She's been teasing us via Twitter for the past few weeks, but last night Taylor Swift finally spilled her big news she's been hinting about in an online chat... and it's a triple whammy! She announced that her fourth album, Red, will drop October 22, and it'll be followed shortly by a massive world tour (start scouting tickets now!). But as awesome as all this is, it's not even the best part- she also debuted her newest single, the breakup jam "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." She's traded her country roots for an irresistibly catchy pop anthem filled with relationship angst, overflowing with attitude, and- shocker- we've been singing it at our desks all morning. If "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is any indication, let's just say Taylor's all grown up... and newest album is bound to be seriously good. As for the title, she told Just Jared that "I called it Red because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles," Taylor said. "In my mind, when you experience love that’s fast-paced and out-of-control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions… in retrospect, it all looks red." That might be true, but Taylor's been seeing red fashion-wise, as well.
Just this summer the singer vamped it up in a burgundy gown from Paris fashion house Elie Saab, replete with chiffon and a daring lacy bodice. It's a dramatic look for Taylor, who we're used to seeing in uber-girly, neutral-colored frocks. Chalk it up to her recent VOGUE cover or her unexpected song collabs, but we're thrilled to see her branching out style-wise. Back in 2011 at the CMT Awards in Nashville, she sported her signature vintage-inspired look in a red-hot strapless frock by Porcelain, topped off the bright lips and a pin-up bob. Lastly, at 2011's Billboard Women in Music Awards, she opted for a showshopping cherry-hued Oscar de la Renta dress and nude pumps.

Considering how stunning Taylor looks in the color, it's totally perfect that she wore - what else?- red to announce her new Red album. Her 'Scallops Stripes' dress is available online right this second at Anthropologie (you're welcome!). So go ahead and buy it now...because given Taylor Swift's trendsetting track record, red just might be THE hottest color this fall.
