Frank Ocean

Umm. Is it just us or is Frank Ocean's 2013 Grammys performance look tooootally channeling Richie Tenenbaum (Luke Wilson)? Not to, like, completely debase Ocean's earnest live rendition of "Forrest Gump," but we couldn't help but see the resemblance to the brooding Wes Anderson character. This might also be because The Royal Tenenbaums are often at the forefront of our minds when refering to Frank because of his Instagram handle: francistenenbaum. Either way, seeing the two looks side-by-side really hammers the point home. Between the nautical striped sweatband and the light-colored suit (though, Ocean opts for a pastel yellow over Richie's tawny camel), the likeness is unmistakable, AMIRITE??

Remember how CBS issued that wardrobe advisory for the 2013 Grammys? Their short blurb of arguably clunky language stumbled over chuckle-worthy dress code edicts like, "Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack," and "Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples," and quite possibly our personal favorite, "Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible 'puffy' bare skin exposure." WOWOWOW. *shudders, dry heaves* We're still not totally sure what "puffy" skin is a euphemism for, but there was probably a star on the Grammys red carpet that bunked it since SO many ladies and gents (ex: Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kelly Rowland, deadmau5 just to rattle off a few) knowingly broke the rules. Need a more in-depth breakdown? We can do that for you. LEGGO!

RIHANNA'S SHEER DRESS

Rihanna

Rihanna just finished another performance and wore a severely cropped top that we're sure jump-started so many crossed fingers and toes for a wardrobe malfunction, but it's RiRi's red custom Alaia that first landed her on the dress code offenders list. While beautiful, the one-off gown directly conflicts with the, "Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples," note. We're sure the self-proclaimed bad gal would have one response to that: #phuckyodresscode.

Beyonce

Beyonce and Jay-Z at the 2013 Grammy Awards.
Photo: Getty Images

In a stark contrast to her Super Bowl halftime show outfit, Beyonce stood out on the 2013 Grammys red carpet by being covered up. Bey's been on a black-and-white ensemble kick recently from her striped rehearsal onesie to her hotly coveted geometric jacquard leggings, but her most major grayscale moment of late HAS to be her leaked Vogue magazine cover wherein King Bey is rocking minimalist retro makeup and a crisp asymmetrical Givenchy look. Bey carries over the stark black-and-white steez over to Grammy night with this Osman Yousefzada short-sleeved pantsuit. While many other ladies were busy raising eyebrows and breaking dress code, Bey strictly adhered and still looked certifiably bananas. She kept her beauty subdued with an austere center-parted pony and bright red lips. Mod AND modest. The best part? She and her No. 1 boo-slice, hubby Jay-Z are MATCHING in the classic colorway. (Also maybe repping the Brooklyn Nets?) Oh Mrs. Carter, you make our hearts sing.

herve leger max azria fall 2013

Looks from Herve Leger's Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week show.
Photo: Getty Images

Typically when we think of Herve Leger, we think of curve-hugging evening wear for all your saucy cocktail needs. While that may forever be the case for the major fashion label's Spring/Summer collections from here to kingdom come, the Fall/Winter offerings of late have been delightfully surprising for the Max Azria-helmed line. The leather harnesses that made their debut on the French label's Fall/Winter 2012 runway were carried over slight for the subsequent season, but now that the designs have come the full 360 to colder weather, the waist-defining leather work makes a roaring comeback for Fall/Winter 2013. Instead of adorning flowing Grecian-inspired gowns or flippy fringed flapper dresses, this season, the harnesses sit on top of clingy, long-sleeved dresses in solid black, hunter green, and oxblood or symmetrical, digitally-rendered animal prints. There's a tinge of '90s bad girl to everything — from dresses worn over pants (in the same pattern!) to belly-baring crop tops to the solid baseball caps every girl sported down the catwalk.

Mara Hoffman

It seems Mara Hoffman lives in a gypset world of eternal sunshine. She's the queen of color and dazzling, well-traveled prints year-round, but it's now, in the dredges of winter, that we appreciate her sunny design disposition most. The collection Mara unveiled today was steeped in corals, cobalts, and ultra fuschias with intricate, symmetrical prints, seemingly influenced by all corners of the world — speckled radials, stained glass motifs, and technicolor zebra stripes. Whether silhouettes were body-conscious or floaty and ethereal, every ensemble on Mara's runway was striking and dramatic. Models were accessorized with metal cap-toe shoes, Pamela Love armor rings, and earring chains draped from lobe to lobe across each model's back and long hair.

Beyonce

Beyonce wore Givenchy to the 2012 Met Gala.
Photo: Getty Images

While you were out flooding Instagram with pictures of your snow day (or your otherwise Saturday morning for anyone out of the range of Winter Storm Nemo), Beyonce's Vogue cover leaked courtesy of Beyonce Fan vertical BeyonceLite. Mrs. Carter graces the March "Power Issue" cover, a vision of feminine strength. Her hair, a tawny brown, is swept up in a chic updo, and her beauty look is matte and natural with peachy beige-colored lipstick and winged double eyeliner. The makeup is continued into the inside pages where Queen Bey shape-shifts between scarlet boudoir wear and floaty separates, but it's on the cover that she wears the MOST boss lady outfit of them all: crisp, asymmetrical Givenchy that's both soft and stalwart.

Charlotte Ronson

Charlotte Ronson's uncanny ability to capture all a girl's potential moods in a single, cohesive collection makes her shows consistently one of our most-anticipated every Fashion Week. While C.Ronson opted for a presentation this season rather than a runway show, the clothes were nothing short of covetable. The format for the designer's newest collection reveal may be different, most everything else remained constant. PYTs like Angela Simmons and Holland Roden still turned up in droves (even through Nemo's wintery mix!). The looks created by Charlotte were still both strikingly unique yet also ceaselessly wearable. And of course, her twin and reknowned DJ/musician Samantha Ronson flew in from sunny LA to spin her show soundtrack.

Andrej Pejic and her Galore collab t-shirt.
Photo: Getty Images/Courtesy of Galore/Prince and Jacob

The world of fashion collaborations isn't limited to pop stars and rappers. Not if Andrej Pejic has anything to do with it. The androgynous model has teamed up with Galore magazine's Prince Chenoa and Jacob Dekat for the collaborative tee she wore to the Galore Fashion Week party earlier this week, kicking off what Pejic has told us will evolve into a full line of t-shirts. "I've definitely always wanted to launch something in fashion," Pejic explained, "This t-shirt with Galore is just a warm up, actually, since I plan to start my own line of t-shirts. I'm launching it with my website that will be up in a month. I decided I needed to be more interactive with my fans since nobody knows my fans better than I do. I want to be able to communicate with them so it'll feature a blog and news updates." Exciting!

Justin Bieber

Photo: Courtesy of NBC/Dana Edelson

Judging from the constant activity on the #BieberOnSNL trending topic, we're not the only ones SUPER excited for Justin Bieber's doubled-up Saturday Night Live stint as host AND musical guest tomorrow night. It's not Bieber's first go-around at Studio 8H. Justin was the musical guest for Tina Fey's episode in 2010 (back when he was still rocking his signature "Bieber Hair"!!!) but was game enough to squeeze into a sketch of his own. Tomorrow night, though, The Biebs is putting on his big-boy pants (most likely of the sagging variety) for his first time hosting the whooooole show. Haven't reached critical mass of dizzying excitement yet? Maybe these behind-the-scenes snaps of Justin in swaggy leather jackets from his bumper photoshoot and rehearsals will send you over the edge.

A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky chats us up at Black Scale.
Photo: MTV

Not like it's news to anyone who's ever seen or heard anything about him, but we just have to reiterate it: A$AP Rocky is one seriously fashionable dude. (Along with being a talented rapper, having a great ear for beats, and watching his premier album Long. Live. A$AP. debut at No. 1 on Billboard, of course.) The 24-year-old Harlem native doesn't just rap about fashion killas, he is one. And it's not just that he knows how to put together an outfit. What makes Rocky such a particularly devastating fashion one-two punch is the volatile combination of his keen eye for couture paired with straight-out-of-the-cradle streetwear savvy.
