Macklemore switches up his looks at 2013 Hangout Fest.
Photo: MTV/Gil Kaufman

There are a few style things about Macklemore that we know to be unequivocally true: he's not afraid of a little Southwestern vibe, he's into fur coats, and there is a 99.9999% chance he will wear a tank top on stage. SO imagine our unbridled excitement when he adhered to not one, not two, but all three fashion truths AND gave us an extra outfit during Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's multi-song performance at this weekend's 2013 Hangout Music Festival! The moment was major to say the least.

Justin Bieber

It should probably come as no surprise that Justin Bieber wore leather to the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. In fact, weeee can't really recall a time in the recent past when Biebs hasn't performed in SOME iteration of the luxe material. And sure, he's even been known to rep head-to-toe leather on occasion, but we're shining a major spotlight on The Biebs and his love of tanned hide NOW because that's pretty much ALL he wore tonight. He skipped the red carpet, but his grand entrance for a "Bieber Air"-themed performance of "Take You" was dripping with leather from his custom one-armed jacket to his extra tight drop-crotch trousers. We had barely stopped reeling from his mirrored Top Gun shades when Biebs returned to the stage to accept an award in ANOTHER all-leather look—this one a slightly unbuttoned baseball jersey and slightly baggier drop-crotch pants.

Selena Gomez

Talk about a change of pace! Earlier tonight, Selena Gomez hit the 2013 Billboard Music Awards red carpet in bright, neon, summery Atelier Versace—a vision of '90s raver steez updated for the step-and-repeat. For her performance, though, Selly opted for warm metallics and over-the-top glamour, swaddling herself in all-gold-everything from the tippy-top of her fashion bindi to the hem of her shimmering double-slit curtain skirt. Gomez performed her hit single "Come And Get It" in an ensemble we're affectionately referring to as "Bollywood meets that one Princess Leia outfit courtesy of Jabba The Hut *WINK*, also Barbarella"—point being, girl looked HOTT (two Ts very necessary).

Happy Sunday, y'all! You know it's a good weekend when you can cap it off snuggling up at home for hours upon hours of awards show antics. Tonight, we're settling in for a landslide of summer red carpet steez and performance outfits as the 2013 Billboard Music Awards get underway. The show itself doesn't start until 8 p.m. EST, but the red blue carpet is already heating up as our girl Selena Gomez has just hit the step-and-repeat. It's an earlier-than-usual entrance for Selly, but that's because she's also performing tonight.

We know the current generation of NBA players is serious about style, from the rampant post-game podium fashion this Playoffs season to the faux-glasses Finals of last year. Welp, now the league, the ENTIRE organization, is following suit. Recognizing that the focus on professional basketball players as fashion icons is growing exponentially as we speed toward the 2013 Finals, the NBA is taking style seriously, both with a dedicated NBA Style reporting crew AND finding a Style Correspondent in Baron Davis. Davis has played for teams across the country but most recently for the New York Knicks before a knee injury had him off the court for the past year. We know the dude is very active in film, having starred as himself and dabbled in acting in several movies AND starting his own production company (Verso Entertainment) with high school friend (also, Jessica Alba's husband) Cash Warren, but Davis as a decreed fashion authority? This is a new look.

Baron's duties as NBA Style Correspondent, so far, comprise of putting together a video package on players' style today. Davis' background in film makes him an excellent candidate for this, but until now, we really had no evidence that he could talk shop about the sartorial world. After watching the clip, we totally recognize that he can as he highlights the ways that dudes like LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Dwyane Wade are breathing new life into looks that were actually worn by previous generations of players, calling out hoops legends like Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, and Clyde Frazier. Since this is the only official style-related title Baron has been bestowed to date, we figured we'd take a spin through his fashion history to help further prove he's a good man for the job.

It's not easy to infuse individual style into a mandated uniform, but Baron Davis did it through years of solid sweat/headbands.

Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, oh no-no! Get ready to feel (kinda) old. It's been 10 years since the release of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love." 10 years. I don't know about you, but I remember the exact moment I first saw this music video. It was the spring of my freshman year of high school. I had just moved to Virginia after two years living on an overseas Air Force base in South Korea where we were on a pretty significant pop culture lag. To put it in perspective, it was also at this time when I was just discovering who Kelly Clarkson was, more than 8 months after the rest of America had crowned her their Idol and sweetheart. I knew who Beyonce was, though, because I was (still am) a raging Destiny's Child fan. My family and I had just arrived at the on-base temporary living facility where we would post up for the next month or two, and I flipped on MTV to play in the background while I unpacked. I lucked out with a block of music videos, a huge win on timing. A few songs played that I knew and liked, and then, that horn section loop came in. Jay's voice. "It's your girl, Bey!" I didn't know what it was, but I dropped everything, directed my full attention to the video, and mentally imprinted every second that followed for permanent safe-keeping.

I've always been the kind of girl who feels most at-home being (or pretending to be) "one of the boys," but I had to admit: Beyonce and "Crazy In Love" made embracing all your woman-ness look pretty badass. I was mesmerized by her ability to exude strength in a way that wasn't bullish and somehow, simultaneously, be very feminine in a way that wasn't breakable, a way that I actually wanted to identify with. Dresses looked less grossly epicene to me when they were bookending an outfit comprised of a ballcap, cropped satin bomber jacket, and gigantic low-slung pants. And at 14 years old, all of it felt ground-breaking. There are a lot of moments that make Beyonce the colossal star she is today, but it's this moment, this "Crazy In Love" music video, that will always make me a Beyonce fan. Thus, I invite you to celebrate with me the 10th anniversary of its release (the official date is this Saturday) in the only way a creature raised by the interwebz knows how: ANALYZING THE MUSIC VIDEO FASHION VIA INFINITY (alright, 20) GIFS! All while switching back and forth between the OG version and Emeli Sande's Gatsby cover. Enjoy!

It's one of the simplest but also one of the most iconic looks of Bey's career.

Plain white tanks never looked so good. Incidentally, we just learned this year that the top isn't as plain as we once thought. Beyonce's long-time stylist Ty Hunter explained in a behind-the-scenes video from her most recent Pepsi commercial that it was actually covered in tiny rhinestones!

The Office

"The Office" Stan Swag that'll run your credit card bill up higher than Kelly Kapoor's.
Photo: Society 6/Etsy/NBC Universal Store

Is this real life? Is The Office really over? We've already had to carry on in a world without 30 Rock, and now NB "we [peacock] comedy" C is bidding adieu to our OTHER Thursday night mainstay? *weeps single tear into remnants of sad desk salad* Welp, whether we want it to or not, The Office ends tonight with a special two-hour season finale starting at 8 p.m. EST tonight. After 9 years of mockumentary bliss, we say farewell to the beloved staff of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, Scranton Branch in just a few hours. BUT before they go, we suggest you stock up on some priceless The Office-themed Stan Swag, some cool fan merch to pepper throughout your life in a post-Jim Halpert universe because you're gonna want to fill that void after tonight's series finale. (That's what she said.)

Demi Lovato

Remember how Demi Lovato told us on "Live From MTV" her only form of rebellion was tattoos and hair color? Welp, she covered the tonsorial portion last week with her new blonde dye job, and NOW, she's racked up another tatt. Scrawled on the back of her left shoulder, the ink reads, "now I'm a warrior"—a lyric from "Warrior," the last track of the record. Demi tweeted a picture of her fresh body art with the caption, "Thanks @BangBang! Album release day!!! #DEMI." YUP, the ink is in celebration of her new album, DEMI. AWWwwww!

crazy cat bikini

Would you wear this crazy cat bikini?

Fellow East Coast dwellers might have a hard time believing this, but summer is, in fact, on its way. It's a slow crawl for those of us along the Atlantic, but *shrugs* we'll wait it out. In the meantime, though, we're combing the interwebz for SWIMWEAR! Hey, it's slightly more "productive" than binge-watching throwback episodes of Arrested Development, right? Amidst our hunt, hoarding all our links and wants in our Svpply profiles, we happened upon this little string number. Sold separately, these pieces are aptly titled "Crazy Cat Triangle Top" and "Crazy Cat String Bottom," and are definitely one way to turn heads at the beach/lake/pool this summer.

Demi Lovato

BRB guys. We're just STILL having a heart attack (get it?) from Demi Lovato gracing our offices with her radiant presence yesterday. The golden-throated pop star stopped by our Times Square headquarters less than 24 hours ago to chat LIVE with MTV News' Christina Garibaldi and a few lucky Lovatics in celebration of the official release of her brand new album DEMI. Along with talking about her eponymously titled record, Miss Lovato played a few DEMI themed games, including one with a similar idea as Pictionary that went hilariously awry. Apparently, our girl D, like us, has a pretty lewd sense of humor, but it's her ability to balance that with looking totally poised and professional that makes us love her so much.
