Rihanna commanded the stage at SNL in two streetwear-inspired looks.
She may have skipped the “Shy Ronnie” comedy skits this time around, but Rihanna still made a seriously stylish splash on SNL this weekend with two awesome musical performances. In true pop star fashion, the singer pulled out all the stops, jamming in front of a massive crystallized spider web for the opening song “Birthday Cake,” which quickly morphed into her thumping track “Talk That Talk.” Decked-out in an oversized sheer black tee, hot shorts, and over-the-knee boots, the singer’s first look was topped off with a studded baseball cap…in other words, streetwear-heavy pieces we need to add to our closets immediately.
Her second performance, the slinky, sultry new single “Where Have You Been,” channeled Arabian Nights with an Egyptian backdrop and Rihanna as queen, sprawled out royally across the massive bed centerpiece and surrounded by shirtless dudes. But obviously she didn’t stay there for long, and we're happy about that--once RiRi started dancing we could finally obsess over her outfit, an embellished miniskirt paired with a cropped black sweater and tons of rattling bangle bracelets. Yeah, this is one ‘90s throwback we can all get behind.
What did you think of Rihanna’s SNL performance- and more importantly, the clothes? Let us know if third time’s the charm!
