New York Fall 2011 Fashion Week has officially wrapped, but not without leaving some fierce trends in its wake. From beautiful braids to mix-and-match prints, these are the fall trends that got our attention. Confession: We’re seriously contemplating jumping the gun and wearing these hot looks NOW. What? Is that a problem?
DEEP TEAL: Pantone wasn’t joking when they said that deep teal would be the go-to hue for Fall 2011. Dozens of designers including Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, and Rachel Roy incorporated the ocean-invoking shade into their collections. What we noticed: It’s a color that works on every skin tone.

WILD PRINTS: Prints in fall aren’t really anything shocking, but hyper mixing and matching them like Anna Sui, Rebecca Taylor, Betsey Johnson did is definitely something new. The colorful look is bold and brazen—wallflowers need not apply.

HIGH NECKLINES: Turtlenecks sort of fell off the radar over the last few years, but they are back in a big way. Everyone from Christian Siriano and BCBG Max Azria to Tommy Hilfiger showed the topper on the runway this week, teaming it with flowing dresses and draping skirts.

'70S INSPIRED: Tory Burch, Anna Sui, and Marc By Marc Jacobs flaunted their ‘70s inspired looks—fluffy furs, oversize shades, and bow-collared blouses—on the runway. Do you dig it, foxy?

BRAIDS WITH A TWIST: As for hair, woven locks were the popular pick. But not just any old French braid would do for these designers. Erin Fetherston interlaced metallic thread into braided crowns, a Mara Hoffman showed fat side braids, and Charlotte Ronson’s plaits were tiny and hidden at the nape of her models’ necks.
