It's Upfront season! What in the heck does this mean? Well, it's the time of year when TV networks celebrate which of their shows are returning as well as reveal new shows for their upcoming seasons. If you're a weirdly rabid TV watcher (HI) then this is super happy fun times with surprise pudding and sprinkles on top and even more so when it involves ABC Family. The stars of the network, namely Shailene Woodley of The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Lucy Hale of mega hit Pretty Little Liars, and Chelsea Kane of the upcoming series Baby Daddy were all a part of the happy hoopla and even started their own with the choice to wear pants. We mean trousers. (Same diff, really, but in other parts of the world, "pants" mean something else entirely...Google it.) Still, TROUSERS! With bright colors! This is a new thing, right?
Pants/trousers aren't anything new at all, obvs, it's just that we don't see them being worn very often unless they're of the skinny jean, jegging, or silk variety. But these gals are rockin' full-on lady pants, and, strangely, they're totally pulling it off. Shailene Woodley paired her bright pink silk top with somewhat conservative black pants (both by Honor), but the entire ensemble is sleek and vaguely '70s. There's a relaxed elegance to everything that is punctuated by her sleek hair and minimal makeup. Lucy Hale wore a bright blue Rebecca Minkoff suit with a crème crochet top and looked like the polar opposite of her spunky, accessory-loving character Aria on Liars. Still, there's something very cool California young lady about this outfit that we like, and our only criticism is that the pants be shortened juuuuust a bit.
Chelsea Kane is new to the ABC Family fam (remember her from Jonas on the Disney channel??), and she will soon be seen in Baby Daddy, which is about a twentysomething dude whose ex-girlfriend drops a baby on his doorstep. Kane plays his best friend Riley, and we have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more of her in the coming year. She's already exhibiting stellar red carpet style with these hot pink trousers and orange shirt—a difficult color combo to pull off, but she does so beautifully. Bonus points on the correct length of trou, and for waving.
