Kanye West kicks off Yeezus tour in Seattle.

While you were carving pumpkins and putting the finishing touches on your Halloween costume this weekend, Kanye West was kicking off his Yeezus tour in Seattle. His first solo tour in five years, Yeezy held nothing back, giving his audience a massive show (a two-hour 27-song set list to be exact) complete with an enormous mountain-shaped set, a cameo from Jesus, and of course, a bajillion fashion Easter eggs (our favorite!)—and we're not just talking about MTV News' Rob Markman's first-hand account that Kanye's Red October Yeezy 2s have red glow-in-the-dark soles.

Sexy Food Halloween Costumes

Sexy Pizza, Sexy Fries, and Sexy Burger Halloween costumes.
Photo: Yandy.com

The "sexy" Halloween costume has been a holiday staple of sorts since long before Mean Girls made fun of it in 2006. The practice of young ladies turning lingerie into costumes has been plaguing All Hallows' Eve for at least a decade, and while it may have started with skimpy versions of cop costumes or firefighters or animals, it's since spread to just about everything: "sexy" ninjas, "sexy" children's toys, "sexy" Hannibal Lecter, and who could ever forget those "sexy" Sesame Street characters? Welp, it turns out there are also food costumes. Thus, this week's Food Friday topic.

Given that dressing up as food is notably on-trend this year AND given that the sexualization of Halloween costumes knows no bounds, we should have seen this one coming. I mean, why (other than, you know, a preference for modesty and the fact that late October can get pretty chilly) would you rather wear an XL sweatshirt printed with a blown out photo of greasy pepperoni pizza when you can wear this costume from Yandy.com which comes with a built-in crust neck pillow instead?? And one thing is for sure: a skintight bodycon minidress is exactly what I want to wear after eating super-sized French fries and a Big Mac.

Kanye West

Kanye West on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
Photo: ABC/Jimmy Kimmel Live

I would track the events leading up to Kanye West's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live for you, but then, I'd be here writing the biography of Mr. West and all you really want is more context for the things he said last night. More recently, the Kanye x Kimmel chat can be traced back to the revealing interview Ye had with BBC 1 Radio's Zane Lowe wherein he spoke very candidly about classism in the fashion community, his qualifications as a designer, and how he and Virgil Abloh had the idea for leather jogging pants 6 years ago but were turned down by Fendi. It was impassioned, it was classic Kanye, and it made its way into a Jimmy Kimmel sketch which had kids reenact the interview, bleeps and all.

Welp, Ye didn't find it funny and later took to Twitter to let out his frustrations with Kimmel and the spoof. The tweets (which incidentally revealed that Yeezy is preeeeetty gifted in the ways of Meme Generator) have since been deleted, and the two sat down last night to publicly talk it all out and make nice. As with any time you give Kanye an open platform, the conversation was rife with quotables (shouts to our friends at Buzzworthy for putting them all on t-shirts because duh), but it was also littered with some pretty serious fashion subtext. Thus, we're giving Ye's best fashion quotes a closer look.

Tyler, The Creator

A still from Tyler, The Creator's "Tamale" music video.
Photo: Odd Future Records

Last night, Tyler, The Creator released a music video for his Wolf banger "Tamale." As always, the four-and-a-half minute short is visually stunning, and as always, Wolf Haley finds a way to weave in his Golf Wang designs. (Real talk, if I were a rapper who made and sold clothes, I'd wear them in my videos, too.) The different with "Tamale," though, is that dude (from what we can tell) ALL Golf Wang for the duration of 8 outfit changes from this collegiate donut snapback to the Flog Gnaw beanie and box cutter tee he wears to close out the video. It's basically like a video lookbook for the Fall/Winter 2013 Golf Wang collection.

Along with giving you a chance to role play as someone else—be it superhero, vampire, or Miley CyrusHalloween can also be a good opportunity to show everyone how politically clever/satirical you are (assuming you're not already doing that every week as a member of the Saturday Night Live cast and writing team). Last year, we had the 2012 Presidential Election and that unforgettable Big Bird comment from Mitt Romney as topical inspiration. This year, we have the government shutdown.

CLOSED NATIONAL MONUMENTS

When the government shuts down, so do the government owned and operated national parks and monuments. That means: your plans to visit all those historically rich American landmarks have been foiled until things are back up and running again. Make your Statue of Liberty costume current events-appropriate by wearing a "Sorry, we're closed" sign around your neck. Or go more D.C.-centric as a closed Lincoln Memorial.

I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Miley Cyrus is having the best year (as far as notoriety, anyway) EVER, and this week surrounding the release of her Bangerz album drop—her first new music since her dramatic image overhaul and the pixie cut heard 'round the world—has been one of the biggest. On top of the album, there was the launch of her Miley: The Movement documentary and of COURSE, her stint as both musical guest and HOST of Saturday Night Live this weekend. We already know that Miles is a world-class chameleon, off-stage AND on (shape-shifting was basically the entire premise of Hannah Montana, right??), but SNL tooks things to the next level. While we typically reserve our Look By Look breakdowns for music videos, we're making an exception because this is toooootally worth it.

VMA INTRO SKETCH

Hey look! It's us! Miley's now infamous MTV VMA performance obviously needed to be addressed in her hosting episode, and why better time to do it than at the top of the show? And Miles even brought back her silver fuzzy bear leotard (sans nude latex) and baby raver buns for the occasion.

OPENING MONOLOGUE

For her opening monologue, M kept the two-knot 'do (let's be honest, there was no time to switch styles) but wore it with a vintage Versace houndstooth suit set with a double-breasted cropped jacket (modified to be extra cropped) and zippered pencil skirt. Not pictured: Bobby Moynihan doing his best Wrecking Ball nude.

If you're anything like us, the card-carrying Smilers over hurr at MTV, you've probably watched our brand new Miley Cyrus documentary, Miley: The Movement, about a gazillion times. You've pulled stills for your Facebook cover photo. You've looked up where to cop those medallion and chain Versus Versace leggings she sports on the plane. You've even memorized all the quotes. Far be it from us to recap what you already know, learned, and have imprinted forever. What we WILL do, though, is try to enlighten you to a few fashion Easter eggs from the doc that you might have missed.

DETACHABLE RAT TAIL

OK, so there's no way you missed the rat tail Miley wears shooting her Bangerz album package. Not with all the whipping she did with it. (P.S. if you want more GIFs, our friends at Buzzworthy have, like, a jillion more!) But what you might not have realized was that it was completely and very easily detachable. Pay close attention to the scene where she's talking to her mom about it. Miley just snaps it off mid-conversation!

Rihanna

Behind the scenes of Rihanna's "Pour It Up" music video.
Photo: Rihanna's YouTube Channel

Remember that time Rihanna posted a kajillion "Pour It Up" photos to Instagram with barely any comment? In the first installment, there was a soaking wet lavendar romper, a fishnet bodysuit, a white curly flapper wig, and gobs of jewels. Then, there was the resurrection of the DENIM THONG alongside what looks like a distant gem encrusted cousin of her 2013 Crop Over costume. NOW, *drumrollll* she's revealed a behind-the-scenes video of the making of her "Pour It Up" music video, and you can see all of the above IN. LIVE. ACTION. Also, pole dancers.
