Miley Cyrus

Back in June, we hooked Miley Cyrus up with an arsenal of Smiler Stan Swag to rep for their favorite girl. It's a pretty thorough haul (we think) with a lot of different options no matter your taste, but this brand new Marc Jacobs "Skin" tee might trump them all. The shirt is manufactured and sold for the explicit purpose of raising awareness and funds for skin cancer research, and all proceeds from its sale will be donated to NYU Skin Cancer Institute.

dolce & gabbana

Oh man, this Dolce & Gabbana situation is getting dire and shows no sign of letting up. Remember last month when we reported that the Italian designers—Domenico Dolce and Steffano Gabbana—were potentially facing a year and eight months jail time due to reported tax evasion charges? Well, they're now expected to pay $460 million in fines to the Italian government and the duo attests that they'd be forced to shutter in the event that the verdict stands. "If we deserved the sentence, there would be nothing to say," Gabbana told The Telegraph on Wednesday. "But we do not deserve it, and so unfortunately we would have to close." Domenico Dolce maintains the same. "We will close. What do you want us to do? We will close. We will not be able to deal with it. (It's) Impossible."

Remember how fasincated we were by Rihanna's unorthodox hat game a few weeks ago? How, all in a span of a few days (in the middle of summer, no less), Rih was spotted in a pin veiled beanie, a camo + cameo bucket hat, and a black skully with a white paisley kerchief peeking out from the fold. How she tagged "@silverspoonattire" in all her selfies with those outfits. And how we were so mesmerized by the pieces that we had to track down the designer and for a chat. Welp, London-based Silver Spoon Attire is actually helmed by a duo—Damian and Avigail Collins—and lucky for us, D was kind enough to oblige us with a quick interview over the most intimate of modes of communication: email (unfortunately, I'm no good at making overseas phone calls. Check out our words exchanged below!

KAWS, VMA Moonman

KAWS' Companion and the 2013 VMA KAWS Moonman.

Heads up, Brooklyn! On Sunday, August 25, the VMAs are setting up shop at the Barclays Center for this year's night of doling out music video honors—the first major awards show to ever take place in BK. This being SUCH a landmark occasion, we had to make it special, so for the first time in the show's 30-year history, the Moonman is getting a one-time makeover courtesy of New York-based artist Brian Donnelly, better known as KAWS.

MTV News' James Montgomery caught up with the design icon at his Brooklyn studio, both to peep the special-edition statuette which reimagines the OG Moonman in combination with KAWS' Companion—the grayscale, Mickey Mouse-inspired skull-and-crossbones character—right down to the double button-front shorts and to chat about the artist's ties to Brooklyn. Technically, KAWS grew up in Jersey City, then moved to Manhattan's Lower East Side for school before eventually moving to BK, but he's laid claim to the borough for the past 13 years. Therefore, it totally counts. Also, words alone can't accurately convey how stoked we are to fold Donnelly and his inimitable aesthetic into our VMA history, so we'd probably fudge the details to make it work no matter what. (JK, we'd never lie to you!)

A.P.C. Kanye West

The first look at A.P.C.Kanye.
Photo: A.P.C.

Like clockwork, July has rolled around, and accordingly, so has the official confirmation of that long-time rumored Kanye West x A.P.C. collaboration. Brace yourself for a bit of shameless gloating coming from this direction of the interwebz, but we've been tugging your ears (or eyes?) about this for MONTHS. Let's rehash the timeline, shall we? First, A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou mentioned in an interview with GQ (February 2012) that he and Yeezy had "wanted to do something related to clothes that's not high fashion, probably something more sporty," and while "it's mentally in the pipeline" for Touitou, he recognizes "it's just hard to get the guy out of a plane." Several months later (December 2012), Touitou tweeted a photo of the two huddled around a laptop in a black tiled room, presented without comment. Given what we know about Touitou having a recording studio at A.P.C. HQ and Ye's fashion design itch, we assumed they must be collaborating on something. Whether they were working on music or clothes was up in the air (also, for the record, we didn't rule out that they could have been YouTubing cat videos), but those GQ quotes suggested a range of garments ready to be worn IRL.

jeremy scott adidas

Looks from Adidas Originals by Jeremy Scott's Fall 13 campaign

Can you believe it's been a full DECADE since the very first Jeremy Scott for Adidas collection exploded upon the scene way back in 2003? Insane, we know. The New York designer may have been just a downtown up-and-comer in those days, but with a major celeb following and dozens of runway shows under his belt, he's a true fashion force to be reckoned with. The big 1-0 is an occasion always worth celebrating, and celebrating Jeremy Scott style means the clothes get louder, bolder, and about a zillion times crazier. For Fall 2013, the avante garde catwalk outfits and athleticwear collide yet again, this time in wildly-patterned tracksuits, bustier tops, and some seriously traffic-stopping puffy camo jackets. Y'all ready for this?!

Dolce Gabbana

As they used to say in the olden days, "Can't ban the taxman." D&G masterminds Domenico Dolce and Steffano Gabbana were found guilty of tax evasion yesterday in a Milan court and each sentenced for one year and eight months in prison. Sound like a harsh sentence? Wellll... the judge ruled that they owe the Italian government over 40 million Euros—that's around $53 million US. Clearly it wasn't like they were fudging expensed lunches on their return or stuffing dollars from the D&G outpost stores into their mattress (unless they're living on that XXL Kenzo Sofitel jammer, in which case, holler!). It's a complex ruling in which the storied designers and their company were found to have not reported earnings from a D&G offshoot based in Luxembourg, which prosecutor Laura Pedio said, "It was a very elaborate (use of an offshore company) that appeared legal, but was illegal," according to CNN. "Their attorney, Massimo Dinoia, plans to appeal the charges, saying that "Dolce and Gabbana will not go to jail now or ever."

Miley Cyrus, Cara Delevingne, and Jourdan Dunn in Dimepiece.
Photo: Splash News/Dimepiece Tumblr/Getty Images

Unless you've been living under a rock the past couple of months (or somehow managed to miss the whole Instagram boat?), chances are you're already well-versed in the total and absolute coolness that is Dimepiece. After all, we first called out the Los Angeles-based streetwear label last fall, when famous face Cara Delevingne snapped herself wearing lots— and we mean LOTS— of these rad athletic-inspired pieces backstage during Fashion Week. Since then the brand has cropped up on Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, and supermodel Jourdan Dunn, and is swiftly integrating itself into pretty much all of young Hollywood's closets. And why shouldn't it? Dimepiece has an easy, wearable vibe, practically oozes attitude, AND designers Ashley Jones and Laura Fama are exactly as awesome as you'd hope. We got proof of this when we grabbed coffee with the co-founders and longtime friends yesterday during their brief visit to Manhattan, where they spilled on the company's humble beginnings, cult celeb fan base, and their strategy for getting their duds on Beyonce. Get the scoop below!

Yeezus x Been Trill

Heron Preston wears Yeezus x Been Trill shirt.
Photo: @heronpreston's Instagram

Kanye West's Yeezus album has yet to enjoy its official release (get your plastics ready for purchase time tomorrow!), but that isn't stopping the Been Trill crew (which includes Ye's friend and style consultant Virgil Abloh) from teasing out what their captions are describing as "tour merch #yeezus x ##" (## being shorthand for the art collective often stylized "#been #trill"). Knee-jerk reaction is shock that without the album in anyone's hands, there's already talk (and maybe confirmation?) of a tour, but since we're about FASHUN here, we're going to talk about this "merch" aspect. First up, Heron Preston, late Been Trill recruit and that dude behind the bootleg Nascar factory defect shirts, posted this snap of himself wearing a black long-sleeved shirt printed with Yeezy's mug from the "New Slaves" projections across the front and "YEEZUS" in all caps with fangs down the exterior letters along both sleeves (better look here).

rick owens

Rick Owens: he's the mastermind behind hauntingly beautiful runway collections, has made cameos in more hip-hop lyrics than we can possibly keep track of, and even supports rising music talents like Zebra Katz. Yep, we're talking about a true Renaissance man here, y'all. But while we're used to seeing the designer (who's known for his distressed leather, his drapey cuts, and his mostly-black color palette) exploring his style game OFF the catwalk, now he's stepping out of these glamorous shadows and into the...gym? Yesterday WWD reported that Owens is joining forces with Adidas on sneaker collections for both men and women, giving the athletic brand's shoes an unexpected dose of gothy edge.
