Carly Rae Jepsen is showing herself to have staying power. With a mega-hit like "Call Me Maybe," which was not only a smash on the radio and on the charts, but on the internet as well (but you know ALL about that, we're sure), there's always the danger that your pan-flash will be just that. The tune has been out for over a year now, though, and with a second album and a Billboard Rising Star of 2012 designation, it's fair to say that there's more to Jepsen than just one tune. She is also teaching us lessons on the versatility of a simple haircut, with her signature blunt bangs and thick, long mane taking her from viral videos to the red carpet and back. Now, she's not the first to sport the wash and wear cut (there might even be some Style staffers who have been rocking it since before "Call Me" was a glimmer in Carly's eye), but she manages consistently to make it look different from cover to cover, mag spread to mag spread. On the January cover of Cosmopolitan, Carly is artfully disheveled, with her bangs and chin-length layers pushed forward, very nearly obscuring her smudgy, smoky eye.

The funny thing about fashion in January is that while the real world is snuggling up with their radiators and pulling their hats tighter onto their staticky heads, fashion is already gearing up for spring, and Carly's Cosmo outfit reflects that. In a mixed-print romper, Jepsen looks almost seasonless. The short silhouette and bright green screams springtime, but the thick fabrics and borderline fair-isle pattern on the sleeves reminds us of our coziest sweaters. Read the full story here!
