In a show of patriotism, celebs, including Nicki Minaj and Hayley Williams, performed for 27,000+ troops (at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego and Camp Arifjan in Kuwait) in the "VH1 Divas Salute the Troops" concert. Many of the divas paid homage to the men and women in uniform by outfitting themselves in military–style garb and patriotic pin-up outfits onstage. We salute these star's style. Hoo-rah!

In a sea of military uniforms, to say that Nicki Minaj stood out might be an understatement. While performing, Nicki strutted across the stage in a psychedelic mini-dress, turquoise tights, and shaggy HIGH heels.

Stylish stars (no stripes, sorry!) were out for the VH1 Divas Salute the Troops concert presented by the USO, which aired last night. Pre-show, celebs—including Keri Hilson and Marisa Miller—showed their support for the troops, while making some serious style statements on the red carpet. Here are our favorites...

KERI HILSON

Keri Hilson wore neck-to-toe black (even her nail polish was black!), with shots of gold on her ears, neck and around her waist. The leggings-blouse-boots combo even made an appearance onstage during Keri's performance with Jennifer Nettles.

Grace Potter wore this same sparkly minidress while performing (with her Nocturnals) during the concert. We (heart) the shimmy-shimmy strands that hang down the back and her loafer-esque strappy peep toes.

Looks like Nicki Minaj isn't the only superstar Barbie in town. Jezebel wrote today about Entertainment Weekly's "2010 Entertainers Of the Year" issue, in which the EW editors created Lady Gaga Barbie Dolls, immortalizing some of the entertainer's most memorable moments of the year (think: MTV Video Music Awards meat dress). Checking out the creative still life images made us want to go back through our extensive photo archives to see how the doll versions of Gaga stacked up against the real life thing. Not too bad, not too bad at all.

During her Monster Ball Tour, Lady Gaga bangs, bashes up, and burns a piano as she plays. Barbie does the same thing in this photo. The only difference? Barbie might melt.

Lady Gaga? Maybe. But it just doesn't look right to see Barbie in a bikini top and shades flicking off the camera during a baseball game at Citi Field. Does it?

Rihanna performs at an American Idol Season 9 Show on April 7, 2010, at the 2009 American Music Awards on Nov. 22, 2009, and at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 12, 2010.

Kanye West interviewed Rihanna for the December issue of Interview magazine. And guess what one of his first questions was about? Yep, fashion! Specifically, "how has it evolved since the start of [her] career." And as pointed out over at Styleite, the Good Girl Gone Bad says she went from “a very, innocent, girly look," to "a darker, edgier look." And now? Rihanna says she's "over the whole structured clothing, overly shoulder-padded s***. I like stuff that's easy without trying too hard. I don’t like stuff that’s too contrived." Well, RiRi, before you brush off your shoulders (which we will miss dearly), lets celebrate them. Here's a look back at our favorite Rihanna shoulder-padded moments. Sniff-sniff.

Rihanna at a costume gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4, 2009, DKMS' Third Annual Star-Studded Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street on May 7, 2009, and Carol's Daughter in New York City on June 16, 2009.
Photos: Getty Images

THE BEGINNING: PUFFY SHOULDERS
Rihanna's shoulder situation started off less pointy and more pillowy in plush suit jackets and feminine tops with padding that looked powerful, but still soft.

Rihanna at the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City on June 29, 2009, at the Balmain Prêt à Porter during Paris Womenswear Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 on Oct. 1, 2009, and backstage during Givenchy Prêt à Porter during Paris Fashion Week on Oct. 4, 2009.

STREET CHIC
As Rihanna's toppers shrunk and became more form-fitting, her shoulder pads got narrower and grew pointier. Very Balmain.

SHOULDER GROWTH
We noticed Rihanna's shoulder pads pump up for performances like the 2009 American Music Awards. But the over-the-top look worked—it matched her big stage presence.

A SOFTER POINT
By adding feathers and fabric, or cutting off one shoulder pad altogether, Rihanna showed a more feminine side. Sure, she was still making a fashion point, but it wasn't as in-your-face.

Rihanna performs at an 'American Idol' Season 9 Show on April 7, 2010, at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 12, 2010 and during MTV's 'The Seven' in Times Square on Nov. 15, 2010.

THE END: SHOULDER EXPLOSION
Are these super-embellished, patterned and printed, quarterback-style performance pads the last we'll see from Rihanna? We sure hope not!

Ke$ha is Complex magazine's December/January 2011 cover girl.
Photo: Courtesy of 'Complex'

Ke$ha's outrageous, garbage-glam outfits—which she always rocks with head-to-toe glitter—stopped shocking us a long time ago. But when we saw her on the cover of Complex magazine's December/January 2011 issue, we were surprised. There was not a speck of sparkle on the pop star's skin, and she almost looked like a pinup girl with her black bustier and feathery hair. In the article, Ke$ha even acknowledged her previous crazy fashion antics, telling the magazine, "I was trying to look superhot. I like to poke fun at when people make fun of me, because I don't take myself that seriously. People say I'm 'garbage chic' so I thought I'd take it to the next level and make a garbage bag super f***ing chic—and I succeeded!" She sure did! We love that Ke$ha makes fashion fun, yet it appears that she doesn't seem to be tied down to the garbage bags and glitter.

The red hot lipstick, aviators, cutoff tee, and Converse sneakers give Ke$ha rock star flair in this sassy pose. (But wait! Are those her famous sparkle diapers peeking out from under her T-shirt?!)

British television host and model Alexa Chung first showed off her signature style—high fashion-meets-low key cool—in the U.S. while hosting It's On With Alexa Chung on MTV last year, where she interviewed celebs and chatted up viewers live online. It's that same quirky/effortless/offhanded chic fashion sense that has helped her land her latest TV hosting gig. Thrift America, which is slated to air on PBS next summer, is an Antiques Road Show-esque program that will follow Alexa as she meticulously digs through consignment shops, garage sales and flea markets across the country for style treasures. Is this a case of TV imitating real life? We think so (and we're already getting our DVRs ready for it)!

Our fingers are crossed that on the show Alexa describes how to score the AMAZING vintage-y looks that we've recently spotted her in...without breaking the bank.

Boys Club
In a recent New York Times interview, Alexa said that all of her "beauty icons are men." We totally see it — she wore a long, double-breasted men's suit jacket over a white blouse and high-waist shorts at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards on Nov. 15.

Overall Fab
In the same New York Times article, Alexa explained why she doesn't fuss much with her hair. "I'm going to America and they're going to try and make my hair shiny and I don't want it. I want to look like Kurt Cobain," she said in the interview. This may also explain why she recently rocked a black pair of overalls with black tights, a graphic tee, a studded clutch, and a very Kurt Cobain-esque beige cardigan.

In the Trenches
At a Miu Miu fashion show on Oct. 6, Alexa wore a girly, checkered minidress and delicate pink strappy flats with a rugged trench and oversize duffle bag.

Nicki Minaj at the Hot 97 Thanksgiving Concert in New York on Nov. 25.
Photo: WireImage

Nicki Minaj revealed quite a bit last week. In addition to releasing her debut solo album, Pink Friday, and a lipstick that she created with M.A.C., the rapper/singer's MTV documentary, Nicki Minaj: My Time Now, aired last night, AND she strutted her stuff in a see-through (from the side and behind) bodysuit while performing at a Thanksgiving Day concert in New York City. But our favorite Barbie isn't the first to bare her bum during a performance — Lady Gaga wore a ripped fishnet ensemble while performing at Lollapalooza over the summer, and then followed suit in a skintight studded number while performing in Los Angeles last month. Both Nicki and Lady Gaga are obvious talents onstage, but in these cases it was their outfits (or, lack there of!) that completely stole the show.

Nicki Minaj at the MAC + Nicki Minaj Launch of Pink Friday Lipstick in New York on Nov. 23.
Photo: WireImage

Before you head out to fight the crowds on Black Friday, you might want to log on to M.A.C's website for a little pre-shopping shopping. On the same day (Nov. 26) that rapper Nicki Minaj releases her eagerly anticipated album, Pink Friday, she'll also be releasing a limited-edition lipstick shade with M.A.C called — yep, you guessed it — Pink Friday ($14.50, MACcosmetics.com). Minaj, who has been wearing M.A.C since high school, says the lipstick is a lot like her favorite M.A.C shade "with a little extra zing!"

What Nicki had to say about creating her very own lipstick: "I wanted a color that represented female empowerment as well as euphoria! The color makes you feel free to rule the world. It's sexy, yet fun! It pops! It's theatrical! It turns heads! No matter your age, Pink Friday makes you feel like you're the life of the party!" Well then. We'll take two!

M.A.C’s Pink Friday will be available exclusively online, for four Fridays only, between Nov. 26 and Dec. 17.

Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi in New York on Nov. 23 and Nov. 20.
Photo: WireImage

This week Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi turned 23, and she had not one, but TWO birthday parties. And you know what that meant — we got double the fashion fun from the Jersey Shore star. For her first shindig on Nov. 20, Snooki wore a strapless Sherri Hill white cocktail dress with a feather-full skirt. She topped her look off with straight strands and a tiara fit for a princess. A couple of days later, Snooks celebrated in an all-black ensemble — a fitted minidress, peep-toe booties and a trench coat. For this soiree she twirled her tendrils, showing off honey-brown lowlights. We like the girly, body-boa look Snooki rocked for birthday party part one, which screams "I'm the birthday girl!" in a sweet kind of way. But what do you think?

Brittany Snow at the 'Rolling Stone' 2010 American Music Awards After Party in Los Angeles on Nov. 21, Eva Longoria Hosting the EMA in Madrid on Nov. 7.
Photo: WireImage/Getty Images

Brittany Snow and Eva Longoria both showed some skin recently when they wore a strapless beige Camilla and Marc dress to music events. Brittany picked the cream shift, which has a V-neckline and exaggerated ruffles on the skirt, for Rolling Stone's American Music Awards after-party on Nov. 21 in Hollywood. The actress paired it with strappy beige sandals and a braided chignon. A couple of weeks earlier, Eva Longoria hosted the 2010 MTV EMA in the cute mini. While both ladies rocked the neutral dress, we think Brittany Snow won this style matchup. Brittany's pulled-back hairstyle really showed off her neckline (and toned arms!), while Eva's loose, shoulder-skimming curls were a little too casual for the festive frock. But what do you think?

+Who wore Camilla and Marc best: Brittany Snow or Eva Longoria?
