The newly single Vanessa Hudgens celebrated her 22nd birthday sans her ex-BF Zac Efron in Las Vegas on Dec. 18. For the bash, the actress teamed a sparkly Pleasure Doing Business With You bandage dress ($242, singer22.com) with a silver Elizabeth and James clutch, black Yves Saint Laurent pumps and tousled strands. But what really caught our attention was Vanessa's marble-y metallic mani. It looked so unique and mysterious that we had to do some digging to figure out how to re-create it.

STEP 1: Fill a bowl with room temperature water.
STEP 2: Paint all of your nails in a dark shade like CND Black Jack ($9, bebeautiful.com). After they've dried completely, apply cuticle oil around one nail up to the first knuckle. Also, put some of the oil on the pad of your finger to protect the skin from getting polish on it.
STEP 3: Choose three or four metallic nail polish shades, like Orly Nail Lacquer in Glitz ($7.50, orlybeauty.com) or NailEZEE polish in Deco Drive ($8, nailezee.com). Put a drop of each color into the water, one on top of the other. Then, with a toothpick comb through the color to create swirls.
STEP 4: Place the finger into the swirled polish, palm side up; dip and pull away through the water. With your finger in the water, take the toothpick to pull away any excess color.
STEP 5: Pull your finger out and use a Q-tip dipped into nail polish remover to clean the polish off of the skin around your nail. Repeat this process with your other fingers.
