Brit Marling, Dakota Fanning, and Amanda Seyfried at Sundance.
I'm really sick of winter, are you? Everything was ok until about a week ago, when it was no longer warm enough to go without gloves and the injustice of not being able to use my iPhone with my favorite cashmere hand warmers (which I got pre-iPhone, no smart gloves here) became positively infuriating. Well maybe it wasn't THAT serious, but it is really cold, and I'm really starting to hate all of my sweaters. Maybe that's why Robert Redford decided to have the Sundance Film Festival in January, though: good old Robert knew that all of the cute starlets showing off their Park City style would be just the kick in the pants our tired winter hating closets needed to get through until spring. With the festival now in full swing and continuing through the end of the week, there are already some totally killer looks warming up our chilly hearts. Actresses Brit Marling, Dakota Fanning, and Amanda Seyfried showed off three different looks, all super cozy. Get more info on their cold weather styles after the jump!
Brit Marling, who is at Sundance promoting her eco-anarchy thriller The East, wore a black and white all over Proenza Schouler pre-fall 2013 outfit. Showcasing one of the biggest trends of the season, the turtleneck, Brit paired a loose fitting sweater with a pair of brush stroke painted trousers and chunky high heeled boots. Both stylish and functional, the look makes us a little less nervous to bring some of our more challenging sweaters out of the back of the closet.
Dakota Fanning, who is making the rounds with Very Good Girls, went to her film's premiere in head to toe navy Louis Vuitton. Pairing a sleeveless cropped sweater with a sparkly, embroidered miniskirt, Dakota took winter friendly fabrics in less than winter friendly cuts (see: cropped, mini) and made something festive and totally winter ready. We always forget about navy, which, against the winter gloom is about as close to fresh as one can get. Dakota also showed off one of the most important winter accessories: a rich wine colored lip. Her pout makes her blue eyes pop, not to mention the blue in her outfit, and adds some drama that's a nice break from chilly nights.
And finally, Lovelace star Amanda Seyfried went a similar route to Dakota, pairing her black jeans with a cropped knit sweater and long black cardigan. We're super into all this play with hemlines that we see happening, and the little peek of skin is totally unexpected this time of year. Amanda's zig zag print top in black and beige broke up her otherwise all black ensemble, and heeled booties, a subtle cat eye and cascading waves pulled it all together to create a look that was at once laid back and casual while still being totally luxurious.
