It's no secret that Selena Gomez has ah-mazing hair. It's long, it's shiny, it can be wavy or straight, it looks sleek both up and down, and we are jealz. Selly, as we know, just kicked off her months-long Stars Dance Tour in Canada and is trying out a new 'do. No, it's not the Rihanna mullet-rattail hyrbid, nor the Beyonce a-line bob: instead of making a drastic chop, Selena has incorporated cornrows into her look. Taking a page out of the ol'James Franco in Spring Breakers book, eh, Selz?
SpringSumma Break forevaaa. She debuted the new style last week and is obv a huge fan: she's sported them at performances, meet-and-greets, and most recently, during a quick trip to New York.
We've been keeping close tabs on Katy Perry's third fragrance, Killer Queen, ever since we first heard about it in May. We saw the print ad, watched the teasers, but we still didn't get the full picture. Why did a white, curly wig hit the floor? What's Katy gonna do with that dagger she stole?! It was filled with dramz, but now, thankfully, we have the full 60-second teaser (and some behind-the-scenes pictures, NBD) to show how it alllll goes down.
Rihanna brings her mullet on a private jet.

As we know by now, Rihanna is QUEEN of changing her hair. There was the long blonde look, the long ice gray 'do, and most recently the curly crop, but this newest look is really different. It's short in the front, long in the back, and straight. Yep. It's a mullet.
This weekend, Rih, as per usual, has been keepin' us apprised of her whereabouts and looks on Instagram, but rather than making a big to-do about her new hair, she just subtly debuted it while wearing Rihanna for River Island on her jet. While Rih usually gives us the full 411 on her shoes, clothing, and new hair shades, she, somehow, omitted that she cut and straightened her hair into a mullet. The first shot of her new hair only shows off the front, which is actually pretty reminiscent of her 2008 "Umbrella"-era 'do—longer, piecey bangs with a shorter, pixie cut in the back. But then (why!!!!!!), we got a peek at the back, and, SURPRISE, there's long, piecey hair still on her head.
We tried Lady Gaga's "Applause" makeup.

It was only a matter of time until we did this, right? Lady Gaga's "Applause" single art—which spotlights just her face in colorful, smeared face paint—was released in late July, but it's taken us until NOW to try it on ourselves.
Part of that is because she hadn't started wearing it IRL until earlier this week to promote her new single (which she's performing at the 2013 VMAs, BTW). The other part is that this beauty look is very heavy on the "ART" aspect of ARTPOP. It's rare that we stray from the daily makeup mainstays of black liner, a little mascara, and some kind of lip situation (I know, bare bones), so we knew we had to enlist in the help of professionals (a.k.a. the nice folks at the Sephora across the street from our offices) for this one.
artist magician Ashlee Sadler hooked us up, and (along with a Vine and a ton of mental snapshots of hilarious reactions) we took down meticulous notes on what she did. Just in case you want to recreate the look yourself.
Beyonce debuts her new, longer hair.
So long, pixie cut! Last week the web went cray when Beyonce debuted her new 'do on Instagram. Just when we were getting used to a world with a short-haired Beyonce, she changed it up on us again. Yesterday in Miami, Bey stepped out with an asymmetrical bob. It's verrrry short in the back, though not pixie-short (pixie, we hardly knew ye) and chin-length in the front. Though the words "mullet" and "Beyonce" have probably never before been used in the same sentence, it's kinda a reverse mullet? A stylish mullet, obviously, but it is totally a party in the front and business in the back. Or "Single Ladies" Beyonce in the front and "If I Were a Boy" Beyonce in the back, if you will.
As you probably have written on your calendar, One Direction's first fragrance, "Our Moment," hits shelves in 11 days, on August 25th. As you also probably know, the VMAs are that day. Is August 25th gearing up to be the greatest day in history? Yes. Yes, it is.
We already have some of the deets on 1D's first foray into fragrance: it's a "vibrant and playful fruity floral," comprised of pink grapefruit, wild berries, redcurrants, jasmine, freesia, musk, and a touch of patchouli. A familiar recipe: combining several things (scents/band members) for perfection. I can dig it. The packaging is ultra-feminine, with a pale pink bottle that's topped off with a bedazzled crown and some tulle. The packaging will appeal to both teen girls and the Queen of England, an intersecting demographic that is normally very hard to achieve. Congrats, boys, killin' it as always!

In case you haven't heard, Lady Gaga really could care less what the critics think. She's 100% devoted to her Little Monsters, which leaves absolutely no room for anyone else's approval. That's the hard-hitting message on her newest single "Applause," which was officially released yesterday. The upbeat tune gave us a tantalizing preview of what ARTPOP will have in store, and we are now more excited than ever. But did you really think Mother Monster would leave her fans with nothing more than an incredible new track? Puh-lease! In her latest promotional display, Lady Gaga hit the town yesterday with her face painted EXACTLY like the cover artwork for "Applause."
Attention all Barbz: Nicki Minaj's first ad for her new fragrance, Minajesty, is hurr. The rapper continued her streak of keeping her Barbz and Kenz in the loop and shared the ad on her Instagram. We got a sneak peek of the campaign a few weeks ago when Minaj posted behind-the-scenes images to Instagram, but now, we can ogle the finished ad. In it, Minaj stands in that pink taffeta dress we saw from the preview, in front of a throne, in the woods, arms outstretched. Her hair is huuuge, like, several Bumpits high, and blonde, with pink accents—the inch of brown roots she's been rockin' recently, though, is MIA.
Katy Perry really wants you to be tantalized by her new Killer Queen fragrance. Last Friday she gave us a nine second teaser for the fragrance and today she let us see ten seconds more of the trailer, and for that, she will from now on be known as Generous Queen Katy. What we know about the fragrance remains the same: it'll be floral-y, but also ambiguous, sophisticated, and sexy (my natural odor also combines all of these things, BTW); it'll be released in August (soon!); and it reflects her new, edgy persona.
While the video doesn't have Katy coming out to spray us with the perfume and actually smell it (why isn't the technology there yet?? UGH.), we can def see elements of the new Katy that she's been teasing with her Roar videos. Katy has teased both her fragrance and upcoming single in the past week, giving us nothing more than 30 seconds of ~mystery~. The second teaser follows the first's lead with Katy still lookin' very Marie Antoinette, walking toward the camera in a messy room. She then reaches for the Killer Queen bottle, which is placed on a pillow (pretttty fancy bottle, huh?), brandishes a sword, flutters her eyelashes, and dramatically lets her wig drop. Whole lotta drama crammed into ten seconds. But what does it all mean? The next video comes out on Wednesday. Mark your calendars! We already did. Really. To see it all unfold, watch the video below!

Breaking news: Beyonce has very, very short hair! At least she does for the moment according to her Instagram feed. Having just seen the Queen Bey in concert at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Monday night (yes, the very one where her husband also graced the stage), this transformation from cascading, wind-machine-blown blonde curls to a super-cute-pixie cut is a startling one. What's unsurprising of course is how beautiful she looks. While I realize that this coiffure (that harkens a sort of Hathaway-growing-out-a-Fantine 'do), doesn't mean she's hung up what I can only imagine to be a enviably extensive (and expensive) wig collection but *sigh* just look how this accentuates her brows. And her ever-expressive eyes are even more vibrant.
