We tune in to Saturday Night Live pretty much every week (at least whenever they air a new episode, and the weekend's team-up of the equal parts gorgeous and hilarious Sofia Vergara on hosting duties with burgeoning boy band One Direction as the musical guest was definitely an ep we were antcipating with bated breath. While we would have been perfectly content just seeing the boys grace the stage in their go-to collegiate coordinates, Lorne and the SNL team had an extra special style Easter egg for us this holiday weekend: a MAJOR One Direction makeover!!
As was expected, the SNL team used thick-accented host Sofia as an excuse to employ the recurring Manuel Ortiz Show sketch wherein Fred Armisen hosts a Maury-esque eponymously named talk show for Television Dominicana. Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn, and Niall are made over with crunchy curly wigs, full mustaches, and tropics-inspired versions of their typical One Direction garb. Harry and Zayn are clad in blazers but over vibrant multi-colored prints. Niall rocks an ultra-NARANJA cardigan, Liam works mixed prints, and while the flowery mint-hued button-up is a new look for Louis, he doesn't skimp on the suspenders. In our opinino, the effect was a shocking-meets-hilarious homerun for the boys and the sketch, but we want to know what you think! Do you like One Direction's SNL style transformation?
