Giddy off the whimsy, friendship, and Americana of Independence Day, we floated through July in a cloud spun from sno-cones and glitter and summer dreams, and so it seems August has finally snuck up on us. Here it is, guys. Soak in this last month before school starts back up, before the leaves change colors and the air turns crisp. Start kissing the summer (and the flings that have probably come with it) goodbye. But MOST importantly, bust out all your brights and neons out in full-force this month while there's still time to rock them! Take a cue from fash-forward Ashlee Simpson, the lovely Amber Stevens, and designer Cynthia Rowley, and wear the color on your feetses.
Ashlee Simpson arrived at the lia sophia industrielle II collection launch event last Tuesday wearing an easy-fitting tied leopard print Mara Hoffman dress styled with a black circular Chanel wristlet, heaps of lia sophia jewelry in the forms of rings, bangles, and red pendant necklace...which of course matched her ruby red cage gladiator sandals.
At the same event, Amber Stevens wore head-to-toe Zara, in one of the brand's hallmark tulip dresses paired with lime green sueded platform heels. But Amber didn't stop there. Holding on to summer by the skin of her teeth, she finished off her look with a pink pedicure that defied all logic by being even brighter than her already very neon dress.
If an all-over colorful look isn't for you, follow in the footsteps of Cynthia Rowley who isolated the saturation to her shoes while keeping it neutral above-the-knee. Worn with a drapey nude shift dress and an understated tribal animal tooth necklace, her tomato red peeptoes (from the lady's very own 2012 Resort Collection!) POP without triggering headaches for innocent bystanders. Even better, you can employ the same philosophy for casual wear, pairing loud sandals with a simple tee and denim outfit.
