Demi Lovato may be feeling the '90s vibes these days with chokers and grunge-inspired beauty, but she's not the ONLY one having a style flashback. Emma Watson worked her own take on a major '90s trend this week, showing up to a special screening of The Perks of Being a Wallflower in London wearing...a dress over pants. Yep, whether you like it or not- the look officially back! The trend has been slowly infiltrating the runways, with designers like Lanvin, Dries van Noten and Acne showing in the past, and was a big hit this season as well, thanks to Chris Benz and Diane Von Furstenberg, who paraded the layers down the catwalk for Spring 2013. Considering our girl Emma is always one to hop on the trends early, it's not REALLY that surprising that she's ahead of the game. But considering her love for structural minidresses by emerging designers (see: Brood), the choice to rock this Christian Dior Couture number IS a little unexpected.
She paired her flared strapless cocktail dress over straight black trousers- two pieces that we're used to wearing solo- and topped it all off with basic black heels. Maybe it's monochrome, maybe it's the pumps, or maybe it's because Emma Watson just oozes class, period, but the result is a decidedly polished version of the grungy staple. As eyecatching as she is on the red carpet, we're still on the fence about whether we're ready to take cues from the actress and pair these closet separates together IRL. Are YOU ready to bring the dress-over-pants look back? Or is it just too much? Tell us!
