The year of two thousand and thirteen came bearing gifts of gold, going shirtless, and Beyonce, but right now, we're focusing on GOLD. Here are five of our favorite pieces of golden glam we added to our closets this year. *sits down*

Jeremy Scott kicked off the holiday season with a tinsled bang this November, dropping gold and silver versions of his iconic teddy bear sneakers as part of his ongoing collab with Adidas Originals. These sparkling beauties feature open-armed teddy bears and matching gold laces, glinting and gleaming atop glittered gum soles. Glitter in the sole = glitter in the soul. Add that sparkly stuff to anything and watch how quickly it becomes my beary fave. *ba dum TSH*

Leah & David / Joyrich Clothing, L.A.
Photo: Joyrich / GIF: Rory Rockmore

Joyrich is one of those brands that if you haven't heard of it, you're definitely about to and if nothing else, you've CERTAINLY seen it. With major presence in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Japan and, of course, here in the U.S., the label's vibrant graphics and ultra-saturated palette are gloriously frenzied when worn head-to-toe and perfect for accent pieces as well. Plus, seriously, check out their blog if you haven't already. Such good feedin'.

ANYWAY, while we were in L.A. we (editor's note: well, only Rory went and returned with a KILLER TAN and leopard print EVERYTHING) caught up with the folks responsible for the aesthetic, Leah Schmidt and David Melgar (known as Leah & David [no surnames needed]) who took us behind-the-scenes at their Spring/Summer 2012 lookbook shoot. We got to spend some QT with the dynamic duo who design, blog, run the daily operations whilst being CUHRAZY entertaining and looking fantastic. Obvi. So stay tuned and learn a thing or seven.

Leading girl group 2NE1 attends the Adidas Originals Collaboration with Jeremy Scott and 2NE1 Launching show on Nov. 1, 2011, in Seoul, South Korea.
Photo: Han Myung-Gu/

Blackjacks* and Jeremy Scott STANS rejoice...twice! The K-Pop Sensation and the Street Style King of All Things Outside The Box have collaborated on two different variations of the Adidas Originals JS Wing shoe, and these MIGHT be two of the most sickening shoes we’ve ever seen. #SHOEICIDE.

The multicolored Original Wings are the epitome of Jeremy Scott, and if you’re at all familiar with 2NE1 and its super-contagious, percussive, badass music you can easily see the group's role as the inspiration. These shoes are a lot to look at because there’s so much variety in the color/pattern, but if you're confident enough to pull them off you know you could wear them with anything. THEY. POP.

There's ALSO an elegant alternative in a much more subtle, white satin colorway. These have heaven/spring/Diddy's White Party written all over them. Put down your Red Bull, folks, because Jeremy and the ladies of 2NE1 have just given you wingsssssss.

All of this, PLUS, did you know our boy Jeremy Scott will be in attendance at this year's EMA's?! He joins the likes of all of our favorite celebs, like Katy Perry, Evanescence singer Amy Lee, Hayden Panettiere, supermodels Bar Refaeli and Irina Shayk, David Hasselhoff, and WWE superstar Sheamus, with performances by Justin Bieber and David Guetta. Love.

If you're still wondering who 2NE1 is, it's time you got into them. Click here to peep their latest video for "I'm The Best" and prepare to be inspired. We're serious...these bishes WERK.

*Blackjacks = Fans of 2NE1, pronounced “Twenty One”… also known as… well… Blackjack.

Jonny Makeup at the Jeremy Scott NYFW afterparty.

Were you to look up Jonny Makeup on these here interwebs, you would learn that he is a performer, writer, and great American socialite. What that means is that his pretty mug has appeared on American Apparel ads as well as their tees, he's had a criminally underrated fledgling rap career (he and his crew the V.I.P. Party Boys are marvelous and have appeared on Cobra Starship's "Damn You Look Good and I'm Drunk"), and there exist about one bazillion photos of him in Google images where he's hugging up on everyone from Paris Hilton to Peaches Geldof. Since he decamped for sunny Los Angeles from New York, we had the pleasure of bumping into Mister Makeup at Jeremy Scott "Lust in the Dust" SS2012 fashion show, where we chatted about his newest hustle—buyer for the hipster party photographer Mark "the Cobrasnake" Hunter's new digi-retail store, The Cobra Shop.

Diesel Black Gold SS 2012.
Photos: Getty Images

Diesel Black Gold certainly knows how to make a statement, and this New York Fashion Week collection took it up a notch by adding bold pops of colorful metallics to its characteristic neutral beige palette—and I can't say I'm mad at it. Green, eggplant, and navy dominated the color spectrum, and this spring you can expect to see a lot of layering for those days when you're not sure if it's going to be 50 degrees or 80.

The overriding silhouettes are clean and structured, with exaggerated collars that harken back to the past, with the off-white color block swing cape + gold mini resembling a badass Jackie O with a dash of dystopian future. Many of the pieces are perfect for transitioning from a day to night look, as most looks included a light jacket. Also, COMPLETELY IN LOVE with the notion of pairing metallics on metallics. Due to the varied textures and the contrast of what's worn too can do shine-on-shine without totally looking like an astronaut. In my opinion, TOO MUCH is just enough, and as you can see here, the silver top paired with the fitted purple crop pants is actually working.

(Click HERE for the uncensored version) The men's collection is the perfect introduction to metallics for dudes who maaaaaay not be totally comfortable rockin' reflective surfaces. It takes a certain kind of man to pull off the look, but here you see metallic leather pants paired with darker layers on top to even the still masculine look out. I'm also living for the three-piece suit look sans tie.

There is, however, one problem...and it's a HUGE problem...the footwear. Now, I've always trusted Diesel and I'll continue to trust them, BUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE TEVAS???!!!! In my opinion, there is never (NOR WILL THERE EVER BE) a reason to wear strapped sandals (even with sexy metallic accents) unless you're a middle schooler at summer camp or an adult doing something nature-related, about which I can't even speak to specifics

Kristin Cavallari, Kim Kardashian, and Katy Perry in Brian Lichtenberg.
Photo: Getty Images

On Monday night, I stopped by the Brian Lichtenberg X Greko Sklavounos party at Le Bain, hosted by the stunning Cassie, for the release of their collaborative video installation "Song of the Siren." Brian is an L.A.-based designer who has outfitted EVERYBODY from Shakira to Nicki Minaj, and his extended celeb hit list includes Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, M.I.A., Paris Hilton, Kreayshawn, Kristin Cavallari, Nicole Scherzinger, and Ciara, to name a few. Greko, Brian's collaborator, is a director and photographer also based out of Los Angeles whose work has appeared in Dazed & Confused, WWD, and Vogue Hommes Japan.

Brian was gracious enough to take a few minutes to dish about whether he'd be designing maternity wear for Beyoncé , his love of all things fur, and of course Grace Jones (or in this case, Grace "Bones," but more on that later).

Timo Weiland Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week.
Photo: Getty Images

I just got home from my first ever New York show and I can't think of anyone else I'd like to have given my Fashion Week V-Card to other than New York-based designers, Timo Weiland. Now, let me explain the plural. So, yes, Timo Weiland is a real-life person but the kiiiinda eponymous line is comprised of Timo AND his designer partner Alan Eckstein. ANYWAY, I was anxious when I finally got to The Studio at Lincoln Center, but shortly after checking in I discovered my seat had been upgraded to the second row, which, let me tell you, does a lot to calm the nerves...

Onward! OK, FOR ALL THE LADIES IN THE PLACE WHO GOT REAL HAIR, REAL FINGER NAILS (*Fat Man Scoop voice*) are my favorites. I'm a sucker for a onesie, so as soon as I saw homegirl step out the gate in a loooow, scoop-necked, short-short overalls situation I knew it'd be a top choice. Not to mention I'm loving the extra-long neon flower necklace by Subversive for a bit of BOOM in your otherwise tame color palette. The two-piece floral teal look was similarly a crowd-pleaser, as it had everyone on the edge of their seats trying to snap pics on their Berrys.

When you're spending Fashion's Night Out at Patricia Field, you have no choice but to step out in the tightest zebra pants you can find. RESPECT. Tonight I had the honor of hitting TWO House of Field Fashion's Night Out parties—both hosted by Miss F herself, of course—at the Patricia Field Boutique AND the new Veselka restaurant in downtown NYC. It was a night of art and fashion that only Pat could pull off.

Trash and Vaudeville opened in 1975 and has been serving up rock-and-roll realness ever since. Born out of the 1970s rock and punk scene on St. Mark's Place in New York City, the store prides itself on providing a variety of alternative fashions for everyone from rockers to punks, goths, rappers, and pop starlets, to the everyday working class hero who just wants to walk on the wild side in some leopard pants.

I was introduced to Trash and Vaudeville when I first moved to the city and it's been a staple in my life and wardrobe ever since. When you step into Trash and Vaudeville you'll instantly feel at home, and Jimmy—the manager and buyer—will make sure of it. Jimmy Webb, or Jimmy from Trash and Vaudeville (his official name), was the first person to help me out and the person to sell me my first pair of leopard-print pants. "You can go a size down," he told me, as I'm squeezing into my animal-print second skin. If there is one thing this man's EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING in that store.

As you can see from our video tour, he's MAJOR and if you get the chance to have Jimmy himself or someone on his team hook you up with your back-to-school gear, you should consider yourself blessed. Jimmy has worked with celebs like Lil' Wayne, Paramore, Avril Lavigne, Slash, My Chemical Romance, Agyness Deyn, and (his all-time fav) Iggy Pop, just to name a few.
