The real purpose of The CW's Upfront Presentation, held today in Los Angeles, is to give industry insiders the scoop on what's coming to their televisions next fall. But for small screen stars like Kristin Kreuk, Rachel Bilson, and Nina Dobrev, the event was their chance to shine-literally- in gorgeous champagne dresses. Former Smallville actress Kreuk, who returns to the channel next season in the new adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, shimmered in a sequined tee and a floral print skirt. Despite the glittery top, she managed to keep the rest of the outfit's low-key girly vibe with nude peep-toe pumps, a statement gold bangle, and classic wavy hair. The whole look is very "J.Crew catalogue goes Hollywood," and we totally love it.

Colton Haynes Holland Roden

First off, OMG TEEN WOLF IS BACK FOR A SECOND SEASON. *pants* We are more than thrilled to see Colton Haynes and Holland Roden's adorable little faces back on the small screen, and even MORE excited to see them out and about, flashing their fashion-y selves all around town. Last night at Nylon Magazine's Young Hollywood Party, the Teen Wolf twosome sported killer colorblock ensembles that we need to discuss. Colton wore an azure blue blazer, matching blue shirt, and black trousers—and not only did Colton colorblock his outfit, but his shoes too! These lace-up oxfords have a swipe of gray at the toe, and we love that.

Fact: you don’t dress for the Met Gala to blend in. This year alone we spotted head-to-toe sequins, Barbie doll frocks, and even textured crocodile (ahem, Rihanna)...so needless to say, anyone who’s lucky enough to score an invite tries her absolute hardest to stand out from the rest of the fashion pack. But just like any big event, there were some major trends of the night- check out the three biggest below.

DRAMATIC LIPSTICK

Camilla Belle reached glamazon status in her slinky beaded Ralph Lauren gown, but the real secret weapon to the actress’s ‘20s-inspired look? Her ultra-bold, wine-hued lipstick, which perfectly complemented her almond eyes and trademark full brows. She's not the only one who channeled Old Hollywood by pairing dark lips with shimmery metallic dresses; it's well-tread beauty territory, and we couldn't be happier. Lana Del Rey played up her music industry darling rep with her Altuzarra dress (and cape!), which strikingly offset her burgundy lipstick and swoop of black liner. But here's proof you don't have to retire your ruby red shade just yet: Jessica Alba looked to the brighter side with a cherry-tinted lipstick in her Michael Kors gown- just as dramatic, still just as gorgeous as the rest.

In the world of fashion education, Parsons The New School for Design is the Harvard of burgeoning fashion designers. With competitive entry and a rigorous curriculum, it is held in high esteem for producing world renowned fashion designers like Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs. Every year, the Parsons graduating class puts on a runway show to showcase the next generation of design talent, and three lucky students are crowned Designers of the Year in the respective fields of Womenswear, Menswear, and Children's Wear. I was completely BLOWN AWAY by the work of these talented students. There was children's wear made of the most insanely—yet beautifully—structured knits. Layered menswear with way oversized messenger bags drew gasps while look after look of mega tailored noir womenswear kept everyone bobbing their heads like at an intense tennis match. All in all, it was something truly special to behold and begs the question: Which one of these up-and-comers will be the next Alexander Wang or Prabal Gurung?

JIN KAY

The title of 2012 Womenswear Designer of the Year was awarded to Jin Kay from Seoul, South Korea. Kay's cohesive collection of all-black structured looks were both dramatic and wispily feminine. The entire collection was wearable, covetable, and just what you might imagine a downtown gal wearing to her boyfriend's gallery opening. Every look accentuated the body in a chic yet subtle way, and though you can't tell from these photos alone, the craftsmanship was bonkers. These looks need to be on racks, red carpets, and upon my person immediately. I have a good feeling we'll be hearing more about Mr. Jin Kay in the future.

Lana Del Rey Azealia Banks

The secret's out! Lana Del Rey and Azealia Banks have revealed their dates to the highly-anticipated Met Gala (which is exactly one week away!), and *GASP* they're two of our FAVE designers. Earlier this year, J.Crew's creative director Jenna Lyons spilled the beans that she'd be hitting the red carpet with Lana Del Rey and Joseph Altuzarra, but Fashionista confirmed that it's actually JUST Lana and Joseph that are going together. Ooh la la! Azealia Banks revealed her date via Twitter (of course!) and said, "I can't wait for the MET ball! I'm going as Alexander Wang's date. He custom made my outfit and shoes ! !!!! It's soooo hot !" Wait, is this THE pair of shoes and dress she tweeted about awhile back? We hope so!

Dakota Fanning, Zooey Deschanel, Ginnifer Goodwin

Every year, the White House Correspondents Dinner brings the worlds of politics and Hollywood together under one fashionable Washington D.C. roof to dine with (and enjoy a speech delivered by) the President of the United States of America. Witty barbs are tossed around the room from the evening's designated host—who was Jimmy Kimmel this year—and everyone dresses up in their fanciest finery, aka black ties and gowns galore, usually of the more subdued variety. (Neon minidresses and/or jumpsuits made of wig hair should be saved for after-parties only.) This year, a bevy of beauties classed-up the evening in various shades of grey. Dakota Fanning and Zooey Deschanel both chose classic lady-gowns adorned in flowers, and Ginnifer Goodwin went for eco-friendly ruffles in the lightest, creamiest of grey.

Met Gala

This year's Met Gala will be livestreamed.
Photo: Getty Images

STOP THE FASHION PRESSES! Big news. HUGE. Are you holding onto the lapels of your leather jacket and/or clutching the sides of your computer machine as you focus your gaze upon these words? Do so, because hyperventilation or hallucinative vapors may result in reaction to this oh-so glorious news. Vogue Daily just announced that the most exclusive fashion party of the year, namely the Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (aka the Met Gala) will be streaming all of the glitz and glamour that is their red carpet LIVE. Taking place on Monday, May 7, from 6:30 to 8:30, hosts Elettra Wiedeman and Vogue's William Norwich will interview this year's gala chairs—like newlywed Carey Mulligan and honored designer Miuccia Prada—along with what's sure to be an exhaustive bevy of celeb beauties from Rihanna to Kanye. (Remember when we crowned him Prom King last year? Will he show up with Prom Queen Kim K this year? Zut alors!) We have a few questions, though; most specifically, WHY ISN'T ANDRE LEON TALLEY DOING THE RED CARPET COVERAGE?!

Nicholas Kirkwood's spring collection at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Photo: MTV Style

To say we're bananas about shoes is an understatement. Give us sky-high platforms, wooden clod-hoppers, sparkle oxfords, or neon yellow heel warriors and we're beaming with everlasting joy. Give us a pair designed by Nicholas Kirkwood, however, and we're gone. Finito. Passed out under the table. You guys, Nicholas Kirkwood's heels, nay works of art, are so bazonkers amazing, we need to break out the smelling salts when a new collection debuts. And once you see them in person and/or feel their gloriousness on your feet—like we did last night at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan (*squee*)—their beauty becomes three-dimensional yet still totally unreal. Mr. Kirkwood himself was in attendance from his native Britain to debut the spring collection, and from the lines of well-heeled ladies waiting to get a moment of his time to the oohing and ahhhing over a pair of scribbled flower color block platforms, we knew we died and went to shoe heaven.

Blake Lively and Chloë Moretz attend the Jason Wu for Target launch in New York City.

The Jason Wu for Target collection is almost here! We're seriously getting antsy about the Feb. 5 launch date and are expecting a shopping EVENT reminiscent of the Great Missoni Frenzy of 2011. We've already waxed poetical (aka gushed with our typing fingers) about how much we want everything in the collection, especially anything involving the collection's mascot, Milu the mischievous black cat. There was a private launch event for the line in New York City last night attended by Blake Lively and Chloë Moretz , who both wore Jason Wu . Now that we've seen actual pieces from the line on a person (hi, Miss Moretz), we're officially combusting in our office chairs. Will we—or ANY of us—be able to get our hands on this black and white magic?

Elizabeth Olsen, Victoria Justice, and Liv Tyler at the Sundance Film Festival
Photo: Getty Images

The Sundance Film Festival kicked off this weekend, and as usual, the style spotting involved a parade of boots and cozy chic. If there's one event where celebs can throw some fun into their wardrobe while exuding total comfort and 'dorbsness, it's Sundance. And what better way to accentuate your jeans (which are the norm in mountainous Utah) than with a stylish sweater? Usually there's no shortage of Ugg(h)s, skinnies, and Park City parkas, but this year the ladies mixed it up with some seriously kewl sweater sass that we're all set to steal. Elizabeth Olsen paired black booties and brown legging cords with a vintage Versace-esque tiger sweater. Victoria Justice layered a muli-striped cropped sweater over a black tee and skinny jeans, and accentuated the red in her sweater with matching knee-high socks (kudos on style and cold-weather function). We were thrilled to see Liv Tyler looking lovely in cascading brunette rivulets and a killer Balenciaga sweater that we'd be wearing right now if we'd won the lottery. Oh, and they weren't the only ones all knitted out...
