There were a lot of surprises at tonight's 2013 Oscars, but our favorite has to have been the reveal of Michelle Obama presenting the award for "Best Picture" to Argo. A grinning and bow tied Jack Nicholson introduced his special presenting guest: Madame FLOTUS who appeared via satellite video from the White House. Breaking away from the White House Oscar party, Michelle twirled toward camera wearing a STUNNING Naeem Khan gown covered in zillions of silver beads that glittered in the camera lights.
Michelle shimmered in the metallic dress while highlighting this year's films' ability to inspire, "They reminded us that we can overcome any obstacle if we dig deep enough and fight hard enough and find the courage within ourselves." Everything about the First Lady gleamed, from her diamond-shaped drop earrings to her infectious smile and those immaculate bangs.
Argo was heavily favored for "Best Picture" because it was an exemplary film, but also because it would be a kind of vindication for director Ben Affleck who many were disappointed wasn't nominated in the "Best Directing" category. Receiving the award from the FLOTUS had to make the victory that much sweeter.
