Whether you're going to weekend one or weekend two, there's no denying that Coachella is upon us. That's right, the yearly celebration of bandeau tops, headbands, and...wait, it's about the music? Oh right, we forgot, sorry. Sometimes it can feel like our favorite festivals get a little lost amid all the celeb sightings and street style snaps, but we are a style blog after all and honey, we know you want to look good no matter what. In the true spirit of Coachella, we decided to build a series of looks inspired by some of our favorite bands playing the fest. After all, it's not next-level nerdy (like wearing a band's t-shirt to their show *collar tug*) to dress thematically, right?!

KURT VILE AND THE VIOLATORS

Vibe right to Kurt Vile in easy chambray.

I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that Wakin' On a Pretty Daze is one of the best albums of the year. If you're not familiar with Philly longhair Kurt Vile, familiarize yourself right quick because your life will never be the same. The album is filled with sweeping, chilled out guitar jams that make us feel as warm and fuzzy as a springtime crush, and we just know that seeing Vile play the songs live in the desert will be a moment worth swooning over. For enjoying some Vile in style, you'll want to make sure you have your vibes right. The Summer Feeling Dress ($88.00) from Nasty Gal is a way to wear denim while still feeling breezy, and paired with Marais' field boot ($92.50) you'll be ready for whatever adventurous path the night should take. Of course if we're talking about vibes you need to have your crystals on lock, and this raw rose quartz necklace ($38.00) from Etsy will protect you against anyone or anything that should try and send a bummer your way. Accessories should be kept to a minimum in the hot summer sun, so a simple pink seed bead bracelet ($9.99) from Madewell and a red accented threaded belt ($6.80) will provide a pop of color to keep you from blending in too much with the sky and the earth. Finally, some sunnies, like the SUPER Lucia Puma Sunglasses ($269.00) and a simple cross body bag--so your hands are free to hold tight to whoever makes you feel aforementioned spring crush feelings--like the the Essex Minibag ($98.00) is perfect for carrying anything you might need.

AnnaSophia Robb on the cover of Seventeen.
Photo: Seventeen

Have the Wednesday blues got you down? Well, here's some sparkle to light up your mid-week. AnnaSophia Robb is the May Seventeen cover girl! The Carrie Diaries star is all smiles on not just one but TWO covers of the legendary teen mag, and they're both so cute, please don't make us pick favorites. We can hardly believe it's already summer cover time, but indeed it is, and on the first cover AnnaSophia is wearing a floral swimsuit that has us positively swooning. A structured one piece with a mirror print of english roses and frills at the neckline and around the leg openings, the suit is NOT your average Speedo. Styled with a bright yellow cardigan and chunky, layered necklaces, the cover is part day by the pool, part dress up. Our favorite part, though? You can just make out that our cover girl is wearing bright turquoise eye shadow!

Snoop Lion takes a stand against gun violence with MTV and Jewelry For A Cause.
Photo: Caliber.MTV.Com

In Snoop Lion's new video for "No Guns Allowed" (featuring Drake and Cori B), he takes the issue of gun violence head on, speaking out against the prevalence of firearms while also depicting (sometimes graphically—watch with caution if you have issues viewing things related to guns) the horrors that they create. In association with Snoop and Jewelry For A Cause, MTV has joined the fight to get illegal guns off the street through the new MTV x Caliber bracelet ($40), which is made of recycled steel and still displays the serial numbers of the illegal guns that they were made from. The limited-edition unisex bracelets are now available for pre-order at caliber.MTV.com, and a portion of the proceeds of each bracelet goes to benefit the Newark Police Department's illegal gun buyback program, which is also where the jewelry originated. That's right, each of the MTV x Caliber bracelets comes from a gun that was surrendered to the buyback program and will help fund the continuing existence and success of the program in the future.

Sustainable prom looks from The Reformation.
Photo: The Reformation

Despite all the talk of sustainability and environmental consciousness in the fashion industry these days, it can still be hard to find a prom dress that looks amazing but isn't hurting the earth in the process. Not only are a lot of clothes produced using processes and materials that aren't all that good for the environment, the people producing them, or ultimately the girl wearing them, a lot of clothing is produced in such enormous quantities that a certain amount of waste is inevitable. Don't think that means you have to wear hemp to your prom, though. While one of the biggest trends in socially-conscious formal wear are dresses made of cotton alternatives, that is by no means the only option (although there are also some really rad hemp dresses out there, just saying).

BUY DRESSES MADE OF RECYCLED FABRICS

The first is, of course, to buy a sustainably-produced gown. There are some designers making incredible dresses in an environmentally conscious way, most notably New York City's The Reformation, which uses over 80% reclaimed materials to make some of the most eye-catching dresses and rompers around. We're big fans of the whimsically printed Ladybug Dress ($298); the long sleeved, slit backed Gulf romper ($218); and the sweet and effortless red teepee dress ($188). You may ALSO remember that our Editor-At-Large Mary H.K. Choi wore a romper from the brand to this year's Grammy Awards. See y'all, red carpet tested, prom approved.

Carrie Underwood's three Academy Of Country Music Awards looks.
Photo: Getty

You might not realize it, but here at MTV Style we can get a little bit country. We like to think of ourselves as open-minded, but it doesn't even take an open mind to get down with some of our favorite Nashville ladies. Arguably two of the reigning queens of country, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, took to last night's 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards red carpet AND stage in multiple looks that have us swooning. Both women brought it consistently throughout the night, but we have to talk about Carrie first because not only did she do red carpet to stage style like a pro, but she changed her performance look TWICE throughout the night. Starting out the evening in a floral photo printed Naeem Khan gown and a flippy updo, Underwood was a picture of spring. The dress, which featured a sweetheart neckline, A-line silhouette and contrast black sash, also had an epic blown-up tulip print. A daring choice on a carpet which was otherwise relatively tame, and we're wholly in support of it.

Before we say anything else, we need to tell you about something SUPER exciting happening TONIGHT. Jessie Ware, the British crooner responsible for such songs as "Wildest Moments" and "Sweet Talk," is playing MTV's Artist to Watch Live in New York City, and you can watch it via livestream right here on MTV.com at 9 PM EST. It's going to be great, and you're going to absolutely fall in love with Jessie, if you haven't already, that is. We've been head over heels for her soulful sound AND her signature style ever since we first came across her calling her a rising style star last month for her love of crop tops and wearing pants on the red carpet. We're beyond excited for you to get a chance to get to know her too, which is why we sat her down and had a quick chat about some of her favorite style items, where she gets them, and who she's sweating sartorially.

Breathe, everyone. Get ready. There are A LOT of things we need to talk about with regards to the latest trailer for The Great Gatsby so we want you to be prepared. Baz Lurmann's epic adaptation of the great American novel is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and with its release date rapidly approaching (May 10th, so soon so soon) our excitement is heading into fever pitch territory. We've already learned that the men in the film--none other than the great Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Joel Edgerton—will be outfitted by Brooks Brothers, and that the ladies, most importantly Carey Mulligan's Daisy Buchanan, will be dressed by Miuccia Prada. Vogue got their hands on some exclusive sketches of the Prada looks, so naturally we had our eyes peeled for them when the brand new trailer dropped yesterday. Besides featuring a snippet of Beyonce's cover of "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse, the trailer also has new songs from Lana Del Rey and Florence And The Machine, but the INCREDIBLE soundtrack isn't what we're here to discuss, is it? No, we're here to discuss the AMAZING DRESSES on Carey Mulligan. Deep breaths, it's going to be ok. The trailer features more than SEVEN looks, and those are just the ones we can get a good look at.

A look from The Great Gatsby.
Photo: Youtube

We already know that The Great Gatsby is all about opulence, with the title character's quest for a magical life at the forefront of the narrative, and Mulligan's costumes reflect that desire in their exquisite details and luxurious fabrication. Her first look in the trailer isn't one that we recognize from the Prada sketches, but it could very possibly be one of Miuccia's creations. Dusty purple lace covers Mulligan like a springtime spiderweb, and wisps of fabric bloom from her shoulders like flower petals. While the dress is only visible from the waist up, a blue sash is visible. We're incredibly curious as to the cut of the rest of the dress, and unfortunately the trailer only affords us that one look.

Demi Lovato without makeup (and no, we didn't photoshop this AT ALL).
Photo: @ddlovato Twitter

Holy smokes, Demi Lovato. Ok we're not surprised, but Demi posted a photo of herself bare faced and presumably fresh out of bed this morning and she looks flawless. In a campaign she launched on Twitter this morning, the singer is encouraging her fans to go makeup and Instagram filter free today to show off their natural beauty, and to show them just how committed she is to supporting her Lovatics, she naturally took the plunge first. We want the number of Demi's dermatologist, because it's clear that she takes immaculate care of her skin. While it's too late for us--we already put on our makeup this morning, we LOVE that Demi is encouraging her fans to appreciate and share their natural beauty. It really is sad that a photo of a star without their face on, as they say, is even newsworthy, but these days it really is. And don't let that make you think we don't love makeup, we do, and we love playing around with it and trying new looks, but we also wish there was more room for women to just be themselves.

Hey Miley, where'd you get that jacket?
Photo: Getty

You didn't ask, but in case you're wondering what we dream about, there are a few things, and only one of them is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Another thing we definitely fantasize about is an app that would make it easier to identify the provenance of people's clothing. Can you imagine? You could be walking down the street, see the perfect whatever that you've been looking all over for walking by, and just creepily hold your phone up to the person and instantly have all the information about where their perfect whatever came from. Yeah, so, that might be awkward, but it would also be SO RAD (and totally easy for people who regularly take creepshots/secretly photograph dogs in sweaters on the train). We've become totally addicted to song recognition app Shazam for when we're out at a party and hear an amazing song we've never heard, and the possibility of being able to apply it to other facets of our lives sounds, frankly, too good to be true. Welp, we've got good judgement, because that whole fantasy? It's just that, but the upside is that the technology necessary to make it a reality MIGHT not be so far in the future.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
