Ioanna Gika for House Of Holland Eyewear.
Photo: Courtesy of IO Echo

Ugh, don't you sometimes, or maybe always, secretly wish you were a rock star? While we gave up on any dreams of actually winning Grammys or playing to sold out, screaming crowds years ago (*sigh*) we still sometimes get that pang of jealousy when we see one of our fave lady musicians doing something particularly fabulous. That's exactly how we felt when we saw that the awesome Ioanna Gika, front woman for Los Angeles shoegaze-pop outfit IO Echo and Jeremy Scott hologram kimono enthusiast, had taken on the task of filling Iggy Azaleas very big shoes as the face of House Of Holland eyewear. While Iggy's campaign was all about color, Ioanna's brings a little bit more atmosphere to the table, with the singer posing in a kind of 70's kitsch backdrop, her hair crimped into a big triangle that we're sure roller girl would approve of. Obviously she wears a kimono in the shoot, as well.

Rihanna's River Island co-designer Adam Selman at the Opening Ceremony RIHtrospective and a look he designed for Rihanna.
Photo: Getty

We're (obviously) HUGE fans of the magical music and fashion machine, but isn't it fun to peek behind the curtain every once in awhile? Rihanna for River Island is by far one of the years most anticipated celebrity design collaborations, and we were beyond excited to have a chance to chat with Rihanna's co-designer Adam Selman at the US launch of the line, and the corresponding "RIHtrospective," at Opening Ceremony. Not only did Selman help Rihanna with her River Island line, but he also designed and fabricated five of the seven looks on display. From Rihanna's pink lace Victoria's Secret Fashion show look to her white 2012 VMA dress (more on that in the video), there's no doubt that you'll recognize some of the looks in the RIHtrospective. When we dragged Adam down to the basement of Opening Ceremony during the lively launch event for both the retrospective and the collection, he answered all of our burning questions with a smile on his face and an expertise that made it totally obvious why he's Rihanna's go-to guy for all things fashion, along with her long-time stylist Mel Ottenberg. He ALSO gave us a couple of scoops about whether we can expect to see more Rihanna For River Island (!!!!), what it's like to work for Rihanna (think: Unicorns), and what his fave pieces of her wardrobe are. Watch the full video after the jump!

Rihanna at the launch of her River Island collection in London.
Photo: Getty

Amidst all of the excitement, the runway show and the campaign and all of that, we kind of forgot that the day was fast approaching that we would actually be able to BUY Rihanna's River Island collection for ourselves very soon. The collection is available in the US via Opening Ceremony today, but it also had its launch in the UK last night. Rihanna was in attendance at the London opening, rocking, of course, some choice cuts from her own collection. One of the most showstopping (and for some, eyebrow raising) pieces from the collection are the double denim overalls, which break down your traditional Osh Kosh classics to include crop top and a pair of jeans with a double waistband. Don't get what the heck we're saying, well Ri wore the non-traditional togs to her store opening last night, and we have to say she looks killer in them. Conjuring up some serious Aaliyah vibes, that's for sure. Rihanna styled the jeans not with the matching crop top but with a relaxed, cropped white tea and perfect dark purple lipstick. We're loving how her super glam, long hair adds some elegance to the otherwise street wear-leaning look.

Taylor Swift on the April issue of Vanity Fair.
Photo: Vanity Fair

Has the time come for Taylor Swift to stop playing dress up and start acting serious? While we never thought our Swifty would give up her girly girl, magic fairyland ways, her recent Vanity Fair cover has us thinking that maybe there are more mature days to come for the pop-country mega star. Maybe it all started when she began wearing pants on the regular, or when she did that sultry quick-change at the Brit awards, but there's a change afoot for our girl. Taylor graces the April issue of Vanity Fair, and the tight, windswept portrait seems to usher in this new age of her girlhood. Taylor poses with minimal makeup, maybe a little highlighter to make her deep blue eyes pop, her hair a mess, in an ornate jeweled dress and matching wrap, her hands draped over an acoustic guitar. This is one we can't wait to see fashion credits for, also, not because of the dress, which is beautiful, but because of Taylor's A+ ring game. Two cuff rings and an incredible sapphire grace the singers fingers, and we desperately want to know where she (or the shoot's stylist, more likely) acquired them. Forget about boys and gossip, tell us about the stuff!

Rihanna in DKNY x Opening Ceremony and an original tour costume jacket.
Photo: Getty

It makes perfect sense that, on the eve of her River Island Collection becoming available for the thirsty American masses, Rihanna would wear a look comprised entirely of her own designs as well as those of her exclusive retailer, Opening Ceremony. We knew that we recognized that jumpsuit immediately as the Spring '91 Sweat Jumpsuit ($315.00) from DKNY's collaboration with OC, and we also thought there was something awfully familiar about that racing jacket. While the fact that it's decorated with the phrase "Rude Boy," a reference, of course, to Rihanna's 2010 single off of Rated R, but more than that, it's something of a catchphrase for the singer. While the over sized cut and color scheme didn't immediately scream original piece, we still had this feeling. And then we remembered it (eureka!): the jacket was heavily featured in the b-roll for Rihanna's Diamonds World Tour Wardrobe First Look video, which you can watch below!

M.I.A. performing at Paris Fashion Week, and a look from Kenzo's Fall 2013 show.
Photo: Getty

Be still our hearts, for the Kenzo Fall 2013 show has them all aflutter. Beyond just presenting a collection filled with beautiful, lush, challenging silhouettes at Paris Fashion Week, Carole Lim and Humberto Leon also gave us the gift of some brand new music from M.I.A., which is something you KNOW we've been waiting for with bated breath. The eight and a half minute long Matangi Mixtape includes snippets of multiple new songs as well as countless beats and samples, and while we can't write many of the lyrics here, they contain that signature M.I.A. razor-wit and total lack of cowardice and we LOVE them. While representatives from Kenzo say that the mix is an "original song for the Kenzo 2013 show," we wonder if this isn't a preview into what we have coming from M.I.A. in the not so distant future. Whatever this is, we want more.

Rihanna attending a basketball game, and painted on a Givenchy shirt.
Photo: Getty/@Badgalriri Instagram

Oh no big deal, just getting custom Givenchy portrait tees delivered to us, just being on a first-name basis with Riccardo Tisci. Oh wait, that was Rihanna, not us?! *Dream sequence dissolves, siiiiiiigh* Yesterday, Rihanna posted a photo on her Instagram, revealing a tee with a very familiar looking portrait painted on it. A somewhat Impressionist rendering, the portrait is of a woman with a close cropped hairstyle, bright red lips and big eyes. Sound familiar? Yup, Rihanna can now wear her own face. We're guessing that this super-glam gift was a belated birthday gift from the designer, and wow, what a good one it is. The present also comes just as Rihanna's River Island collection is heading stateside. It was announced that Opening Ceremony will be the exclusive US retailer for the line, and will be celebrating the partnership with an exhibition, or a RIHtrospective, as it's being called. More information after the jump!

Snooki's XOVain Make-under.
Photo: Getty/xoVain

Happy Friday everyone! To celebrate the end of the week, and the fact that it's March 1st and we're therefore one step closer to freedom from this dreaded, depressing winter garbage, we bring you the Snooki make-under! The amazing folks over at xoJane have been blowing our minds with their gorgeous make-unders for awhile now (remember Sammi's?), but they really knocked it out of the park with this one. It's also the first for their brand new beauty site xoVain! It makes sense that they would start with our favorite fashion-obsessed meatball, as making-under Snooki, a lover of tanning and bronzer and all things LEOPARD, is an obvious coup, but she's such a good sport, and so glowy and beautiful, that we're not surprised she agreed to show off her natural beauty for the site. Posing with her red hair both down and in a low bun, Snooki looks refined and demure in very little more than just some concealer, blush, shadow and mascara. While this may sound like a full face of makeup to many of us, for Snooki, this was a majorly understated look. xoVain's editors have some things to say about Snooki's bare faced look, and let's just say they have us feeling pretty jealous. Of the TV personality, they said, "Snooki has really great skin, and she’s young, with high cheekbones and built-in bronzer." A human with build in bronzer? Ah-may-zing. They go on to add "We didn’t need to do much concealing other than this, and no trickery like contouring."

Beyonce's portrait for Chimes For Change.
Photo: Getty

Beyonce asked (and answered) the question "Who Run The World (Girls)," and now she's doing her part to make sure that's actually the case. The singer has teamed up with Gucci on the Chime For Change initiative, a global empowerment program dedicated to supporting girls and women through fundraising and awareness. By allowing women from all over the world to share their stories, Chime For Change hopes to show how powerful women can be and to inspire future generations. If you want to get involved, head over to MTV Act for the full scoop! While Bey has always been a champion for "Independent Women," we're sure that having a daughter herself has added to the singer's dedication to the causes that Chime for Change is most focused on, those being health, justice, and education for women. Read Beyonce's statement about the campaign after the jump!

Rihanna graces not one but two covers for Elle UK's April issue.
Photo: Elle UK's Facebook

Remember last week, when we gave you that sneak peek of Rihanna's April Elle UK cover? We know, there's been SO MUCH crazy Rihanna news since then, but seriously, wrack your brains because we have the real deal right here! That's right, feast your eyes on Rihanna's TWO Elle UK covers! I'm sure you're sick of hearing us blab about how insanely beautiful Rihanna is. You're rolling your eyes and saying, "we get it guys, she's like a unicorn bathed in gold dust," yeah yeah yeah, but C'MON SERIOUSLY?! The blue-bathed shoot has us clamoring for the red lipstick and hair cutting scissors. On the first cover, Ri is seated on a stool looking smolderingly at the camera wearing a black and white checked crop top and a high-slit skirt. The look is Carnaby Street meets 90's raver, with the very 60's silhouette of the crop top colliding with the zipper accents of the skirt, which appears to be nylon. With Rihanna's flawless pixie cut, smokey eyes and a red lip, the time twist of a look is brought together with a modern, sophisticated flair. On the second cover, Rihanna gives another take on black and white, wrapped in a shawl shot through with an abstract floral, with just a hint of black and white bustier peeking through. Her beauty look is consistent through the two covers, and we wonder how the interior spread expands upon the themes introduced here and in the sneak peek image we've already seen.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
