Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade wear post-game glasses.

The wide and wonderful world of sports is one into which we seldom venture in these here digital pages of MTV Style (save, perhaps, our 24-hour David Beckham watch). Between Lady Gaga's black liquid perfume announcement and finding out where to score Katy Perry's movie poster outfit, we're rarely left with much time to cover the ins and outs of athletic fashion. HOWEVER, we write to you eyeballs deep in the exciting Oklahoma City Thunder v. Miami Heat 2012 NBA Finals, and the faux glasses fashion battle that is concurrently happening up and down these post-game interviews is more than enough to change our tune.
On the off-chance that you haven't been keeping up with the NBA Playoffs, let us fill you in. Last night, we just completed Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and the Heat are now leading the Thunder 2-1, which sounds as much like a meteorological report as it does a sports recap. On top of boasting the winningest records in the league, these two teams are also home to some of the NBA's most sartorially savvy players - Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade. The four powerhouses have caught a lot of flack this season for wearing bold, lensless glasses during their post-game interviews, embodying a look that's been likened to Steve Urkel and Carlton Banks, and Westbrook was recently quoted claiming that he originated the "nerd glasses" trend, a statement both James and Wade vocally refute. In light of all the bespectacled buzz, we decided to take a closer look!
Kirsten Dunst on May 23, Katy Perry on June 13, and Ashlee Simpson on June 7.

Ladies, it looks like springy floral headbands are officially a thing, and to be honest, we couldn't have planned a more on-season trend if we tried! Kirsten Dunst, Katy Perry, and Ashlee Simpson have all sported dainty flower hair accessories as of late, which is a totally fresh take on the floral crown look (à la Lana Del Rey). And YES, the two are different! Crowns made of flowers are perfect for music festivals and fancy photo shoots, but we like how these ladies sported a more wearable version of the trend. Kirsten Dunst wove a gold and pearl flower headpiece into her braided updo, which matches perfectly with her white floral appliqué frock. Love! Katy stepped out in a '90s-inspired red dandelion print dress and studded motorcycle jacket ensemble, but added a touch of softness with her white rose headband. Ashlee Simpson looked all-out springy in her sheer white dress and twiggy headband, but we can't help but think—where can we snatch up one of these cute hair pieces for ourselves?
Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus and a similar Neil Lane engagement ring style.

If there's one thing we love to talk about here at MTV Style, it's ENGAGEMENT RINGS. *eye twinkle* Ever since we broke the news that Miley Cyrus got engaged to Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, we've been waiting SO patiently to hear more deets about the ring, and EEP. IT'S FINALLY HEREEEE! People magazine broke the exclusive news, and, man, they got every last detail on this bad boy! It turns out Liam chose jeweler Neil Lane to help him create "something unusual" yet "something really beautiful and romantic" for his special lady. (OMG, are you crying yet?) The end result was a GORGE 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, which is handcrafted in 18-karat gold. The band has carved floral motifs and the stone is from the 19th century! Whoooaaa.
Justin Bieber leaving BBC Radio on June 6 in London.

We have to give it up for Justin Bieber, y'all. First off, dude has more than 22 MILLION Twitter followers (wut) so we can only imagine what his life is like when he graces the public with his pretty presence. Basically, it's insane. By now, he's probably tired of the whole hand-in-the-camera-hiding-from-paparazzi thing, so he's resorted to cooler, more fashionable options to conceal that Cutie McCuterson face away from any teenage girl's wandering eye. Ladies and gentlemen, let us introduce to you Justin's embellished skull mask. This 3D neoprene face cover has a screenprinted skull on the front complete with a little nose hole. (Aww.) This mask ACTUALLY only costs $14 and can be purchased at sketchy online shops (like this one), but in pure Biebs style, he upped the ante by embellishing the crapola out of it. AMAZING. According to the product description, this mask ALSO glows in the dark. Killer! (Heh.)
Coco Rocha with designers Bruce and Glen.

It's hard enough to spot celebrities from afar- but getting close enough to TOUCH them? That's pretty much impossible, unless you're New York designers Bruce and Glen. These twin brothers are determined to get their collection of high fashion slap bracelets noticed, so they've been going around town literally slapping Beyonce, Coco Rocha, and Trey Songz with their awesomely out-there creations. But don't worry, they didn't get slapped back. In fact, the bold marketing strategy is totally working. The designers' eponymous collection of studded, mirrored, leopard and neon accessories is officially bringing back '90s slap bracelets, once and for all.
It seems that glossy, long hair is becoming a kind of trend, and we're not talking about the hair on your head. Perhaps this is something for which we can thank Lady Gaga and her many tendriled ensembles. Or maybe this is all attributable to the long-haired looks of the Fashion Week runways. Regardless of who is responsible (or rather, to blame, depending on your feelings about the furry craze), this is undeniably a full-fledged trend and one we can no longer sit idly by. This thing is officially spreading like wildfire: first, hairy garments, then, hairy accessories, and now, styling products are sprouting locks of their own? This, friends, is where we draw the line.
Fingernail rings in action.
Photo: Via Gwaan
Seriously, our jewelry box is getting out of control here, you guys. It reached overflow status about a year ago, and now that we've added yet another obsession to add to our stash, we're going to have to call in for backup. Check out these brilliant fingernail rings, courtesy of online shop Gwaan. The basic version gets the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids treatment with these miniatures that won't slip past your first knuckle (an even smaller version of the midi rings, if you can believe it...). Lady Gaga's done it, Rihanna's worn them, so isn't it about time we hop on board? (not that we really needed a reason to try...)
2 Chainz and Dope Couture brass knuckles.
Photo: MTV/Courtesy of Dope Couture
Just yesterday, rapper 2 Chainz was arrested in New York's LaGuardia Airport for carrying a pair of "brass knuckles" in his bag, according to MTV News. After the "metal knuckles" inside his carry-on set off an alarm, police took 2 Chainz into custody for misdemeanor possession of a weapon in the 4th degree. When news spread about the rapper's arrest, friends Big Sean and DJ Drama took to Twitter to clarify what they think what was really in 2 Chainz's carry-on.
According to some, the brass knuckles in question were ACTUALLY just a four-finger ring. Big Sean tweeted, "2 chainz ain't have no brass knuckles, it was a 4 finger ring that spelled hood. We had a shoot yesturday n he was rockin em." DJ Sean even Instagramed a picture of 2 Chainz wearing the four-finger ring, which shows the word "DOPE" etched along the front.

We're sure Snooki has her hands fullgiven the impending premiere of her Jersey Shore spin-off with bosom buddy JWOWW and that little bun in her oven, but she's apparently not too busy to maintain her retail empire. Making good on her tease late last month, The Princess of Poughkeepsie has finally released new summer styles for her Snooki by Nicole Polizzi sunnies.
Urbanears denim headphones.

Considering people have been doing the denim-on-denim thing for a few seasons now, isn't it about time someone took this '90s-inspired trend up a notch?! Luckily, Urbanears is here to help...and no, we're not talking about Britney and Justin's matching ensembles circa early 2000s (although you've got to admit-it was a pretty epic fashion statement). The Stockholm-based audio company has just debuted a raw denim edition of its classic Plattan Plus easy listening staple. Just like the original, the new version comes complete with ear cushions, a mini remote control, and collapsible design (which mean it won't take up any room in your purse, score!). Plus, in a stroke of total genius, it's installed with a special "zound" plug on the earcap so you can listen with a friend.
