Flares for Spring 2012 at Betsey Johnson, Alice + Olivia, and Anna Sui during New York Fashion Week.

We'll always have a soft spot for the skinny pant leg, but if there's anything we picked up from New York Fashion Week's Spring 2012 shows, it's that billowy flares are back. It's as if the fashion gods have decided to give us all some breathing room from skintight silhouettes. To be sure, retro flared pants have enjoyed a surge of popularity recently, but never in such fun, playful prints as seen on the runways of Betsey Johnson, Alice + Olivia, and Anna Sui.

If I were still with my Star Wars-obsessed ex-boyfriend, I'd probably be bidding on this Adidas X Star Wars Stormtrooper Helmet for his Christmas present or a "just because" gift ('cause, you know, I was an excellent girlfriend AND I REALLY HOPE HE'S READING THIS). That's because, despite the fact that the helmet is made using two pairs of Adidas shoes and mouth-breathing into sneaker all day long isn't necessarily my idea of a fabulous time (also, masks are scary, let's face [heh] it), I recognize the unbelievable creativity behind this piece. SO SICK.

Made by Freehand Profit for Star Wars Remix, where artists "remix" elements to create their favorite scenes or characters from the movies, this one-of-a-kind work of art is constructed with Adidas X Star Wars Superskate Mids that are intricately twisted, molded, and shaped to encase an EFX Studio Stormtrooper prop helmet. And it's not merely decorative; the helmet, complete with holes for important stuff such as breathing and vision, is ACTUALLY WEARABLE for occasions like Halloween, sci-fi cons, looking awesome, ruling at life, and vanquishing your foes because their heads have exploded from jealousy. See, these freakin' shoes are basically doing you, like, nine favors. Bid now!

The 2011 NIKE MAG shoe and Michael J. Fox in 1989's "Back to the Future II."
Photo: Nike

Ever since we first saw Back to the Future II, we've bided our time until the year 2015, when we, like Michael J. Fox's character Marty McFly, would be able to experience hoverboards, flying cars, food hydrator machines, and scarily accurate weather forecasts. But as time passed, we lost hope of ever knowing what it'd feel like to cook a pizza in seconds or know FOR SURE whether or not it would rain on any given day.

Nike must have heard our pleas, because they're releasing the NIKE MAG high-top shoes, a replica of the rad original pair worn by Michael J. Fox in the movie. If you don't know what we're talking about (as in, you were too lost in Michael's baby blues), get this: these sneakers did ALL the work, including forming to Marty's foot and tying his shoelaces. While Nike's 2011 edition doesn't do that (hey, it's four years ahead of its time), the futuristic-looking shoe features an electroluminescent NIKE in the strap and a glowing LED panel, which lights up for five hours per charge. 'Cause, you know, shoes that illuminate are WAY more awesome than your average high-top.

Only 1,500 people will get to look as fly as McFly. Starting TODAY at 8:30 p.m. PST, the shoes will be auctioned off via eBay's Fashion Vault, with all net proceeds going to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Now, where are our acid-washed jeans?

Lil Wayne Performance Outfits

Hip hop goddesses like Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Keri Hilson will always have a place in our hearts, but we've hankered after 2011 Video Music Awards performer and nominee Lil' Wayne's swag formula ever since Tha Carter II (we weren’t allowed to listen to any of his previous albums—THANKS, MOM!). Yes, we realize that the rapper is better known for his lyrical flow and his signature throaty voice, and yes, we MAY have acquired a reputation at a certain karaoke bar after busting out "6 Foot 7 Foot" one murky Friday night. But all of that music stuff is just a bonus when we’re faced with Lil' Wayne's fresh onstage (what will he wear at the VMAs?!) and offstage style. There's just one problem.

Anne Hathaway on the cover of "Interview."
Photo: "Interview" Magazine

She may have left her Princess Diaries days far (OK, VERY far) behind, but we've never quite shaken off Anne Hathaway's wholesome-girl-in-Hollywood image. So when we spotted her on the September cover of Interview, it took a few moments to properly identify the brooding beauty gazing at us from underneath a mysterious veil. And WHOA! We're used to seeing the sunny One Day actress smiling, but swathed in all things sheer and lacy for a black and white photo shoot, Anne smolders in the magazine's fall fashion issue. Forget Genovian princess (if you don't know what we're talking about, you need to Netflix some of Anne's earlier work), she's practically Gothic royalty here.

Is it just us or is Demi Lovato at her most glowingest, beautiful self, like, all the time now? Girl has never looked better. Wait, scratch that. The “Skyscraper” songstress turns 19 this weekend, so we can officially call her a woman. Since her hiatus, Dems has churned out head-to-toe looks so gorge we can hardly keep up.

First, there was a little black dress that practically slithered over her curves, emphasizing her waist and perfectly tan gams. But then she had to go and pair it with a cascade of luscious brown waves (seriously, what shampoo does she use?!), smoky eyes, and a bright pink manicure that elevated the LBD to a whole new level of hotness. The next day, Demi showed up in an outfit so packed with boho-chic gloriousness we had to take a second (and third...and fourth) look to drink in every detail, from her asymmetrical crochet dress and feather extensions to her cross necklace and stacks of bracelets. And can we PLZ take a time-out to appreciate her luminous bronzed skin, the enviable golden sheen highlighting her cheekbones? Sigh. Finally, at the Teen Choice Awards, Demi revealed yet another facet of her style persona in lacy, pretty BCBG. Call us Lovatics, but we are FEELING this: the “look at me now” yellow suede pumps, elegant makeup.

Just a hunch, but we have a feeling that the sartorial spotlight will SHINE on Demi this year, and we'll be right here, keyboard in hand, to document every divine moment.

Joe Jonas at the premiere of "30 Minutes or Less" in Hollywood, California, on Aug. 8, 2011.

That perfectly scruffy face. Those bomb Simon Spurr suits. The deep V-neck tees exposing just the right amount of smooth, bronzed chest. It’s no secret that Joe Jonas, who turns 22 today, is a style god (and one of our personal faves), but it’s taken the guy a few years to figure out his game plan. As a young'un rising to fame in 2006, the smooth-shaven cutie was prone to heavy accessorizing, rhinestone-encrusted Ed Hardy tees, and other funky outfits. But over the years (during which he released several albums with The Jonas Brothers, starred in numerous shows, AND found time to date at least four of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelorettes), Joe’s cultivated a more refined aesthetic, exchanging offbeat patterns for streamlined solids, goofball grins for smoldering stares. He’s busting out of the pack, establishing not only a solo career (first album FastLife is on the way), but also an individual style that’s practically galloping light years ahead of every other male in Hollywood. Erm, case in point? So far, he’s the only guy we’ve met who has worn a denim jacket under a suit and made it look like he's bringing sexy back.

There’s no doubt about it: The middle Jonas is currently undergoing a major style renaissance. So in honor of his birthday, we’ve charted some of his most memorable looks, from his early boy-band days (magenta tees, supertight jeans!) to his hipster chic era (non-prescription glasses, plaid!) to the present (black on black on black that manages NOT to look boring).

If there’s one style rule we abide by, it’s to avoid wearing leather in humidity for all sorts of comfort/weird sweat-related issues. But judging from some of our favorite ladies who were a part of the Lollapalooza lineup this year, leather only meant one thing: rock and roll. Despite the scorching summer heat in Chicago, Illinois, over the weekend, these singers proved they might not be fans of practical dressing, but they’re definitely fans of looking FIERCE no matter what. Here are some of our top picks from the music festival’s most fab performers.

It’s not enough that Tom Felton is tall, witty, and comes with a cute British accent (which makes every word out of his mouth seem both clever and charming). No, the star of Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (in theaters today!) also happens to be a style savant with a penchant for deliciously skinny ties and polished blazers. When we can drag our eyes away from those piercing baby blues and lips that seem perpetually pressed into an adorable smirk (Emma Watson, aka GODDESS, had a crush on him, people), we’re focusing on his killer sartorial choices. After careful study, we’ve concluded that 23-year-old Tom is indeed Slyther-ing to the top of our style charts (hahaahaha... [SUCK IT, we’re going through Draco withdrawal]).

Like any pro, Tom sticks to a few signature trends and breezily repeats them (with elegant results) on the red carpet. We break them down for you here.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
