While the Jenners were in various states of undress—exposing pelvic bones and other body parts—at this weekend's MuchMusic Awards, Lorde made just as big of a statement wearing not one but two pantsuits, which have become something of her signature look. They weren't your average Zzz-inducing black two-pieces, because Lorde is literally incapable of being boring. Rather, both were intensely '90s, undeniably #normcore (as eye-rolly as that descriptor is, it couldn't be more neccessary here), and in unexpected hues.
The first one, a Phillip Lim oxblood number that she wore on the red carpet and for her killer performance of "Team" was styled with a total footwear curveball: all-white Stan Smiths. Since accepting a big-deal award obviously called for an outfit change, her second look of the night was a glen-plaid vintage Perry Ellis getup that looked like something straight out of Working Girl (appropriate, since girl was definitely ~working~ it). She ditched the suddenly trendy sneaker for a pair of platform creepers.
But none of that really matters, because WOULD YOU PLEASE LOOK AT THAT HAT??? Much ink has been spilled about a certain performer's statement hat over the last few months, but this saucer topper by Philip Treacy is giving Pharrell's Vivienne Westwood accessory a major run for its money. Who needs a crown when you have a hat like that? All hail Lorde.
