HAI INTERNET! *waves* Whew, it feels like we've been apart forever (OK, it's been, like, a week), but I'm really excited to kick off 2013 with a blog post featuring one of my most favorite peeps of all time, Ms. Lana Del Rey. And, no, this is not just another celeb spotting of the singer sporting her signature retro waves and a short white frock, this is Lana gracing the cover of Rolling Stone Mexico wearing nothing but--wait for it--long johns. You read that right, people. Long. Johns. She wore a cropped, ribbed white sweater with silver trimmed long underwear, gold hoops, a watch, and, well, not much else. She kept her beauty game super soft and simple with center-parted locks, a killer cat eye and nude lips. She finished the entire look with an aerobic-inspired pose and a super wide smile. Get it, girl.
Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls cover Vogue.
Photo: Vogue UK/Vogue Australia
In 2012, House of Style co-hosts Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss became bonafide mainstays on the pages of the fashion’s heaviest-hitting publications. Karlie and Joan are individual powerhouses, but this year they really became a gruesome twosome. We'd like to think that House of Style solidified their BFFL status, but other iconic moments together included storming the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and landing individual covers for W Magazine's July issue. With a glowing (and growing) CV, it comes as no surprise that BOTH Karlie and Joan ranked among Vogue's top 10 featured models for 2012.
It's no secret that 2NE1 and Jeremy Scott are total besties (he designed their first world tour outfits, after all) so whenever the K-pop group and badass designer get together, we KNOW it's gonna be good. See: The latest issue of Hong Kong mag Ketchup. Umm, haiii! 2NE1's own CL graced the cover (alone!) decked out in Jer's latest duds, and we CANNOT get enough of all that gold. Jeremy tweeted that CL is sporting his gold flourish silk bomber jacket, scarf print dress and flourish Jeremy Scott x Linda Farrow shades. Also, PUH-LEASE notice the dangling pearl tear drops on those bad boys. *claps* Her beauty game is equally out of control—she wears a shiny, fire engine red lip, a platinum blonde high bun, and a killer talon ring. For her jewelry, she amped up the gold even MORE with a thick medallion chain and matching earrings.
Gwen Stefani covers the January issue of 'Vogue'.

Along with the fact that she's, you know, a rock star, Gwen Stefani also has her own L.A.M.B. label, an upcoming collab with Fred Perry, and a street style killer enough to make pretty much anyone swoon. So considering her fashion cred, it's suuuuper surprising that the No Doubt frontwoman hasn't landed the cover of VOGUE since '04. But get ready, because she's baaaack! Yep, the singer, mom, and fashion designer is the newest cover star, gracing the January issue of the glossy dressed in Saint Laurent. We're talking head-to-toe, fresh-off-the-runway, Hedi Slimane realness. WHOA.
Elle Fanning covers 'BULLETT's' Surreal issue.

Whether they're transforming an underground style icon like Alice Glass into a bride, morphing an ingenue like Elizabeth Olsen into elfin queens (with pink hair, no less) or just serving up our quarterly dose of eye candy, we can always count of the creative minds behind BULLETT to do so in ridiculously original ways. But they've truly outdone themselves in the magazine's new Surrealist issue, turning Elle Fanning into a work of art— literally. The 14-year-old Ginger and Rosa actress looks every bit the part of a bonafide movie star on the cover, working a bejeweled Miu Miu midnight blue satin dress, fresh-faced makeup, and dreamy expression against the blue-gray background. And while the image is compelling enough to make us stop and take notice, the final touches- colorful rainbow streaks swooped right across Elle's wispy blonde hair- make it pretty much impossible to turn away.
Adam Lambert covers the 'Obsession' issue of Fiasco Magazine.

Excuse us for a sec while we pick our jaws up off the floor....because WOW. How amazing does Adam Lambert look on the cover of Fiasco magazine?! We may know and love the singer for his totally OTT outfits (see exhibits A, B, and C), but who knew he looked SO good rocking clean cut minimalism, too? He's on the new "Obsession" issue for the London-based publication, smizing hard in leather-trimmed overcoat, collared shirt and black tie. Oh, and get this— there's absolutely ZERO eyeliner in sight! This no-makeup look paired with his slick side-parted gray hair is such a departure from Adam's signature statement aesthetic, we almost wouldn't recognize him were it not for those piercing blue eyes. Bottom line: this is Glambert as we've never seen him before.
Rita Ora goes girly for 'Glamour' UK and models masculine pieces for 'Harper's Bazaar' UK.

With a handful of amazing singles, unforgettable live performances, and a new modeling contract under her belt, 2012 has been an absolutely epic year for Rita Ora. We're not exactly fortune-tellers, but we're still willing to place bets that 2013 is going to be equally as awesome for Jay-Z's Roc Nation protege. The U.K. singer already has one foot firmly planted in the future, with two magazine cameos for January, showing off just HOW versatile the star really is. The 22-year-old shows her girlier side on the cover of the new issue of Glamour UK working a sweepy side ponytail, a floral Christian Dior shirtdress, and not a sneaker in sight (!). It might be a different Rita than the one we're used to obsessing over for her kooky-cool style, but the girl pulls off this pretty femininity perfectly. Almost as perfectly as she does the menswear-inspired ensembles for Harper's Bazaar UK, we might add. Because let's be honest: two Ritas are ALWAYS better than one.
Yep, it's true—2012 is almost over, and, gosh, what a fashion-filled year it has been! From the breathtaking magazine covers to the oh-so-shocking haircuts to the incredible red carpet dresses, there certainly wasn't a dull fashion moment over the past 12 months. So sit back and relax as we reminisce about all our favorite style moments of 2012.
The hyper speed instant gratification of the Internet is awfully nice, but there's also something to be said for closing that laptop and cuddling up with your favorite glossy's new issue. There's the satisfaction of feeling the pages in your hands, that half paper half perfume ads fashion mag smell, that's the perfect combination of comforting and indulgent. I mean, until you get a paper cut, that is (we still work on the internet, after all). But seriously, we love fashion mags for many reasons, not least of which being their COVERS. Seeing our favorite celebs looking amazing, and often going out of their comfort zones. taking risks, and revealing new looks is something we look forward to every month. This was a big year for our fave mags AND our fave stars, which made picking our faves SO. HARD. But we did it, you guys. Just for you.
One Direction On Wonderland
One Direction (and puppies! on the November December cover of Wonderland.
One Direction and puppies. There's really nothing more to say, this cover speaks for itself. It's like Wonderland magazine has concocted a secret love potion that should never have been secret. It's a no brainer, right? You combine perfectly coiffed young pop stars, crisp collars and soft cashmere with snuggly, squirmy little white lab pups and what do you think is going to happen besides a collective gasp-swoon-faint combination.
Carly Rae Jepsen is Cosmo's January cover girl.
Photo: Courtesy of Cosmopolitan magazine
Carly Rae Jepsen is showing herself to have staying power. With a mega-hit like "Call Me Maybe," which was not only a smash on the radio and on the charts, but on the internet as well (but you know ALL about that, we're sure), there's always the danger that your pan-flash will be just that. The tune has been out for over a year now, though, and with a second album and a Billboard Rising Star of 2012 designation, it's fair to say that there's more to Jepsen than just one tune. She is also teaching us lessons on the versatility of a simple haircut, with her signature blunt bangs and thick, long mane taking her from viral videos to the red carpet and back. Now, she's not the first to sport the wash and wear cut (there might even be some Style staffers who have been rocking it since before "Call Me" was a glimmer in Carly's eye), but she manages consistently to make it look different from cover to cover, mag spread to mag spread. On the January cover of Cosmopolitan, Carly is artfully disheveled, with her bangs and chin-length layers pushed forward, very nearly obscuring her smudgy, smoky eye.
Nikki Reed covers the November/December issue of 'ZOOEY.'
Photo: via 'ZOOEY' magazine Facebook
Nikki Reed has played a troubled highschooler in Thirteen, a rebellious California girl in Lords of Dogtown, and an adopted Cullen in Twilight. But a '50s housewife? Mmmm, not so much... until now, that is. She may prefer to sport sleek column dresses and modern-looking metallics on the red carpet, but the writer-actress flexes her dramatic muscles even further in the November/December issue of ZOOEY magazine, channeling her inner Stepford wife in prim collars, pretty prints, and even leather driving gloves. The cover might be simple with its teal background and lack of splashy headlines, but as Lena Dunham's recent iD cameo proves, this straightforwardness (and Nikki's gorgeous glance) is exactly what makes this shot SO compelling.
