Rumors are FLYING that everyone's favorite family of Armenian-American television personalities (like there's a second one of those) is thinking about expanding their fleet of DASH boutiques to the Upper East Side. The sisters just opened their third store last November in the stylish SoHo district to mass hysteria, and it hasn't died down since. There is almost ALWAYS a throng of teens clamoring to get in and maybe snap a pic or two with a Kardashian. Unfortunately, the girls don't frequent the place as much as fans would hope, and the constant frenzy doesn't necessarily make for a casual retail experience. That's proooobably why that and the sky-high prices are the biggest complaint of shoppers (according to the comments on Yelp anyhow [LOLOLOLOL at people who comment on Yelp]). The boutiques feature clothing and accessories from brands like Whitney Eve, La Rok, 6126 by Lindsay Lohan, and Naven. Personally, we welcome the prospect of a DASH on the Upper East with open arms for two main reasons: (a) can you say "Kardashian Gossip Girl cameos"?!, and (b) UES is WAY closer to our offices.

Chloë Sevigny For Opening Ceremony Resort Collection 2011.
Photo: Adam Schneider

Once upon a time, I saw the Chloë Sevigny For Opening Ceremony Mary Ellen Platform Clog Booties in Natural (say that three times fast, if you will), my heart cracked open and my love for insanely treacherous shoes that put my small frame on stilts gushed out, all over the internet. Like Wayne's World, I uttered, "They will be mine. Oh yes." And with some minor lifestyle adjustments (HA HA! NO LUNCH!) I obtained my very own pair, and I am happy to say we are in love.

So when Chloë Sevigny invited me (YES ME!) to her very first Resort collection fashion show via anonymous form e-mail, I had to attend. Sevigny not only has the indie actress game on lock, but she's also the de facto paean of downtown style. She brought back the '90s before they even left. She rocked vintage when the rest of the red carpet was stumbling over the Italians. But with a forth season under her belt with OC (whose other collabs have included Rodarte and Pendleton), there is no more argument—she is now a real-deal designer. So we took a peek at her newest line and chatted with her about the cult of Chloë, and guess what? WE HAVE THE WORST NEWS: The shoes are bonkers. BONKERS. Just when I thought my heart was filled and I wouldn't want any more material goods, a pair of laser-cut leather wedges with a hidden heel traipsed down the runway and I suddenly felt bereft.

The CFDA Awards, hosted by the Council of Fashion Designers in America (hence the name CFDA), is appropriately dubbed the Oscars of fashion. Of course, the Council only recognizes American designers, but that is totally great with us because it reminds us that Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenburg and Vera Wang all claim this landspace as their own. The ceremony, a rather small affair that is about as easy to get invited to as the Royal Wedding, is the time when American designers get to walk with their current "muses." Past award winners featured Iman (as an icon), Michelle Obama (as a special tribute) and Rodarte (best womenswear).

The real Oscars are for beauty and classic-ness, but the CFDA's prove that a celeb has the fashion chutzpah to own the red carpet. And, of course, there was Lady Gaga, who is now an official CFDA Fashion Icon.

Love her, hate her, or shut off each time she is mentioned (which in all fairness, is quite a lot), her CFDA nod firmly cemented her status as a real game-changer, not just a punk kid in wacky boots. We love that she brought her vamped out sister Natali as her red carpet date. The piercing eyes and Italian fierceness is clearly genetic—though definitely NOT genetic was Gaga's blunt cut aqua bob, which appeared front and center. However, we aren't massive fans of her unwieldy and dragging train, which was reportedly such a hassle she couldn't make it into the press room for interviews. Yet, in true Gaga-watching form, we wrestle with conflicting emotions on her acceptance getup: She ditched the train and then turned around to moon the industry—Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington included. Maybe not the most classic and respectful of moves, but hey, even as a game-changer, she still is a punk kid in wacky boots. But she wasn't the only one who kept the paps a-snappin'.

Lily Allen at the launch of 'Esquire''s June issue in London on May 5, 2011, at the Chanel Ready to Wear Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 show in Paris on March 8, 2011, and at the Chanel Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2011 show in Paris on Oct. 5, 2010.

Attention vintage-junkie indie pop fans: Lily Allen has FINALLY launched her newest fashion line, Lucy in Disguise. The queen of quirky-cool, Lily has a style that has long been admired and imitated. It may be single-handedly fueling ModCloth's revenue stream, so it's no wonder she was tapped back in 2007 to do a collaboration with U.K. shop New Look. Since then, the masses have been licking their chops for more. Named after the vintage boutique she and her sister Sarah Owen opened last year (Opening boutiques with your sister is toothachingly sweet), the Lucy in Disguise pre-fall line (which she and sis also put together) features 18 eclectic dresses and jumpsuits inspired by the far-reaching corners of the globe and the last hundred years of fashion, so there's BOUND to be something for everyone. See the collection after the jump!

Coco modeling the Licious Denim Outfit.
Photo: Courtesy of Licious

Over the weekend, the New York fashion community learned something new—that Ice-T's improbably proportioned wife Coco has a clothing line. And while there's plenty of low-hanging fruit to plunder in discussions of fledgling fashion brands launched by former Playboy models, since I have an enormous amount of respect of Fin Tutuola in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, I will strive for diplomacy and a delicate touch.

We'll see how that goes.

The thing about the blonde bombshell's foray into apparel is that she's actually had a denim line since 2009. The unorthodox spandex to cotton ratio of her jeans not only flattered her absolutely INSANE physique in this Twitpic dated December 12, but was actually a respectably early form of the jegging (a trend that outright refuses to die despite my attempts to kill it with fire). In that aspect, she was definitely on to something and could have made a grip of loot with the right positioning.

But then there's another aspect that's truly hilarious and emblematic of the cloistered life that the trophy wife of Ice-T would lead.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on the cover of 'Newsweek.'
Photo: Courtesy of Newsweek

OK, I just wrote, edited and then erased about 143 words on my thoughts on the restructuring of Newsweek, the redesign, and my thoughts on Tina Brown. Then I remembered that 100 percent of you don't care, and 111.34 percent of you think I meander too much (ha, what has two thumbs and did it again? THIS GUY), so let's just go ahead and look at this image. We've got Newsweek. A white seamless background. Some pretty hard-core lighting. And Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen looking... well... newsy? Maybe it's that they're not wearing sunglasses. Maybe it's that they're actually making eye contact. Maybe it's that they don't actually appear to be mouthing the word "prune." I'm not entirely sure, but there's SOMETHING that makes the overall effect crazily jarring to where I wanted to pull it out from our usual Cover Girl Roundup to talk about it in detail.

While not unattractive, this magazine looks like a Newsweek in a movie. Or like they used preexisting pickup art of the twins. Preexisting pickup art of the twins that was maybe taken as a joint mug shot? GUH. I know the description sounds wildly uncharitable, but at no point am I saying that I don't like it. I like it. Maybe a lot. But the lack of fashion editorializing makes me feel uncomfortable. I knew that the Olsens were incredibly prolific, canny and legitimately dialed into how to make us want their stuff. The thing that I perhaps wasn't taking seriously enough was how sort of scary they are once you pluck them out of tabloids and fashgossblogs and think about them as an enterprise.

Is it the presence of the Newsweek logo? Is it that I'm a self-hating textilephile? Is it the news that Michelle Obama wears The Row? This is DEFINITELY a late pass, and I'm almost mortified to admit it but maybe, until this cover of these two not just looking "cool" or "stylish" but looking like they'd take names and buy and sell EVERYBODY, I could still dismiss them a bit as straight-to-DVD actresses. Whatever. All I know is that I'mma read the CRAP outta this Robin Givhan story because she's a genius and if anyone's going to extract the real scoop on these two, it's her. Dudes, she won a PULITZER for writing about fashion. Read up. Oh, and I want this shrunken leather jacket for my spring throw-on.

Fergie at Macy's in New York on April 21.
Clockwise from top left: Reality in Sapphire, Barter in Black, Tremble in Green, Quilla in Clementine, and Bold in Black.
Photo: Getty Images/Courtesy of Fergie Footwear

Given Jessica Simpson and Carlos Santana's incredible successes in the shoe department, it comes as no surprise that she of the consistently bronzed, obscenely shapely legs—Fergie—would be hot to trot into the game. And, what's even more notable is that like Simpson and Santana, her reasonably priced offerings are not only totally accessible but cute. The spring/summer line is available at Macy's or online (with most at just under $100) and there's wedges, platforms and sandals galore. Check out what the shoes look like on display in real life (you can see the colors with some accuracy here) and for the whole collection, you can check her site but peep our top 5 (working from the top left).

We love this blue suede wedge sandal called "Reality" since the T-strap upper is large enough to not only be comfy but support the heel. You can pair this with high-waisted, denim flares for a retro feel, or it'd look just as cute with a vibrant midi skirt.

With the suggestively named "Barter," we're working with a mesh that's supported with a double-looped strap. Note that the straps are padded and that the 2-inch platform on the front makes the teetering stiletto easier on your arch.

This stacked-heel, lace-up, open-toed clog is a no-brainer. You can wear the green "Tremble" with anything. Just as long as your pedi's right and the burnished studs don't clash with your accessories.

The "Quilla" in orange is the perfect summer shoe. The wedge means that you can navigate all sorts of BBQ terrain and the color pops against all types of breezy backdrops. Again, we're working with a platform so you can run around town (or seaside resort) in the utmost comfort.

OK, this middle shoe called the "Bold" (I'll say) is kinda an intense shoe. And by "intense" we mean we love it and are perfectly willing to wear these even with the most innocent of eyelet smocks. It's all about the interplay and juxtapositioning, people.

Lauren Conrad launched a beauty site!
Photo: Courtesy of TheBeautyDepartment.com

With her always expertly applied cateye, perfect crimson pout, and smooth vintage-y waves, we never doubted that Lauren Conrad had at least a teensy bit of beauty girl floating around inside of that fashion plate of a body. Who are we kidding? L.C. probably lives and breathes liquid liner and big barrel curling irons. And, now there's proof. Along with her makeup artist Amy Nadine and her hairstylist Kristen Ess, The Hills-alum just launched an online hair and makeup website called The Beauty Department. The site will brim with beauty advice straight from the mouth of babes (Conrad, Nadine, and Ess), video tutorials, and printable photo step-by-step how-tos (like the one shown above). We know what you're wondering--there's already a million bajillion beauty websites in cyberspace...what is Lauren thinking to add another, which may or may not get buried in the middle of the pile? Of COURSE, the biz-savy celeb has a master plan, guyyyyyysss. As reported over at InStyle, on top of her myriad of fashion designing duties L.C. says that she'd ultimately like to launch her own line of cosmetics and hair products. We're envisioning all of these floral embossed pressed eyeshadows. Lots of pink in the form of blush, curling irons, nail polish, blow dryers, round brushes, and ponytail holders. Shampoo and conditioner specifically formulated for highlighted hair. A battery powered, vibrating liquid liner that forces the user to keep her hand steady while trying to make a straight line with permanent ink. And a collection of red lipsticks for everyday of the year. But, you can't just wake up one day and say, "I'm going to start a line of beauty products." Well, you can, but it probably won't be very lucrative. It sounds like Ms. Lauren is using The Beauty Department as an apprenticeship, per se, for total world beauty domination. Elizabeth Arden, who?

There's no doubt that Donatella Versace is a fashion legend. And far be it for us to detract from her enormous success in steering the house of Versace given her brother Gianni's untimely death in the summer of 1997, (Oh. God. Can we actually take a moment because every time I think of Gianni Versace and Andrew Cunanan, I feel insane. Do you remember this INTENSE Time magazine cover? If you haven't already, you should read the entire article here. It is amazing. And how much do we love that there's no paywall?) but we're a little *crooked eyebrows* on some of these notions that she raises in her recent interview with Reuters. The "nut" is that while she's BFFs with musicians like Elton John and Sting and how celebs like Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and her Madgesty dons her frocks, she's totally unconvinced that a celebrity is capable of making truly creative fashion. She implies that the type of crazy-pants life that a celebrity leads makes it unlikely that they'd find true inspiration, but ultimately it's this quote that ruffles feathers.

Donatella Versace at Milan Fashion Week in Milan, Italy on Feb. 25.
Photo: Getty Images

"I think it is more a question of marketing. Some of these collections are for cheaper, mass market fashion. I don't think that creativity is there."

Hold. The. Phone. Since when was mass market fashion and creativity completely mutually exclusive? Also, what about when a very tony designer DEIGNS to make a wide-release capsule collection? Is that designer's creativity suddenly sapped entirely from the fiscal parameters of unit cost? Also, what is this about famous people leading such anthropologically specific lives that they can't design clothes? Is there nothing insular and wonky about the lives of couturiers? People are entitled to their opinions and artists will often take a controversial or unpopular stance but D.V. relax on the bold name skewering, especially when they're killing it.

Love, Angel, Music, Baby... LAMB needs little introduction and Gwen Stefani's clothing line that launched in 2004 has always exemplified not only Gwen's FLAWLESS personal style (the shoes are reliably incredible) but is enormously fun, fresh and consistently welcomed at Fashion Week.

JESSICA SIMPSON COLLECTION BY JESSICA SIMPSON

By now we've all heard the projected $1 billion in sales that the Jessica Simpson Collection is slated to haul in this year and while Donatella will likely give the selection the side eye, there's something to be said for Jessica DOMINATING the retail scene so handily. And though the platform heels and flirty dresses as well as the sportswear line that will be added this year (with expectations to yield somewhere between $100-$200 million in retail sale), aren't rocket surgery aesthetically speaking, shopper fealty behind the JS empire lies in her attention to detail. The clothes are routinely described in reviews as flattering, and the shoes are vaunted for being comfortable, DESPITE sporting ginormous heels.

JT and his childhood buddy Trace launched William Rast in 2005. Named after their maternal grandfathers (how Proenza Schouler-ish), William Rast is predominantly known for their denim that enjoys the creative direction of none other than Johan Lindeberg of J.Lindeberg. And whether fashion designers like it or not, the young clothing line was enough to snag Justin Timberlake a spot on the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

ELIZABETH & JAMES BY MARY-KATE AND ASHLEY OLSEN

Routinely labeled as the superlative in stylish stars with constant rumors circulating that they've quit acting altogether to focus on fashion, the Olsen sisters' sartorial credibility is relatively unflappable. In both The Row and Elizabeth & James (and now stylemint.com), the partners are undeniably creative (as subjective as something like "style" may be), and these guys have been famous for the majority of their lives.

Looks from LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's.

People! We don't care if it's raining in the greater New York metro area. We don't care if it's predictably FUHREEZING in our air-conditioned office building. We're gonna call it: SPRING HAS SPRUNG! *thunder clap* :( Whatever the weather, we're finally going to declare it OK to vacuum pack our sweater collection and stash it under the bed. And this is why: The Hills alum/author (she's working on another three-book series)/fashion designer Lauren Conrad just released a second round of MORE floaty dresses, tops, and skirts for her LC Lauren Conrad line at Kohl's (all priced between $20 and $72). Remember when she launched the first part of the spring line in February? Well, this time we've got a slew of SHOE PORN. Check out all the ensembles and the added product shots ASAP and dream of sunshine. And then imagine wearing that rose-print dress above... while nibbling on a lobby roll...in the park...with birds chirping in the trees...and boys jogging past...with flexing calf muscles...that are lean but not, like, skinny...or too hirsute...ANYWAY, just do it. It aaaaalmost feels warm.
