Sure, the Oscars at the beginning of the month brought an end to traditional awards season, but Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards usher in the 2014 spring/summer season—one marked by shorts and miniskirts, bright colors, and beachy waves. The temperatures might still be lurking in the high 40s on the northern east coast, but the PYTs on the KCAs orange carpet are helping us get inspired for warmer weather.

Nick girl Ariana Grande paid homage to the network with a little orange shift dress. Rather than exactly matching the carpet (and the awards blimps!), the latter half of "Sam & Cat" opted for a lighter tangerine. Her dress wasn't the only part of her outfit repping for Nickelodeon: Her quilted Chanel purse, which she tweeted a closer picture of, was customized with iconic Nick cartoon characters from Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Catdog, and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.
Not a single day goes by that Rihanna doesn't make waves in the fashion world. She has always been our unofficial Queen of Style, but now, she is finally going to be *officially* recognized for her valiant efforts. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced today that their 2014 Fashion Icon is none other than RiRi herself, and our main reaction to the news is: IT'S ABOUT TIME. The annual award honors fashion trailblazers (past winners include Lady Gaga and Johnny Depp), and after Rihanna's ultra glamorous 2013-14, we can't imagine any worthier recipient. Take a look back at all the memorable reasons why CFDA totally made the right decision.
SHE BECAME THE FACE OF BALMAIN

Back in December, Rihanna announced on Instagram (her news outlet of choice) that she was the newest face of Balmain. She also kindly provided a slew of pics from the campaign, teaching us how to look chic wearing power suits in a steam room—we had always wondered, so thanks, Rih!
SHE LANDED HER THIRD 'VOGUE' COVER
Rihanna on the cover of 'Vogue.'
Rihanna looked naturally bold on the March 2014 cover of Vogue, and the accompanying inside spread was just as gorgeous. Her wardrobe varied from oversized jackets to couture Versace, which only affirmed her ability to wear ANY trend. She also was kind enough to dole out some of her super-secret fashion tips, which was thoughtful of her.
Clockwise from top left: Iggy Azalea, the 1975, Jack Antonoff, and Wild Cub at the 2014 Woodies.
The 2014 Woodie Awards are mere HOURS away. Who will win the Cover Woodie? What will Iggy Azalea's modified yellow Cher Horowitz suit look like in motion? We'll have answers to these and more important questions soon. We might not want to wait, but the fact is: We have no choice. So to bide time until the big show at 8 p.m. EST tonight, peep our backstage interviews with this year's Woodies performers. You'll hear Iggy talk about never wearing pants onstage and what she does when clothes mysteriously appear in her suitcases, the 1975 reveal the brands and stores that contribute to their "black and expensive" wardrobe, and which Woodies performer describes his personal style as "a nine-year-old who was allowed to dress themself [sic] for the first time." Enjoy!
Your 2014 MTV Movie Awards Host.

In case you missed the big, tall, red-headed news: Conan O'Brien is hosting the 2014 MTV Movie Awards! Yep, on April 13, Conan will be taking the stage, telling some jokes, and helping dole out awards for Movie of the Year, Best Cameo, Best Kiss, and more.
In honor of Conan and his floppy ginger coif, we searched high and low (on the internet) for redheads. Below you'll find an abridged guide to redheads in no particular order. Just a big ol' mob of enviable red tresses. Once you've finished scrolling you may have an urge to dye your 'do to match. Embrace the feeling—your new look will be totally perfect for your Movie Awards viewing party.

If you're anything like us, you love some good behind-the-scenes 411. Like, when I'm looking at Selena Gomez's hair at Oscar parties, I want to know how long that sleek 'do took. Three days or three hours? You could tell me either, and I wouldn't be surprised. Luckily for us, Katie Stevens, the star of MTV's new show Faking It (premiering April 22!) snapped some pictures of her process as she got ready for one such party. We are so in the know now. Join us as we cherish this inside info below!
Getting ready for the Oscar parties with Katie Stevens.

Katie had the help of hair stylist Jesse Montana to get her 'do ready for the partay. Katie obviously knew selfies were going to be, like, the biggest meme of the night even before the show began. She got a head start on Ellen, Jennifer, Bradley, Jared, Lupita's brother, and everyone else in that photo.
Sure, the Oscars are glamorous and esteemed and a major cultural moment, but I think I'd rather attend an Oscars after-party than the ceremony itself. The casual atmosphere of the post-show bashes is way less "I'd like to thank the Academy" and way more (to quote Matthew McConaughey), "Alright, alright, alriiiiight." We saw some pretty amazing looks on the red carpet last night for sure, but the parties brought out some new fashions that totally reflected the more fun phase of the evening. Check out some of our faves:
LUPITA NYONG'O IN MIU MIU

After winning big last night, Lupita swapped out her princess Prada gown for this flirty Miu Miu dress. The sea foam fringe and buckled straps reminded us of a day spent at the beach—the perfect image for a first-time Oscar winner. Lupita held onto the same jewelry she wore at the ceremony and clutched her new statuette for the entire night (totally what I would do, too).
Sunday night (March 2), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences doled out awards for excellence in all aspects of film over the past year, sending Jared Leto, Matthew McConaughey, Cate Blanchett, our girl crush Lupita Nyong'o, and many more home toting gilded Oscar statuettes. But L.A.'s Dolby Theatre stage wasn't the only place where people were winning at the 2014 Academy Awards: Hollywood's biggest and brightest stars cleaned up on the red carpet, too. MTV News' Christina Garibaldi, our #shehashadit bestie Jarvis Derrell, and I had a summit of the minds and picked out our favorites.
Taylor Swift at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Lorde performing at the 2014 Brit Awards.

You know how when you hang out with someone a lot, you pick up their mannerisms and sayings? It happens to celebrities too! It looks like all the shopping trips/fun girl hang time between Taylor Swift and Lorde have resulted in the exchange of style secrets. Last night, Taylor attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a Julien Macdonald long-sleeved, sequined gown that was reminiscent of the Tom Ford gown her new BFF Lorde wore to perform at the Brits a few weeks ago. While Lorde went for a "red carpet goth" look, Taylor and her new bob went for vampy old Hollywood glamour.
Man oh MAN. Is it just us, or were last night's Academy Awards the best they've been in a long time? We're talking Ellen's ace hosting skills, an amazingly talented batch of winners, and don't even get us started on the red carpet glitz and glamour. The gowns and tuxes were wonderful in all their designer glory, but we couldn't help noticing the A+ accessories and details. Check out some of our favorite style finishing touches of the evening:
Emma Watson at the 2014 Academy Awards.

Emma Watson was a sparkly masterpiece from head to toe last night. Her metallic Vera Wang dress was mostly responsible for her glittery presence, but her jewelry certainly helped out a LOT. Her diamond ear cuff was the perfect choice for her whole goth-at-the-Oscars vibe, as was the sizable aggregation of rings adoring her fingers. Emma totally could have stepped off the red carpet and into a street fight without having to change her outfit at all, which is pretty much the best kind of transitional fashion.
Zooey Deschanel at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Katy Perry at the 2013 American Music Awards.

Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry can’t resist a good throwback. The adorkable queen of retro and the pinup pop star have always had an amazing ability to pull off vintage styles without looking like they just raided the back of their grandma’s closet. For this reason alone, it’s pretty spectacular that it’s taken this long for the pair’s wardrobe to overlap. But it finally happened. Zooey just stepped out in strapless, floral, polka-dotted Oscar de la Renta dress at the annual Vanity Fair Oscar Party—very similar to the one Katy wore to the AMAs back in November.
Zooey’s look was lighter than Katy's—the ruffled tiers gave the dress an airy feel and the softer pastel tulips read as springy, compared to Perry’s gothic rose garden. Fittingly, Zooey went with a low-key beauty look—tousled waves, heavy-handed mascara, and neutral lipstick—and a clean, simple purse.
