sherri Jessee says: "The great thing about this look is that it's so easy to do and it's intentionally textured so every hair doesn't have to be in place." Here's how to recreate the look yourself.
GET THE LOOK:
Apply a dollop of mousse like Rusk Plumping Mousse ($12.75, amazon.com) into dry hair and blast it with a blow dryer for 15 seconds. If you have super-fine hair, throw your hair into hot rollers for 10 minutes to pump up the volume.
Next, create two braids — one on each side of your head — just in front of the ear and below temple. Secure the ends of the braids with small rubber bands, like Scuni's mini rubber bands ($3.99, CVS.com), and let them hang down. You will come back to them in a minute!
Using your fingers, rake your remaining hair loosely back. Twist it into a messy bun, securing it with a covered elastic band and a few bobby pins.
Now it's time to tackle those braids: Take the the two braids and cross them over the top of your head, milk maid-style, pinning them into place.
If you have bangs like Heather, smooth them with a flat iron. Then mist all over with a firm holding hairspray like L'Oreal Elnett Strong Hold Hairspray ($13.99, target.com).
