Our hearts explode when we see the PERFECT combination of music and fashion, so when we discovered punk rockers Green Day would be the new face of John Varvatos' spring campaign, we were MORE than thrilled. We cannot get enough of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool decked out in high-fashion duds, but it's no surprise that John decided to go with a rocker edge when it comes to his campaigns. Green Day joins a long list of rock groups and musicians (think: The Roots, Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper, and Iggy Pop) who have posed for the menswear brand. Here, Billie Joe sports a military band jacket (like Justin Bieber!) and distressed denim tucked into lace-up boots with wild bleach-blonde hair. Tre Cool looks casual-chic in his open peacoat and laceless shoes ensemble, and Mike Dirnt goes a bitttt more classy in a long equestrian jacket and leather boots.
The campaign, shot by Danny Clinch, features Green Day modeling on some crossbeams over Manhattan, which references Philippe Petit's Man on Wire act. Creative director of Yard Stephen Niedzweicki told WWD, "We were moved by Man on Wire, where a man traverses a tightrope illegally rigged between the World Trade Center's Twin Towers, 110 stories up. It's portrayed in such an inspiring and beautiful way, but there's so much danger and rebellion involved. It's also incredibly rock 'n' roll to go to any lengths to have the best view of New York City—and to be so high." Yikesies! Check out more images from the campaign below.
