Nicki Minaj attends the MAC Viva Glam party in New York City.

It's been one heck of a week, you guys. First of all, we've endured the magical collision of cray that is New York Fashion Week crossed with the Grammy Awards slashed with Valentine's Day. What else could assault our tunnel vision, rattle our fash-worshipping demons, and unleash inner banshee wails? Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin together in New York City to launch their MAC Viva Glam collection, that's what. Nicki M continues to ramp up her neon Barbie look (which, honestly, is a welcome diversion from that Grammy Little Red Riding Hood moment), and she wore an alternating hot pink and cobalt blue Nanette Lepore dress and blazer with a killer pair of Giuseppe Zanotti heels. And Ricky? Let's just say he was sporting some muy caliente facial scruff inspired by The Artist.

anna sui nyfw fall 2012

A model tableau opens Anna Sui's Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show.

Leave it to Anna Sui to throw some sunny happiness on these New York Fashion Week proceedings. Her fall 2012 show was all about bright color, vivid florals, owls (*hoot*), and the happiest models we've ever seen. From the opening model tableau to the parade of sprites with spring in their steps, the collection was all about schoolyard Kool-Aid fun times with a dash of '60s styling, some '70s inspiration, and enough argyle sassiness to start a pep rally (holla). Did we mention the show also included Sui's new handbag collaboration with Coach? And that she's designing bedding for spring? It was all so brash and jovial that we (and most of Twitter) decreed it the most delightful show at #NYFW.

We are in the final stretch of New York Fashion Week and are starting to feel the effects of nonstop, never-ending assaults of fashion fancy (*eyes popping out of head*). Oh, yeah, and celebs du jour! Who's been at the shows lately? TV cutie Shenae Grimes popped by the Emerson show wearing a midriff-baring cream cropped sweater, shiny black spandex, and what is perhaps the best blowout we've ever seen. Jessica Alba sashayed to the front row of the Michael Kors show in a body-hugging teal sheath dress with a black bodice harness, candy apple lips, and weather-appropriate black tights and heels. Amber Heard also attended the Kors show and chose a white knee-length dress with a wide black lace waistband. Not only was it refreshing to see her in something that wasn't floor length (girl loves to cover up), we were into the black strappy heels and au naturel makeup. rodarte fall 2012

Rodarte Fall 2012 at New York Fashion Week.

We're rounding the final New York Fashion Week bend and were delighted to be taken on a bit of a road trip courtesy of one of our faves, Rodarte. Sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy always put on a heck of a show and let the clothes do all the talking. As much as we love runway show theatrics, sometimes you just want to sit back and be rendered speechless by a truly fantastic collection, which is what Rodarte promises for fall. Known for their convoluted knits, mishmash prints and cutting techniques, love of horror films, life in Southern California, and friend fans such as Dakota Fanning and Natalie Portman, who both sat front row today along with legendary filmmaker George Lucas (AMAZING), they're also one of the most anticipated shows at NYFW. Their fall collection was inspired by the dusty geography of the Australian outback, and we noticed some 1940s styling, superb coats we'd like to wear now, and a smattering of beautiful dresses fit for the awards carpets. Let's get into this sandtrap of loveliness...

Valentine's Day For The Stay-At-Home Girl

Happy Valentine's Day! Wooo! Candy hearts, glitter, chocolates, Mylar balloons, a romantic dinner, and ubiquitous roses! Does this sound like your holiday? Ours either. It's Tuesday, people, and it's Fashion Week. Also? WE. ARE. EXHAUSTED. We'll take the sugar, but the rest of this love heart biz isn't convenient right now. All we want is a night in with that special someone (aka a certain fuzzball we may or may not have named KILLER), some choice eats, a rad movie that might induce maniacal crying, and the snuggliest of snuggle gear we can get our chipped pedicures into. Thus, we've put together the ultimate, last-minute Valentine's Day fiesta for us stay-at-home girls. Remember: IT'S A CHOICE, not necessarily a necessity. (Or so we keep telling ourselves.) Onward!

Looks from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show.
Photo: Getty Images

He never fails to make New York Fashion Week exciting and always puts on the most theatrical, over-the-top shows. I'm talking about Marc Jacobs, of course, and before I get into the utterly insane, magical, pimped out musical pilgrim insanity that was his fall 2012 show, I just want to give thanks to this man. THANK YOU, Marc Jacobs, for entertaining us. Why can't other designers add a dose of drama or a sprinkle of staged whimsy (and/or mayhem) to their runway shows? MJ seems to be the only one having any fun around here (with the exception of Betsey Johnson and Karl Lagerfeld over in Paris). I think I speak for many of us fashion-loving folks when I say: Show us the "show" in fashion SHOW! Give us something to go bazonkers about, which is exactly what we did for this pimp hat-topped hootenanny of paisley-inflused, glitter-adorned, fur laden cornucopia of CRAY. Did we mention that Jacobs referenced not only the British musical Oliver! but also Mystery the Pickup Artist? Oh, and that Dakota Fanning and Rose Byrne were there? Holy Beetlejuice, there's SO much we need to discuss.

It's getting crazy in Gossip Girl Valentine Land (aka NYC on Feb. 14). As you know from last week's episode, Blair (Leighton Meester) got married to the newly evil Prince Louis (Hugo Becker) in order to save her family from bankruptcy. Sadly for lovestruck Lonely Boy, Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley), this means no dice for him in the unrequited Blair-love department, or does it? Blair's back home in the city with a royal handler in tow, and she decides to throw a party to help get Dan and Serena (Blake Lively) back together, thinking that they're both still in love with each other. The problem is while Serena has her heart set on Dan, and Dan has his heart set on Blair, there's Chuck (Ed Westwick) floating around in the Empire ether ready to shake things up.

And where is "Gossip Girl," er, we mean the current replacement, Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg)? Oh, she's there stirring up trouble. Not only does she force Dan to bring Blair to Nate's (Chace Crawford) Valentine's Day party, she blackmails him into kissing her at the party too, which he does (GASP!!!!), but only because he really wants to. And since we're on the subject of Nate, the party was thrown in order to hire cater-waiter Charlie "Lola" Rhodes (Ella Rae Peck), whom he still has a massive crush on, not knowing that she's a van der Woodsen (she doesn't know yet either). But wait! Out of the blue, the other Charlie Rhodes (Kaylee DeFer), aka "Ivy" the con artist, returns with an urgent message, and we find out that both Charlies know each other. Where is this all going?! We have no clue, but if you haven't caught up yet, we won't spoil the rest for you. Check back here weekly for our fashion recap!

3.1 phillip lim fall 2012

Looks from 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2012 at New York Fashion Week.
Photo: Getty Images

From voluminous plumes of smoke and the thumping momentum of the Drive soundtrack to silver collars and flashes of pixilated teal, the fall 2012 3.1 Phillip Lim show was a spectacle of monochromatic noir. The mood in the room was intense to begin with. For one, it was super warm and the phalanx of fash-photogs was not too happy about the fact that smoke machines would diffuse their usually pristine photographic view. Still, front row indie music lovelies like Oh Land and Annie Clark of St. Vincent filed in ready to behold a collection depicting a modern heroine dressed "with a strength that belies her innate vulnerability," as it was described in the show's notes. What Lim delivered for fall was a diverse set of primarily black and white separates with focused structure, figure-enveloping drama, and overt pops of green and orange. To put it succinctly, these are clothes for a somber badass—aka the female equivalent to Ryan Gosling.

Adele on the March 2012 cover of "Vogue."
Photo: Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot/Courtesy of "Vogue"

We knew it was coming. No, we're not just talking about the full-on Grammy Awards sweep Adele achieved (SIX awards!) last night, but also the March 2012 cover of Vogue magazine, which just hit the fashion wires. When it was first revealed that she would be shot for the magazine, there was resounding applause from women the world over. The magazine has often been criticized for its lack of diversity where the cover is concerned, so the choice of the bodacious and beautifully curvy Adele was met with triumphant fanfare. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Pigott, she is captured in a full-lipped, cat-eyed, classic Hollywood meets Raphaelite painting sort of way, and HOLY BAZOOMBAGE is she stunning. In the accompanying cover article, she opens up to Vogue about her breakup, Grammy nods, Beyoncé, and just how she felt on the MTV VMA red carpet.

The 54th annual Grammy Awards were full of sparkle and spectacle despite the somber mood in the air with the passing of a Grammy legend. While there were no arrivals in alien eggs or dresses made out of intestinal linings (#ew), what was on offer this year was nothing short of pure red carpet class. We're talking designer dresses—predominantly in black and white—accents of gold, lace, plunging necklines, delicate appliqueé, and a giant mouse head. Here are our choices for Best Dressed of the night.

JESSIE J IN JULIEN MACDONALD

Top Grammy Looks

Ladies and gentlemen, Jessie J turned it OUT. Arriving on the bright red carpet wearing a silver Julien Macdonald gown made of a cotillion of small squares, the hourglass silhouette gave her a modernized old Hollywood feel. Macdonald was the former head designer of Knitwear at Chanel, and he has a knack for creating futuristic feminine designs. This particular dress was a perfect choice for Jessie, and with her slicked-back ponytail, blunt bangs, clavicle-dusting tresses, a mermaid hem, and jet black Lulu Guinness clutch tucked into her palm, she was a shimmering triumph.
