We love when everyday items get some added glitz. And lately, that means adding some studs, beads, and other sparkly pieces to black minis, like AnnaLynne McCord, who we spotted in a studded skirt a few weeks ago. Want to snag something similar? Dolce Vita does a great zip front mini with rows of studs in different shapes and colors ($165). For a wraparound look, try a black skirt with shiny brass studs from Rachel Roy’s lower-priced line RACHEL ($99). And Steve Madden has a similar high-waisted style, complete with rows of studs and a front zipper at a steal-worthy price of $26.40 (it's on sale!). Our major tip for trying this trend? Nab this studded skirt in black only (as seen here), otherwise risk looking cheap, not chic.

+ Price: $26.40 to $165.

• Do you like Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel's jacket on or off? YOU VOTED OFF! See picture at right for proof.

Lady Gagathe queen of performance outfits (and costume inspiration!) — was nominated 13 times for the 2010 Video Music Awards. We can't wait to see what she wears.

Emma Watson cut her hair! So did Brody Jenner! EVERYONE FREAK OUT!!!

• Bloggers showed us how to style long black dresses. Thanks! We needed it.

• We talked to stylist-cum-designer Taylor Jacobson about California girl style (Audrina and Katy Perry, included).

• There were lots of animal inspired headwear this week. From an antler-clad Mary-Kate Olsen to a glitter-spewing, fur hat sporting Ke$ha, we were left wondering how many animals may have just lost their heads.

• Gymnastics Champ Nastia Liukin gave us her take on the celeb leotard trend. We wonder what she'd have to say about Katy Perry's tutu.

• Trends of the week: Heels got spikey, black blazers are still a must-have, Vera Wang wedding gowns, and side braids look so great. And the best: LEOPARD IS IN.

Taylor Momsen wore pants (!!!) to the launch of Material Girl, which means now you can finally get your hands on some Madonna- and Lola-designed goodies.

OK, we're outta here! Time to enjoy August ... before September happens.

Beige, summer’s must-have shade, isn't just for clothes. Right now, it's must-have for beauty as well, particularly the lips, as proven by celebs like Lea Michele, Eva Mendes, Emma Roberts, Stephanie Pratt, and Kristin Cavallari. And that means we're itching to snag some, especially ones that have a slight hint of shimmer without turning your lips into a sparkle factory. One of our favorite new hues is nearly-sheer Liquid Lurex ($14.50) from M.A.C.'s new Digi-Pop collection, which has little specks of glitter in it. Because it is so sheer, it's great to wear alone, but you can also turn it into something vivid by layering it on top of your favorite deep berry shade. For more pigment, try Shu Uemura's Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in 906 ($23), which goes on as a more saturated nude. And if you want an even deeper, richer neutral, try Nars's Satin Lipstick in Promiscuous ($24), which we love for its bronze undertones. Go ahead, shine on.

+ Price: $14.50 to $24.

We're scarily nearing that time of year when summer shifts into fall and we’re left wondering what shoes to wear. But now we’ve found our solution: Shoe designer Jeffrey Campbell teamed up with Pixie Market to create these lace-up sandals that are perfect for crossover seasons. The shoes, which feature a small wedge heel, come in two different styles. If you like solids, go for the Hutton ($134), made with a suede army green fabric and camel leather trim that will match perfectly with all the rich jewel tones that are coming out for fall. We also adore the printed style, named Austen ($114), which is black cotton with a pink and white floral pattern on top. Slide these on over a pair of opaque black stockings and you've got yourself a perfect fall look.

+ Price: $114 to $134.

LBD doesn't stand for Little Black Dress, anymore. Superlong maxi skirts are the cute, comfortable update to the black dress look, which is why LBD now also represents Long Black Dress. We never thought of cinder blocks as fashionable items. But these new construction-inspired charm necklaces from The Future Perfect have convinced us otherwise. We love how a shiny gold hue adds life to the chunky cement block ($130), and the swirling slender drill bit ($100) totally takes us back to middle school shop class — which we failed, for the record. Of course, you could wax philosophical and say that these represent the building blocks of life and blah, blah, blah, but really they're just a cool spin on charm necklaces that make us totally forget that we can't build anything. Unless it's made of Legos.

The print on Anthropologie’s Copan bag ($49.95) looks like it came straight out of South America. It features saturated shades of grass green, turquoise, pale pink, and rich Bordeaux, which create a woven pattern-on-pattern effect. But more than the print, we're loving the functionality of this thing. The bag includes three inner pockets to stash all your stuff, and the envelope style means that nothing will fall out the top when you're darting around town. Bonus? Convert the crossbody style into a roomy clutch by tucking in the straps.

We were majorly inspired when we saw all the pretty patterned dresses Whitney Port's been wearing lately, like the Matthew Williamson dress that she wore to The Hills: A Hollywood Ending and the fun Moschino frock she wore the Much Music Awards. So we figured we’d take a page out of Ms. Port’s fashion agenda and try and get our hands on a colorful dress of our own. Enter Motel Rocks’ Celia Dress in Peacock Red ($54). With its square sleeveless shoulders and sheer back, this dress not only has tons of color — think vibrant turquoise, cherry red, and stripes galore — but also super-sexy. Pair it with black brogues during the day for a casual look, or dress it up for evening with nude pumps.

One brand that we've been keeping our eyes on is Urban Decay. Half of the company's line is vegan-friendly, which means there are no animal byproducts or animal testing, which is great for animal lovers anywhere (like us!). That's why we were so excited when they decided to release a limited-edition Vegan Palette this month ($34), which features six of their top-selling vegan shades in one place. The kit includes some fabulous fall shades like deep brown (Twice Baked), gray (Gunmetal), and shimmery bronze (Smog), as well as a standout turquoise (Minx). While the colors seem overly saturated, they actually go on quite sheer, which is perfect if you need a quick swoop across the lids. Plus, the palette includes other vegan items to make your eyes pop, like primer, liner, and a mirror for on-the-go touch ups. Even the packaging is vegan-friendly as well, adorned with intricate colorful images of animals made with soy-based inks. We're definitely going to bring this with us everywhere.

This cocktail ring is one piece of jewelry we'd want to find digging through our grandmother’s closet. The big and brassy accessory features a Victorian-style clipper ship (so unique!) and scalloped detailing on the edges, which make the ring look much more expensive than its $30 price tag. It’s a great change of pace from the oversize gemstones that are everywhere right now, and the ring’s calm shades of brown and taupe would look perfect with the awesome black lace tops and dresses that are big for fall.
