I'm not Effie Trinket, but I'll still get down with a good old fashioned Capitol-style makeover. Before Elizabeth Banks, Jennifer Lawrence and the rest of the cast hit the red carpet on Monday night for the U.S. premiere of Catching Fire, I got to experience my very own #covermoment outside Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre thanks to COVERGIRL.
It all started Monday afternoon at The Standard Hotel in downtown L.A., where I was greeted by CG's rockstar team of makeup, hair and nail artists. The colorful products were laid out like candy, and I just couldn't resist snapping a photo!

For my Capitol-ready look, we used COVERGIRL's Queen Collection Vivid Impact Eyeliner in Cabernet, a gorgeous plum color, on the lower lids and smoky black on the uppers. Since I consider myself to be more of an "eye girl" than a "lip girl" (sure, you can be both—but not at the same time) we went for a glam eye without weighing them down with too much of the smoky eye effect. Instead, we used CG's Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Ginger Flame as a base, keeping my shadow—a glittering charcoal Flamed Out Shadow Pot—in place through three hours of red carpet mayhem, laughing (and crying) in a theater full of fellow "Gamers" and snapping goofy pics in the after party photo booth.
To finish the eyes, we gave them a double whammy with CG's 2-in-1 Bombshell Volume Mascara: perfect for adding lift and curl to both my upper and lower lashes.
We kept the foundation light, highlighting my face with the creamy CG+Olay Concealer Balm and playing up my own natural flush.
On my lips: more glitter! I loved using their Smoochies Sizzle Gloss in Glow for It. The shades looked much more high impact in their tubes, but once applied offered a glimmering look that was understated but totally gorgeous.
The look wouldn't be complete without nails (amirite, ladies?), and CG had me covered in that department, too. We used a sparkling gold lacquer to off-set my dark blue dress, and I STILL can't stop looking at them. What can I say? I'm a glitter girl.
The best part? The whole process took only about an hour before I was ready to hit the red carpet and soak up my #covermoment.
