Rihanna

Rihanna appeared on her 777 Tour airplane to cheers and explosions of flashbulbs, and journalists leaping out of their seats. In sunglasses with her head half shaved, hair long and black on the opposite side, she strode through the aisles greeting everyone, at one point saying, "This is some presidential s***." Rihanna was all smiles, laughing as she walked. Her outfit was travel ready: a black tank and jeans, grey leopard backpack and a Starter jacket tied around her hips. She also rocked long, pale pink stiletto nails to finish her look.

Stay tuned to MTV Style for all the 777 tour news!

Psy performs "Gagnam Style" at the 2012 EMA.
Photo: Getty

The 2012 MTV EMA aired late last night on MTV2, but some of our fave performances weren't included in the US broadcast. Have no fear, though, because we have the performances you've seen AND all of the ones that you haven't yet, along with the AMAZING performance looks that went with them. While all of the performances were totally awesome, we had to narrow it down to our five faves. It was a challenging task, but in the end, Taylor Swift, Psy, Carly Rae Jepsen, Rita Ora, and Gwen Stefani reigned as our performance style faves. With looks ranging from the theatrical to the sultry, all of last night's performers brought it in a major way. Let's take a look at their performance style, shall we?

PSY

First up, Korean mega-star Psy performed his hit "Gagnam Style" in a sequined top that simultaneously reminded us of Michael Jackson's glittering performance looks during the "Billie Jean" era and something straight out of Star Trek. With a bright blue lapel and cuff details popping against pure black sparkle, Psy looked every bit the super star backed by his army of dancers. He finished the look with some excellently tailored trousers and classic black, classic white wingtips and, of course, a slick pair of shades. Check out the full performance video, as well as the rest of out favorite looks, after the jump.

Taylor's sweet pink-lipped beauty look at the 2012 EMA.
Photo: Getty

We've come to think of Taylor Swift as THE expert when it comes to showing the versatility of a bold red lip and smoky cat eye. Whether paired with a casual sweater and cat flats, a cute a-line dress, or with a full-on red carpet look, Tay's typical beauty game as become something of a constant in our lives. This is why, when the first photos of her on the 2012 MTV EMA appeared, we actually did a double take, asking each other if it could be true. Did Taylor Swift skip her signature rouge pout in favor of, *gasp* pink? It would appear so! While her petal pink pout was certainly a surprise, it was a lovely one, and matched the clean lines of her subtle smoky eye perfectly. There's something about a plain lip and flawless, not too dramatic eye that just screams elegance, right? Paired with soft, voluminous waves in her honey blonde hair, Taylor looked every bit the classic beauty. Context is everything, though, and what really set the look over the top was how well it went with Taylor's amazing dress.

Blake Lively channeling the magic of Hollywood in her Gucci Premiere ad.
Photo: Gucci Parfums Youtube

Blake Lively has her old Hollywood glam game DOWN. From soft Veronica Lake waves to that faraway gaze filled with meaning that has seemingly been past down through generations of actresses, the Gossip Girl star is equally at home under klieg lights and in front of the camera. When we first saw Blake's commercial for Gucci's Premiere fragrance, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (who is also the genius behind Drive), back in August, we knew immediately that there were some serious Tinseltown allusions being made. I mean, putting blonde, statuesque Blake high atop the Hollywood Hills, gazing down at her cinematic dominion like a silver screen queen? Absolutely. And now, Gucci has released a behind the scenes clip from the shoot, which reveals that our inferences into the symbolism of the commercial were correct (and who said studying critical theory in college wasn't a marketable skill? psh). Refn explains that the ad intends to evoke "movie mythology, and the romanticism of movie mythology." He goes on to say that, "we're in Hollywood, this is where it all started." On his casting decision, he says picking Blake was a no-brainer, and that he "certainly can't think of anyone else to fill those golden shoes." Blake also has some kind things to say about her director, which you can watch in the clip after the jump!

Britney's regal side.
Photo: Courtesy of Britney Spears' Youtube Channel

From on-set Twitter photos, to print campaigns, to commercials, Britney Spears' Fantasy Twist fragrance campaign has been like a lesson in advertising. We've watched since the very beginning, when all we knew about the fragrance was that it was two scents in one and that, in the campaign, Britney was dressed like Cleopatra in a hotel hallway, but we've known all along that the full length commercial was going to be awesome. Well, its finally here, and you're not going to be disappointed. Britney appears as Cleopatra, as a sequined club queen, a flapper and finally as a super glam goth in the commercial, representing the many personae a girl can take on. She struts and spins through the hallways of a hotel, serving as muse for its various denizens. The photo campaign was shot by Ellen Von Unwerth, and both it and the final ad possess a high fashion gloss that's refreshing to see from a fragrance campaign. Britney is a true chameleon, pulling of the drastically different styling of each look with ease. Watch the full commercial below!

Katy Perry and Beyonce both showed their Obama pride over the weekend.
Photo: Getty

Barack Obama has some seriously heavy hitters in his corner, from Vogue's Anna Wintour, to The New Yorker magazine, to two of the biggest stars in the music game today: Katy Perry and Beyonce Knowles. Katy has been on the road for the incumbent president for a couple of weeks now, performing at campaign rallies and getting people to come out and vote. We all flipped over her latex ballot dress for the "30 Days To Victory Concert," and her Obama manicure and this weekend Katy took her endorsement game even further at a Milwaukee rally, in another latex dress for Obama, this time blue and emblazoned with the campaign's slogan "Forward" and their logo as the 'o.' Meanwhile, Beyonce broke out her Erika Pena "Obama" hoop earrings at the Brooklyn Nets home opening game on Saturday night. IT makes sense that both stars are going all out in the final days of the election, as everyone's voter registration confirmations are coming in and undecided voters are making up their minds. If you're still on the fence, head over to The Power of 12, for all the info you need, and if you missed MTV's interview with President Obama, you can still check it out here. While you might not be wearing Katy's dress to your polling place tomorrow, you can get Bey's easy endorsement look, and you won't even break the bank. We'll tell you how after the jump.

Selena Gomez is adorable, but there's so much more to her than just that. The former Disney star may be most known for her time on the channel, for her pop career with band The Scene, and for her role as half of pop's most powerful couple (the other half being, obviously, Justin Bieber), but beyond the fact that she's breaking into more grown up film roles this year with her part in Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers, which is being released just in time for, yeah, Spring Break in March of 2013, Gomez is showing herself to be whip smart, savvy, and beyond anything else, compassionate and concerned for the world beyond Hollywood. This is why, when Glamour announced this year's Women of The Year, it was no surprise that Selena was it. As the youngest-ever U.S. UNICEF ambassador, Gomez's life isn't all glitz and glam, when she's not working she's out there making a difference all over the world. In the article, Selena talks about visiting Ghana for the United Nations, and even taking part in the Global Poverty Project's Live Below The Line Project, where she spent a week living on just $1.50 a day.

Bill Cunningham taking street style photos.
Photo: @Pennydelossantos Instagram

As New York City begins to pick itself up and dust itself off in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, its residents are slowly trickling back into their offices and onto the streets. The destruction of the storm was unprecedented, and the city (including the staff here at MTV Style) are still feeling the effects. New Yorkers are a dedicated bunch, though, so it should be no surprise that some of the city's most legendary residents are out pounding the pavement and doing what they do best: working. Among them, legendary New York Times street style photographer Bill Cunningham, who was himself snapped, and by another well known photographer no less, while biking around the city in the aftermath of the hurricane. Food photog Penny De Los Santos took a photo of Cunningham after he had taken one of her, according to the caption on Instagram. "And as luck would have it, I had my photo taken by NYT photographer Bill Cunningham yesterday. #sandy" De Los Santos said, including the popular hashtag people have been associating with storm-related posts on social media. We can see why she was unwilling to let Bill stay behind the lens--his own storm style was something totally worth taking note of.

Taylor Swift's Elle Canada Cover.
Photo: Courtesy of Elle Canada

Taylor Swift may have strayed from her sparkly dress wearing past lately, in favor of ladylike a-line dresses and *gasp* pants, but her glittering former signature style is out in full force on the cover of Elle Canada's December issue. The stunning gown calls to mind Tay's nude, sparkly look from her IHeartRadio performance, but, needless to say it takes it to a whole new level. Featuring a form fitting mermaid cut, what appears to be a sweetheart neckline and a long train, the gown would be totally at home on the Oscars red carpet. Taylor pairs the dramatic dress with easy, carefree waves and her signature red pout, making the look, which could so easily be thrown over the top by too-glitzy hair and makeup, look natural and elegant.
