New York Fall Fashion Week heated up yesterday with top designers hitting Lincoln Center to show off their collections. Impressed is an understatement.

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG: At her Fall 2011 fashion show, Diane von Furstenberg proved that a red pout works well with everything from furs and liquid sequins to polka dots and round sunglasses— and on any skin tone. Smooches!

VICTORIA BECKHAM: Even though Victoria Beckham's designs for Fall 2011 were completely buttoned up (many of the dresses completely covered the models necks, and models tucked their hair into black swim cap-style hats), there was a sense of sexy confidence throughout the collection. And the bags that some models toted? AMAZING!!

ALEXANDER WANG: Alexander Wang played with the menswear-inspired trend for his Fall 2011 collection, which was full of dark fur collars, ponchos, cigarette pants, and loads of leather. One of his most interesting accessories were his fur-lined sunglasses (kind of perfect for cold weather, right?).

Tired of the same ol' same hairstyle? We found some serious hair inspiration yesterday at several New York Fashion Week shows. Granted, you may not want to braid a scarf into your hair or spray paint your strands silver, but these wild manes are sure to get your creative juices flowing.

CRAFTY BUNS AT THAKOON: At Thakoon, strips of knit fabric were twisted through models' hair into funky french rolls.

FRIZZY FAUX HAWKS AT BENSONI: Bensoni teamed thigh high boots on feet with pompadoured messy braided faux hawks. To emphasize the edginess of the style, some models had the sides spray painted silver.

PIN-UP GIRL WAVES AT LELA ROSE: Lela Rose models wore Old Hollywood finger waves in the front and a modern ponytail in the back.

With roughly 28 shows crammed into two days, the busiest time during New York Fall 2011 Fashion Week could quite possibly be the weekend. Yep, there was a lot of style fabulousness going on. Check out our fave lineups below and let us know if you agree.

JILL STUART: A lot, but not all, of the Fall 2011 fashion shows over the weekend featured dark threads. There was a color explosion at Jill Stuart's collection presentation, which was full of animal print dresses, faux fur, and color-blocked frocks.

PRABAL GURUNG: Red carpet-fave Prabal Gurung brought the whimsy to Fashion Week with his Fall 2011 collection, which was jammed with below-the-knee, belted cocktail dresses in regal hues like black, red and gray. To give the Great Expectations-inspired shifts edge, Gurung teamed them with funky-patterned tights and slick leather gloves with wrist ties.

DEREK LAM: It was fun to see Derek Lam’s collection on the runway, but more than anything we wanted to touch each and every piece. Plush furs, soft shearlings, and trendy wools dominated the designer's Fall 2011 line of coats, vests, and blazers. Comfy cozy.

There was a lot going on in the celebrity world this weekend (um, Grammys!), but that didn't stop them from popping by New York Fashion Week to show their fave designers some love.

CHARLOTTE RONSON: Stars must have received the "wear prints to the Charlotte Ronson fashion show" memo. Kim Kardashian wore a short-short skirt; Mena Suvari teamed a frilly dress with dark tights and shoes; Sophia Bush wore a striped cardigan; and Olivia Munn looked sweet in a floral blouse.

BAND OF OUTSIDERS: In addition to the designer's new look book model Kirsten Dunst (who wore a menswear-inspired getup), the front row at the Band of Outsiders show was star-studded. Rapper/singer Kid Cudi dressed in a black and red leather jacket with skinny jeans and black lace-ups. Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour wore a multicolored skirt and top combo with tan leather boots. And Kanye West showed up in a shrunken leather topper, a graphic tee, black leather pants, and retro Air Jordans.

REBECCA MINKOFF: MTV alums Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt from The Hills, and Louise Roe from The City sat front row at Rebecca Minkoff's fashion show. Lo and Stephanie both wore vests with black leggings, while Louise teamed her roughed-up strands with a black minidress, leather jacket and leopard print shoes (that we love!).

TOMMY HILFIGER: Head-to-toe plaid can sway gimmicky, but Gossip Girl guy Ed Westwick looked surprisingly chic in his navy plaid suit.

Many of the high notes at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night were hit pre-show. On the red carpet celebs showed up in an array of ensembles that ran the gamut from super-sexy to far out. Still, there were a handful of fashion themes that repeated over and over again. Here are our faves:

GOLD STREAK: All that glitters must be gold because there were SO many gilded gowns at this year's Grammys. Kim Kardashian wore a glittering Kaufman Franco gown with a deep V-neck and sexy slit. Selena Gomez wore a pale gold J. Mendel dress with a pretty pink pout. And LeAnn Rimes glistened in a sequined gold Reem Acra cinch-waist gown.

ANIMAL INSTINCTS: The Grammys red carpet was where the wild things were last night. Teen queen Miley Cyrus wore a metallic tiger-print Roberto Cavalli dress, while Katy Perry's Giorgio Armani wings took her look over the edge. Nicki Minaj and Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) both wore Givenchy--Nicki teamed her poufy 'do with a leopard print ensemble, and Florence went all Swan Lake in a bird-appliqued gown.

SLITSVILLE: Svelte celebs, including Heidi Klum, Lea Michele, and Ciara, were giving us a little (er, A LOT) of leg on the red carpet. Heidi wore a gold Julien Macdonald gown with a center slit. Meanwhile, Lea and Ciara both wore Emilio Pucci dresses with sexy slits-to-there.

BLUE VALENTINE: The hottest hue on the red carpet was blue with Jennifer Hudson (in Versace) and Selma Blair (in Lanvin) both wearing navy, and Natasha Bedingfield and Keri Hilson (in Basil Soda) rocking a brighter shade of the color.

TAILOR MERMAID: Showing their fab figures were Nicole Kidman, Rihanna, and Mya, who all slinked into hip-hugging, mermaid-style gowns. Nicole and Rihanna both wore Jean-Paul Gaultier, while Mya rocked a Jean Fares column dress.

The style theatrics witnessed on the red carpet at last night's 53rd Annual Grammy Awards were just the beginning. Onstage was where the real fashion drama went down. Performing stars slipped out of their fancy suits and frocks (or their green egg, in Lady Gaga's case), and into fierce performance outfits.

KATY PERRY: Love was in the air when Katy Perry hit the stage to perform. While footage of her wedding to Russell Brand played in the background, Katy, in a bejeweled Giorgio Armani tutu, belted out "Not Like the Movies." So sweet.

LADY GAGA: After teasing everyone on the red carpet by incapsulating herself in a womb/egg, Lady Gaga emerged in a Mugler by Nicola Formichetti-designed yolk-colored while performing "Born This Way."

RIHANNA AND EMINEM: We've seen this duo perform together before, and (save for Eminem's constant serious-face) they always seem to shake it up style-wise. This time, Rihanna wore a blooming yellow and black Christian Dior ball gown, while Eminem wore a black leather jacket with a hoodie and black jeans.

CEE LO GREEN AND GWYNETH PALTROW: While Gwyneth Paltrow looked rather demure (if you don't count the time she jumped on the piano and started dancing around), Cee Lo Green totally outdid himself during his performance of "Forget You." The rapper dressed as a peacock muppet. Need we say more?

JADEN SMITH, JUSTIN BIEBER, AND USHER: In the shock of the night, boy-phenom Justin Bieber walked away with zero Grammys (he's young...he still has time), but he did perk up the crowd with a medley performance of his songs. Jaden Smith (in leopard print pants) and Usher (in an electric blue getup) gave him moral support.

RIHANNA AND DRAKE: Wearing a fringed bustier set, Rihanna shook and shimmied onstage during a calypso-like rendition of "What's My Name," which she performed with Drake, who wore all black (what's up with the rappers wearing straight black onstage?).

The suits were out in full force at last night's 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, and they were anything but stiff. From classic three-piece ensembles to bright winter white, the guys (and one girl) who stepped out in formal wear did it with some serious swagger.

GLEE GUYS GET-UPS: The Glee cast (who were nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album and Best Pop Performance by a Group) may have come up empty handed, but the fellas certainly won in the fashion category. Chord Overstreet and Matthew Morrison both teamed their Dolce & Gabbana suits with skinny black ties. Meanwhile, Darren Criss (in District Homme) and Kevin McHale both bucked the black suit trend for gray and white, respectively.

SUITS WITH A TWIST: Leave it to Russell Brand, Justin Bieber, B.o.B, and Ricky Martin to bring the individuality. Russell wore a one-button peak label Giorgio Armani gunmetal gray suit with a black shirt and a black tie. The Biebs wore a neck-to-toe white D&G outfit, while rapper B.o.B added more red to the crimson carpet in a cherry blazer that he paired with studded jeans and a white button-up. Meanwhile, Ricky rocked a Giorgio Armani shawl collar evening jacket with skinny tie, silver jeggings and Emporio Armani lace-up boots.

ALL BLACK EVERYTHING: No matter the form, these celebs know you can't go wrong in black. The Situation wore black denim with a dark mandarin-collared blazer, while Janelle Monae sparkled in a fitted Dolce & Gabbana suit. Drake went with his usual triple black ensemble in a Giorgio Armani tux, which he partnered with a glittering bowtie. And, Lenny Kravitz arrived draped in a slouchy leather vest and fitted/cuffed leather pants.

Leading up to Sunday night's 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, there were all these rumors swirling around about Rihanna's health. Earlier in the week she apparently tweeted to a fan that she was getting over bronchitis and laryngitis. Well, if RiRi was still ill while walking the red carpet or performing, she played it off beautifully.

ON THE RED CARPET: Never one to shy away from making a fashion statement (or from showing slivers of skin), Rihanna combined her sleek red mane with a supersexy Jean-Paul Gaultier gown.

DURING HER PERFORMANCE WITH EMINEM: While onstage with rapper Eminem for their performance of "Love the Way You Lie," Rihanna wore a dramatic full-skirted, strapless Christian Dior ball gown.

DURING HER PERFORMANCE WITH DRAKE: Giving her performance of "What's My Name?" with rapper Drake an island spin, Rihanna slow whined in a fringed and beaded outfit and stiletto booties.

As has always been the case with Lady Gaga, we couldn't quite figure out what was going on here, but we still loved the bold, sci-fi-meets-fashion ensembles the singer chose for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. According to Gaga's creative director Laurieann Gibson, the singer was "birthing a new race." Alrighty then.

ON THE RED CARPET: Lady Gaga "incubated" on the red carpet in a womb-with-a-view created by Hussein Chalayan.

PERFORMING ON STAGE: While belting out her new single, "Born This Way," Gaga showed her dance moves (she's got a few!) in a Mugler by Nicola Formichetti-designed see-through yolk-colored half-shirt, skirt, jacket, and hat.

FOR HER ACCEPTANCE SPEECH: Winning a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, Lady Gaga took to the stage wearing a Mugler by Nicola Formichetti black getup with thigh-high boots and above-the-elbow gloves… Oh, and she rocked prosthetic baby horns and alien-esque pointy shoulders.

Even though singer Katy Perry had three outfit changes during Sunday night's 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, she stayed loyal to one designer. The Grammy-nominated singer sparkled in a trio of bedazzled Giorgio Armani creations.

ON THE RED CARPET: Katy stepped out in a custom-made Giorgio Armani evening dress featuring a Swarovski crystal encrusted bustier and an iridescent silk organza ruffled skirt. But, the feathery angel wings were what made this ensemble soar.

ONSTAGE: In an ode to Valentine's Day, Katy wore a custom-designed Giorgio Armani pink dress during her live performance. The minidress included a corset top embellished with pink shimmering rock crystals. She teamed her ensemble with a pair of custom-made Giorgio Armani platform shoes. We (heart)!

IN THE AUDIENCE: Finally, Katy closed the evening in a Giorgio Armani Privé iridescent silvery cocktail dress. She wore the embellished one-shoulder design with Valeska jewelry.
