It's football season, ya'll, and who better to kick it off than THE ultimate homecoming queen herself, Taylor Swift? The pop star lands the November cover of Rolling Stone magazine decked out the ultimate sporty-meets-collegiate duds, proving that you don't have to be a hardcore jock to get in on the trend. We first spotted the look on Taylor out and about in New York City about a month ago, and now we're glad to know the real reason behind her adorable outfit. Dressed in light brown shorts, tomboyish oxfords, and a basic white t-shirt under a killer varsity jacket, it's enough to convince ANYONE that these high school staples are back in fashion.
This fall is ALL about varsity blues, and as we know, there are tons of easy and affordable options to copy the look. It's a more athletic vibe than what we're used to seeing on Taylor, who's already been making the magazine cover rounds this fall dressed in sparkly dresses or bohemian duds. But given the fact that Rolling Stone's more into dressing its stars in plain white tees than ball gowns, the casual cover isn't THAT surprising. We're betting you already have a simple t-shirt in your own closet (if not, stock up on Hanes stat!), so all you need now are some brown oxfords, shorts, and the pièce de résistance, the jacket. Taylor LOVES her tobacco-hued Vintage Shoe Company kicks- she's worn them on her Red album cover, so shop for your own pair here. Copy her bottoms with Levi's Cotton Twill shorts or these MiH Corduroys. Everyone from ASOS to Delias to adidas to Forever21 have their own take on the varsity jacket, AND there are about a zillion cheap options also at your local thrift store. Bottom line: it's never been easier to snag Taylor's homecoming-inspired outfit from head to toe. But a winning football season? Now THAT'S another story...
