Carrie Underwood's three Academy Of Country Music Awards looks.
You might not realize it, but here at MTV Style we can get a little bit country. We like to think of ourselves as open-minded, but it doesn't even take an open mind to get down with some of our favorite Nashville ladies. Arguably two of the reigning queens of country, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, took to last night's 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards red carpet AND stage in multiple looks that have us swooning. Both women brought it consistently throughout the night, but we have to talk about Carrie first because not only did she do red carpet to stage style like a pro, but she changed her performance look TWICE throughout the night. Starting out the evening in a floral photo printed Naeem Khan gown and a flippy updo, Underwood was a picture of spring. The dress, which featured a sweetheart neckline, A-line silhouette and contrast black sash, also had an epic blown-up tulip print. A daring choice on a carpet which was otherwise relatively tame, and we're wholly in support of it.
For her first performance of the night, Underwood did a major change-up, performing in a sand-colored, one shoulder mini dress featuring elaborate silver beading along the shoulder and and explosion of sparkles across the torso. That wasn't all, though, and Underwood drastically changed her look again for her performance of "Two Black Cadillacs," which she sang while wearing a far more costume-y black satin tea dress with lace detailing at the hem and neckline. She styled the dramatic look with a pair of matching satin gloves and took her hair down, letting it fall over her shoulders in big, flowing curls. We don't really want to pick a favorite, but we love that Carrie gave us so many pretty things to look at with her performance.
Taylor Swift's red carpet to stage looks at the Academy Of Country Music Awards.
Tay wore two outfits, beginning with a gold chain mail Dolce & Gabbana gown that was absolutely STUNNING. Tay knows how to wear gold, and she's never disappointed us with her classic and well thought-out red carpet style, but we have to say, the intricate detailing on her ACM Awards dress really just takes our breath away. With massive crystals along the neckline and shots of silver throughout the gold gown, Taylor looks like a real life statue. For her performance later in the evening, the singer looked no less dramatic in a dark, floor-length gown. Again featuring intricate beading, her performance look had a halter neckline, sand-colored bodice and draped skirt with a subtle peplum.
