Get Taylor Swift's strapless red dress look.

To say the least, it's a pretty good time to be Taylor Swift, from snagging a slew of top honors (Billboard's Woman of the Year, the American Music Awards' Artist of the Year, and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra's Harmony Award just to name a FEW) to the launch of her first fragrance, Wonderstruck, to dueting with just about every hot pop star of the moment. And out of the spotlight, the life and times of T.Swift are just as prolific, with the recent acquisition of her adorbz cat, Meredith (which may or may not have also directly spurned our own cat-obsession at the MTV offices) to rumors of a new leading man, to opting into one of our favorite hair makeovers of the year. And now, today is TAY's DAY! The flaxen-hair songbird turns 22 today, and in honor of her personal holiday, we have a very special T.Swift-inspired "Get The Look." Imitation, after all, is the sincerest form of flattery, right?
It's got to be stressful knowing you'll be photographed every moment of your waking life. Some celebrities respond to the pressure by giving in to comfort, taking back their lives, and being relegated to "Stars They're Just Like Us" columns of tabloids by near-exclusively wearing jeans, cashmere wraps, and Uggs while schlepping around Best Buy bags. Others swing violently to the other, battier side of the spectrum, upping the ante each time to dip themselves in progressively bananas ensembles, and and it's to those folks that we clink our drinks and tip our hats because they actually give us something to talk about. So in celebration of head-to-toe candy raver outfits, zip-up down-filled cactus cowls, rabid blood-dipped bird head ornaments, and wearing a big-ass sheet to the Met gala, we bring you The Most Outrageous Outfits of 2011.
ANNA DELLO RUSSO IN A SQUAWKING SWAN HEADPIECE
Anna Dello Russo at the Irreverent Dinner hosted by Carine Roitfeld on Oct. 4, 2011, in Paris, France.
Anna Dello Russo is the editor-at-large at Vogue Nippon and one of our favorites for obvious reasons. Look it, this bish is out of her treeeeee! While I didn't necessarily love this taxidermied lunatic bird mere weeks before on the runway at Giles Deacon during London Fashion Week (in fact, it topped my list of WTF Headgear From London Fashion Week) this ruffled avian flu bomb appearing atop an equally scrawny, akimbo-armed Anna sorta made my day. It's hilarious. It honestly looks like some couture-wearing parasitic insect laid an egg in the swan and now Anna, its merciless offspring clawing out of its underbelly with a triumphant, s***-eating grin and $1,200 shoes. It's fantastic.
Carey Mulligan posing on a balcony at the Chateau Marmont in L.A. for "W" magazine.

We're still a year away from what is sure to be a beguiling spectacle of cinematic style thanks to the forthcoming adaptation of The Great Gatsby, but that doesn't mean we can't start emulating Carey Mulligan now. It seems like every designer was clamoring to get a Gatsby reference into their spring 2012 show (like Ralph Lauren and Alice + Olivia), especially when it was announced that Miss Mulligan would be playing the titular role of Daisy Buchanan, who happens to know her way around many a fashionable 1920s frock. But Mulligan has a role in a new movie, Shame, of which she shows a less-than-angelic side to her acting self, and W magazine captures this edgier, more modern character in its January 2012 issue. We happen to think this Mulligan look is very now, and not just because it's all about L.A. cool. Oh, no, we're down with this "W" spread because of the presence of one adorable accessory...a CHIPMUNK.
Justin Bieber and Rihanna both rock onesies.

The internet is truly a magical place. Apart from the ease and speed it brings to disseminating information and images and kitten videos, it also shatters some sort of unholy social barrier, allowing people to post the most random, potentially embarrassing ish to public forums with no greater consequence than a Kanye shrug. Imagine, for instance, if this world wide web didn't exist. Would you still consider tacking a picture of yourself in long underwear to your front door? Your local community bulletin board? Probably not. And yet, in these progressive digital times, it's perfectly acceptable for Justin Bieber and Rihanna to upload images of themselves clad in skintight onesies to the interwebz.
OK, let's be real for a second: When have you seen a Christmas-themed manicure that you ACTUALLY wanted to recreate on your own? Probaabbbllyy close to never. And you know what? It's not your fault! Red and green just don't mix well with everyone's wardrobe, and we're tired of the same ol' presents with bows or kooky reindeer or Santa's ginormo face (no diss to Father Christmas) on our fingertips. We want something new—and not sososo over-the-top obvious and cheesy. Alas, there are solutions out there! We stumbled upon some great holiday nail art that we wouldn't mind getting our hands on ASAP. Just peep those hot tips above! A super shiny red and black ruffian manicure with gold rhinestones is the perfect way to look totally fierce at a holiday party without screaming, "IT'S CHRISTMAS TIIMMEEE, Y'ALL."
Hello Kitty for 'Elle' Taiwan.

What is it about Mondays that makes them the soul-cracking blackhole of the week? You convince yourself you're doing it right: have a restful weekend, wake up at the first alarm, prepare yourself for a good start, and so quickly, all of that falls apart, sending your day into a tailspin FECUND with accidents and misfortune. You can't find your keys (they're in the door), your train is late (or you are), you get to work and realize you have a run in your tights the size of the Mississippi River. Basically, your life is an Alanis Morissette song (specifically one from the era immediately after dating Uncle Joey from Full House). That is until RIGHT NOW. Chin up, Debbie Downer, because Elle Taiwan put Hello Kitty on double covers for their December issue, and no amount of bad Monday juju can eff with that.
The ladies of K-Pop mega band 2NE1.
OK, stop what you're doing right now. We're serious. Are you aware that today is one gigantic celebration of EPIC proportions? Do you know that this afternoon (or evening or NIGHT, depending on where you are) marks the culmination of MTV Iggy's global search for the 2011 Best New Band in the World? And, more importantly, that the winner of this year's search is the totally bonkers bananas crazy face AMAZING K-Pop girl band 2NE1? You should either A) be screaming at this point like we are, B) lined up outside MTV's Times Square headquarters also screaming, or C) about to click on this link right here to catch the livestream of the MTV Iggy Best New Band Live concert (4:00 p.m. ET) to scream while watching 2NE1 make their stateside debut. Did we mention that the triumphant girl power representin' in this band—courtesy of members Minzy, CL, Dara, and Bom—is all wrapped up in some of the most sensational style you've ever seen this side of the Atlantic? Oh, and that these girls love themselves some Jeremy Scott? Whewww, we've got some catchin' UP to do.
Jessie J at T4 Stars of 2011 in London and Pharrell Williams at Art Basel in Miami.

It could just be a case of the Mondays, but we think we're seeing double. Either that or the style gods have decreed that military hats and cutoff shorts are the latest in attention-grabbing garb at events. Both Jessie J and Pharrell Williams wore almost the exact same ensemble recently—namely a military hat with DIY adornments, a T-shirt, cutoff jean shorts, and combat boots—yet tweaked to their appropriate genders and tastes. Could Jessie have been influenced by Pharrell's look, which he sported TWICE at Art Basel in Miami a few weeks ago? Or are military hats making a comeback and these two just happened get on the trend train a tad early? And what about this shorts situation...in winter?! We have so many questions but, most of all, we want to know this: Who wore the DIY military hat and cutoff jean short combo better?
Miley Cyrus wears two gold dresses in one weekend.
Photo: Getty Images
Usually when we drop a "Who Wore It Better?", we call out to you, MTV Style readers, for preferential guidance by pitting two celebs clad in super similar outfits (or even the very same piece) against each other for our own enjoyment. This edition is a little different. We're narrowing our focus slightly with this go-around, strapping gloves onto actress/songstress/music royalty Miley Cyrus against...HERSELF! Miley had a busy weekend hitting up two inspirational soirees in a pair of gold/nude floor-length gowns. Sure, she styles them differently, but at the end of the day, these long flowy frocks are pretty undeniably sims.
