Avril Lavigne is a busy young entrepreneur. Aside from maintaining a successful singing career, she designs her own Abbey Dawn line, which made its New York Fashion Week debut last September. Oh, and she has a "magical" fragrance line and super cool Sally Hansen nail strip collection too, just in case you wanna tip yourself out in sk8er boy flavas or checkerboard digits. Since her NYFW show, which featured Kylie Jenner on the runway, fans have been eagerly anticipating her line of skull T-shirts, watermelon slice dresses, and stars-n-stripes pullovers, which are finally available. To celebrate the launch, Miss Lavigne gathered her closest pals, including mega-leatha'd Taylor Momsen, to a soiree at the Viper Room—a fitting location for a rock and roll style 'splosion.
We haven't seen Miss Momsen since she sideswiped us in lace at New York Fashion Week looking all ladylike and toned down from her usual raccoon-eyed bacchanalia of leather. But there she was at the Abbey Dawn launch looking even more sinisterly rock and roll than ever with ink black eyes, matching lips, mega long blonde extensions, a ubiquitous leather jacket, and a pair of seriously SERIOUS leather pants complete with laces all the way up her legs and a rather questionable zipper. Even though this is not your typical red carpet ensemble, Momsen's a musician now and focused on that side of her career. (Goodbye, Gossip Girl...FOREVA.) But at least she's giving us something dramatic here and staying true to her rock star cred.
Avril also kicked it up in all-black wearing threads from her line, of course. She paired a long striped sweatshirt dress with a stars 'n' stripes moto jacket, black leggings, and black crisscross heels. Pieces from the spring collection have begun to roll in on her website, and we have a feeling the sailor tees and aforementioned watermelon dress are gonna go fast. Did we mention she even designed prom-friendly dresses?
