Grimes illustrated t-shirts for Saint Laurent.
Photo: Getty/Courtesy of Vibe

Take a moment to breathe after reading that headline, because we know you're totally freaking out, and if not, you should be. Grimes, Canadian electro-pop sorceress and all around rad girl, is collaborating with none other than Saint Laurent's Hedi Slimane on a capsule collection for the legendary French brand's menswear arm. The t-shirts feature illustrations drawn by Grimes herself and inspired by YSL's legendary 'Love' poster campaign from the 70's. They're graphic and evocative, featuring the YSL logo entwined with snakes, inside of creepy goat heads, or surrounded by planets and celestial creatures, and remind us a lot of Grimes' music, which is mystical and dark but also modern and completely accessible to a wide audience. The 5 piece collection will be released next month alongside the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2013 collection. You can see all of the tees, and read an interview with Grimes, from Vibe.

OK, for those people who aren't aware of what's going on in this week's head-on collision between the fashion world and the California skate scene, there is a storm brewing on the internet alleging that Jeremy Scott ripped off beloved artist Jimbo Phillips for his latest season. Jimbo's father, Jim Phillips, is the art director of Santa Cruz Skateboards and has been since 1975. Both of their contributions to the skate and surf art world have been celebrated for decades. Their illustration style is so widely recognized by their fans that those who caught wind of Jeremy Scott's AW 2013 collection of flailing tongues, flying eyeballs, exploding brains, and grimacing brutes were immediately up in arms. I reviewed the Jeremy Scott AW 2013 Collection so refresh your memory before we get all deep up in this.

Hailee Steinfeld at MaxMara's Fall 2013 show in Milan.
Photo: Getty

Wondering who fashion's brightest, youngest actress is this year? Look no further than MaxMara's annual crowning of the 2013 Women In Film MaxMara Face Of The Future Award winner. The prize, which is given to a young actress every year, is a pretty solid predictor of what young ingenue is going to majorly step up her fashion game in the year to come, and also an indicator of a starlet who hasn't been a sartorial slouch in years prior either. Last year's award was given to Chloë Grace Moretz, who already had a taste for Chanel, but has since gone to countless fashion shows, been on countless magazine covers, and been named the face of Aeropostale. So who is going to be blowing up our Instagram feeds with her stylish swag in 2013? Hailee Steinfeld, ladies and gentlemen! Yeah, we know you're totally not surprised, she has already been the face of Miu Miu, after all.

CL Jeremy Scott Terry Richardson

Jeremy Scott and CL in Terry Richardson's studio.
Photo: Terry Richardson

Listen, we're WELL aware that 2NE1 has a serious affinity for Jeremy Scott duds. I mean, their world tour wardrobe was created entirely by J. Scott himself, and they even collabed on a pair of kicks together. But, we have to say, there's something really, really heartwarming about seeing one of favorite K-pop stars and favorite designers actually hanging out. Terry Richardson documented CL and Jeremy looking like total besties at a photo shoot in his studio, and we're basically DYING over how cute they are. :') Like, peep them posing like a badass prom couple above. Jeremy wore an all-over patchwork bomber jacket with a sweater tied around his waist and black Adidas pants, while CL kept it simple in a vintage Gucci tee, (what looks like) vintage Versace earrings and necklace, and fiery red leather pants. She finished the look with a super clean cat eye, long lashes, and soft bangs. LOVE.

Topshop Fall 2013

Considering its celeb cult following, global customer base (ahem, the entire MTV Style staff included), and well-deserved rep for churning out uber-trendy, supercute goods time and again,Topshop is used to major hype happening loooong before the first model steps onto the runway. But this season the U.K. brand took things one step further, making its Fall/Winter Topshop Unique fashion show even more interactive than usual with Google Hangouts beforehand, streaming backstage access, and model cams on catwalkers like Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn. Because we'd do practically anything for Topshop, we set our alarms for bright and early this morning (9 a.m. on a Sunday?! Bleghhh!) to watch the action as it was happening from London. Some highlights: getting up close and personal with Louis Tomlinson in the Hangout beforehand, spying on Demi texting in the front row pre-show, AND the ability to replay the whole thing over and over again. Oh, and THE CLOTHES.

The road to Oscar weekend has been a long one— we've already made pit stops at The Screen Actors' Guild Awards, The Golden Globes, and others along the way— but there's still one more celebration that needs to happen before all the movie madness goes down on February 24. We're talking about the Costume Designers Guild Awards, where the creative geniuses behind the coolest clothes in film and TV get honored for their work. Obviously this is a HUGE DEAL, so to get psyched up for the event, we'll be chatting with nominees about the stories, inspiration, and challenges behind some of our absolute favorite outfits. Kicking off the series is Judianna Makovsky, who crafted all of the outfits in The Hunger Games, from Katniss' hunting look, to Effie Trinket's candy-colored frocks, to that iconic fire dress. Get the scoop below!

J.Crew

J.Crew Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week presentation.
Photo: Getty Images

Virtually no one has taken the mixed print trend and run with it farther than J.Crew. Come at me with a competitor — I dare you. The Jenna Lyons/Mickey Drexler one-two sartorial punch has been wielding the pattern-heavy steez for season after season after season, and this morning's Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week presentation was no exception. With this collection, the brand is pushing their arsenal of prints, building on top of their go-to preppy brocade, houndstooth, and ditsy floral, adding nods to Moroccan zillij tiling, Turkish kilim rugs, and not shying away from the occasional animal print. The interesting part about this season, though, is that, with patterns being the new normal, J.Crew has seized this opportunity to make statements with solids. So much activity piled together begs for a moment of simplicity. Enter neon orange trousers. Or an over-sized clutch. Or a baby pink cable knit. Or classic point-toe pumps. Or...you get the idea.

Karen Walker

A English punk soundtrack goes well with just about anything, but especially if you're lucky enough to be blasting it while rocking Karen Walker's boxy jackets, pleated skirts, and the rest of her Fall wares. The New Zealand designer's message came in loud and clear yesterday at her New York Fashion Week runway show, where she took cues from '70s punk rockers The Damned in her aptly titled "New Rose" collection (named after their 1976 single). Art school touches like dripping rose print motifs, highlighter yellow details and zig zag sweaters collided with collegiate staples such as pinafore dresses, slouchy socks and trench coats for an explosion of kooky cool that we want to inject into our closets immediately. Models worked messy ponytails and shaggy, mussed-up bobs as they strutted down the runway to Siouxsie Sioux and The Damned, upping the rebellious rock 'n roll ante in Walker's rad frames.

Mark McNairy

If there's one collection that we consistently want to raid every New York Fashion Week, it's that of the designer godsend Mark McNairy. Hands down. Every season. His knack for refreshing wardrobe stand-bys like t-shirts, chinos, and oxfords (the namesake shirts AND shoes) is incredible. His ability to create pieces that are timeless and true to the McNasty spirit while also pumping out collections that look and feel new every single time is uncanny. We like to think that McNairy does this all with such unwavering success because he is built with a superhuman ability that allows him to pull unabashedly from a wealth of influences, sift it all through his distinct personality and filter of wit, then translate those nuggets of so many nebulous inspirations into one eclectic yet cohesive collection season after season after season.

A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky closes the Hood By Air Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week show.
Photo: MTV

We can't say that we explicitly knew that A$AP Rocky was going to be walking in yesterday's Hood By Air New York Fashion Week show, but we definitely had a feeling he'd be there in some major capacity. Rocky reps HBA in a very serious, born-from-blood type of way, from name-checking the label in lyrics — "Hood By Air, man, I started that" — to pilfering the brand's closet for nearly his entire "Long.Live.A$AP" music video wardrobe to creating the runway soundtrack for last season's Spring 2013 Hood By Air fashion show. Dat PMF made his allegiance and unequivocal support of HBA and the line's designer, Shayne Oliver, unmistakably clear by making an unannounced guest appearance, emerging from a cloud of dry ice fog to close out the Fall 2013 show.
