Rooney Mara covers the February 2013 issue of 'Vogue'.
Although she might be a full-fledged movie star these days (and capable of kicking some major bad guy butt), Rooney Mara has always remained mysterious off the big screen, dodging the paparazzi and avoiding the Hollywood publicity machine. Luckily for the rest of us, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo actress and star of the upcoming thriller Side Effects takes a rare plunge into the spotlight on the cover of February's Vogue. This marks her sophomore cover of the fashion magazine— she first graced the glossy back in 2011. But while her prior appearance was dark and edgy, this time the creative crew went with a softer approach, dressing the actress in a red lace frock and a pretty, barefaced beauty look. Bottom line: this girl is VERSATILE, and there's going to be a lot more where that came from when she co-hosts the punk rock-themed Met Gala with Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci this spring....
Inside the spread, shot by famed photographer David Sims, Rooney brings a quiet power to cut-outs, mesh, and a black lace, like the dress above by Calvin Klein. Sure, the actress may tell editor Hamish Bowles that she "doesn't try to be a style icon" and "isn't a model," and we don't doubt her hesitation to flaunt it all in front of the camera...but you've got to admit, she's a fashion superstar. Reluctant or not, Rooney has clearly got "It," and there's even more of her gorgeously captivating shoot over at Vogue.com.
See it all for yourself when the issue drops on newsstands January 22!
