Full disclosure: we're total commitment-phobes. And no, we're not talking about relationships. Instead, we're feeling some serious indecision toward our closets- and more specifically, our skirts. Short, long, mini, maxi...we just CAN'T make up our minds. But luckily we don't have to! Designers are reaching some easy middle ground with the new shipment of midi skirts hitting stores and the runway, just in time for the cooler weather. With a cut that skims the calf, these breezy bottoms are just as flattering as they are versatile. So if you're not fully ready to go long or short (or just want to switch it up a bit), these midis are the perfect medium. Get proof of all the zillions of ways to rock them from our top bloggers below!
Amy of Wolf & Wood
Amy is a 22-year-old photographer from South Africa, who manages to make her purple midi skirt look simultaneously girly and tough with pieces like leather boots and a lace collar. We love how she's tucked in her striped top ever so slightly, to keep the rest of the outfit fresh, young, and not overly "done." It's an effortless cool effect she repeats constantly on her blog Wolf & Wood, which will give you enough outfit inspiration to last you all school-year long (you're welcome!).
Jessica of Jess Loves Fred
Blog: jesslovesfred.com. Twitter: @JessLovesFred.
Australian blogger Jessica shows that there's really NO such thing as too many polka dots with her spotty ensemble. She offsets the longer proportions of her thrifted black and white midi skirt with a cropped red and white bustier from Mink Pink. While she plays the matching game with red half-tint sunnies and black loafers, we love how her leopard-print clutch gives the ladylike outfit a pop of unexpected pattern.
Olivia of Olivia Emily
To put it mildly, we're a little (okay, a LOT) obsessed with the punky-cool way Olivia has styled her black illusion skirt. The English teenager paired her sheer SheInside bottoms with a tied, cropped sleeveless blouse. Whereas the outfit could easily sway into girly-girl territory, Olivia keeps things streetwise with round reflective Mink Pink sunglasses, black creepers, and a major red lip. Although the lacy socks give an extra jolt of femininity, this is a girl with some serious edge.
