A Marc Jacobs "Wanted" t-shirt.
Photo: MarcJacobs.com

Back in November, the entire Marc Jacobs spring 2012 collection was stolen from a train on its way from Paris to London. Remember that? Us, too. It was, how do you say, le BIG DEAL. The dastardly perpetrator is still at large but, luckily, the Marc Jacobs team rallied and reproduced the entire line. What's more, they had a sense of humor about it all. Not only did MJ put a giant train on the runway of his fall 2012 Louis Vuitton show (was this a gentle nod to the MJ collection theft?) he is now selling a hilarious $28 WANTED t-shirt bearing a sketch of the presumed thief.

Naomi Campbell, Nicola Formichetti, and Daphne Guinness made Fashion Mix playlists.

As you know, it's our M.O. here at MTV Style to share with the world all the beautiful, interesting, and even weird ways that fashion and music intersect from magazine editorials to music video looks to amazing and strange performance outfits. They're two comminuties of art and self-expression, so naturally, there's a healthy amount of overlap. One of our finds in this conquest for unity is SHOWstudio's Fashion Mix project in which twice a week, the fashion x film hub posts 10-12 track playlists cooked up by major players in the fashion community including model Naomi Campbell, stylist/designer/creative director Nicola Formichetti, and fashionista heiress Daphne Guinness.

Karl Lagerfeld at the Chanel Fall/Winter 2013 show as part of Paris Fashion Week.
Photo: Getty Images

Ever wonder what my favorite uncle Karl Lagerfeld gets up to in a typical 24 hour period? Yeah, me too. For some reason, he's still not taking my phone calls, so it's not like I can ask him personally. Still, I've always imagined the designer, photographer, Chanel creative director, and all-around inspirational polymat spent tons of time reading, sketching, designing, drinking Diet Coke, and stroking his favorite kitten princess, Choupette. Well, it turns out I was correct about all of that, but had NO CLUE about King Karl's predilection for staying in his jimmy-jams (PJ's for those of you who have never slept over) until noon, his breakfast of choice, the truth about his hair regime, and the fact that he doesn't even think about tiptoeing into the office until 5 p.m. But thanks to the fine folks over at Harper's Bazaar —who clearly have more pull than Karl's own [imaginary] NIECE, for goodness sakes—we now know all about KL's ponytailed daily routine. Wait, strike the word routine. Monsieur Lagerfeld hates it apparently.

Tavi Wren

Photo: Via Tavi Gevinson's Instagram and Wren's Instagram

We don't know how you spent your weekend, but a perfect one would involve frolicking in '60s-infused dresses, an impromptu acoustic guitar jam sesh, and lady makeup galore. Add girl-crush-hero and Rookie mag editor Tavi Gevinson to the mix, and you're talking dream weekend territory here. Interestingly enough, this is not a daydream but a reality, and one that was chronicled in its entirety this weekend via the magic of Twitter and Instagram. Orchestrated for the elegantly laid-back LA clothing line Wren (one of our faves!), the directing duo of Maximilla Lukacs and Sarah Sophie Flicker—otherwise known as The Belles of the Black Diamond Field—shot Tavi for an upcoming fashion film for the label, and they captured her in MUSIC MODE with guitar in hand, her hair coiffed to sophisticated perfection. You might remember Miss Gevinson's recent musical foray in the animated short film "Cadaver", in which she sang a tender and beautiful rendition of Neil Young's "Heart of Gold". Will she be singing something for Wren? Also, what is this film all about? We spoke to Sarah Sophie Flicker about all of the girl power goings-on...

Fashion designer, Lady Gaga spanker, Amy Winehouse tributer, and all around joyfully sailor-striped Frenchman, Jean Paul Gaultier, has been named the new creative director of Diet Coke. And not only will he be designing cans, he will help in the advertising and online content push for the bubbly beverage throughout the year. To celebrate the collab, Diet Coke released a series of videos featuring a fashion-challenged puppet named Irene. We're talking video magic of the BANANAS-flavored Diet Coke variety—metaphorically speaking, of course.

Kanye West Paris Fashion Week Fall 2012

Kanye West at his fall/winter 2012 Paris Fashion Week show on March 6.

Kanye West’s show was good. I realize this sounds like faint praise or an attempt at side-eyed diplomacy but it’s not. The show was good and it was safe. Anna Wintour told WSJ moments before that she anticipated a “short” show and it was also that. The show was good, safe, and short. There were 20 looks.

It’s not at all what you would expect from Kanye West. Thing is, I’m so used to BANANAS Kanye. Euphoric Kanye. Tweeting-about-DONDA-and-damn-near-breaking-the-Internet Kanye. Kanye who’s going to revolutionize school systems and videos and award shows and music. I just wish he could apply some of that energy and unabashed gassed-ness to fashion. I never thought I’d say this about Kanye West but I just wish he had been more confident. Displayed more of an ego.

Lady Gaga wearing Prabal Gurung by Linda Farrow Projects at the Born This Way Foundation launch.
Photo: Courtesy of Linda Farrow/Prabal Gurung

Lady Gaga recently launched her Born This Way Foundation at Harvard University to much deserved fanfare and MTV applause (not to mention major "woots!" for her choice to wear a ladylike Sally LaPointe dress with aerodynamic headgear). Well, if you didn't see photos of her arriving at Harvard, a delicate snow falling around her Linda Farrow bespectacled visage, then you might have missed out on the TO-DIE Prabal Gurung coat she wore over the dress. Dramatic, structured, and tinted with leather sleeves in undulating shades of jade green and bruise purple, she stepped out into the concrete winter wonderland like a magnificent queen beetle. And don't think Prabal himself didn't have something to say about it.

Azealia Banks, Kanye West Fashion Show

Ladies and gentlemen, we welcome you to KANYE WEST Runway Show Day. As you might imagine, this is a ginormous event for us all here at MTV Style. We've been counting this fash magic down ever since the last Paris Fashion Week when Yeezy made his ready-to-wear debut. Everyone in the DONDA camp has been tight-lipped about today's fall 2012 show (which is taking place at 9:30 p.m. Paris time, 3:30 p.m. ET), but news has finally (TRIUMPHANTLY) been revealed and we are in serious hyperventilation mode. You guys, Azealia Banks just tweeted a shot of the runway and it's ENORMOUS. Also? She said, "Sound Check at Kanye West Runway Show!!!!" This can only mean one thing—and it's reinforced by the multiple use of exclamation points and all caps—AZEALIA BANKS might possibly be *gasp* PERFORMING!!!! Not that we weren't expecting this already, but the Kanye West show is starting to feel like a spectacular to end all spectaculars.

kenzo fall 2012

Looks from the Fall 2012 Kenzo show at Paris Fashion Week.

It's official. We're completely OBSESSED with Kenzo. The love affair began with the newly revamped label's first Paris Fashion Week show last October, which featured Chloe Sevigny on the runway and Jason Schwartzman behind a drum kit. Our hearts swelled even more with the crazy colorful pre-fall presentation turned out to be our dream wardrobe. But the fall 2012 show—which took place in a space-age looking French university building with 50 models walking a runway that spanned four floors—catapulted us to beyond smitten with its bold mix of pattern, color, print (GRAPES!), accessories (WALNUTS!), and a front row cheer section that included Robyn and Sean "Diddy" Combs. Did we mention there were Magnolia Bakery cupcakes flown in from New York and placed on every seat? (#delicious) But, seriously, the clothes were even yummier.

Lady Gaga at Harvard University; a look from Sally LaPointe's Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show.
Photo: Courtesy of the Born This Way Foundation and Sally LaPointe

Holy Mary Mother of Little Monsters, LADY GAGA is back!!!! (Cue exploding confetti, rando fishnet stockinged dancers, cutoff jean shorts, wild hats, a cagillion leather harnesses falling from the sky, stiletto tap dancing, and multiple paws in the air.) You guys, we were at a breaking point where our Lady was concerned because, like, where in the Beetlejuice has she been?! Yes, she was wearing custom Versace at the 2012 Grammys, but she didn't walk the red carpet. Mama M just showed up all ninja stealth style to the awards show—in which she was nominated—wearing a netted face mask and holding the arm of a bodyguard, her other hand grasping a giant gold queen cane. This is not OK...because it's not enough Lady Gaga. We need her on red carpets, being spotted on the street, doing some sort of tour, going pantless at baseball games, and, you know, JUST HER around every day. *deep breaths* Well, our confusion and mild obsessive tendencies can rest, because Mother Monster launched her Born This Way Foundation at Harvard University with, ahem, a speech by Oprah yesterday. Also? Gaga wore the most amaze-craze Sally LaPointe dress.
