Fashion Week is here! Well, almost here. We're merely a few days away from the stylish feeding frenzy that is Fashion's Night Out, aka Fashion Week Eve, and we're beyond thrilled at how much we're going to try to cram into one night. One of our most anticipated events is easily the Marc by Marc Jacobs and Minx nails collaboration. For one night only, Marc by Marc will be giving away custom adhesive Minx nails (guaranteed to last two days or "one long passionate night," which sounds scandalous!) with any MJ purchase at Saks New York and both downtown and uptown Bloomingdale's locations. Nail stylist (and MTV Style FAVE) Lisa Logan will also be on hand (literally) to offer personal application. Oh, and the prints? We don't even know where to begin, but we'll start with colorful, 1970s print-tastic AMAZINGNESS that you'll be desperate to own right NOW.

MTV First: Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga during the 'MTV First: Lady Gaga' livestream.
Photo: Scott Gries/PictureGroup

Remember last night when THE Lady Gaga stopped by MTV to share her big Video Music Awards announcement (SPOILER ALERT: She's opening up the show!), and we caught it ALL live during the "MTV First: Lady Gaga" livestream? We do! But what resonated with us looonnggg after Gaga left her fashion-y Little Monsters behind was that to-die-for ensemble. Who made that GORGE sculpted lace overlay dress with a velvet belt? Where can we find that incredible oversized white hat? Well friends, we've got the scoop on her head-to-toe ensemble (thanks to her style team: fashion director Nicola Formichetti, stylist Brandon Maxwell, hairstylist Frederic Aspiras, makeup artist Tara Savelo, and nail artist Aya Fukuda) below!

Besides a horde of pubescent boys wielding lightsabers (and our own, non-lightsaber wielding senior editor) descending upon San Diego for Comic-Con, the city also played host to basically everyone who has ever mattered ever. (Not really. Jared Leto wasn't there. But a whole heap of our fashion faves were.) Though the Con is more for dressing WAY up as Batman or letting your casual flag fly, a couple of our leading ladies took the time to demonstrate that being a geek doesn't mean you aren't chic well-dressed in killer heels. Check out our best-dressed list for Comic-Con below—and if, like us, you are craving a Kristen Stewart fix with shaky hands and pasty skin, we cover her totally cool (and affordable!) Comic-Con outfit here.

Justin Bieber at the 2011 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, California, on July 13, 2011.

If there's one thing Justin Bieber knows how to do, it's how to cater to EVERY DEMOGRAPHIC of women in existence. Last night, at the ESPY Awards show, he channeled Lower East Side gothic nightclub chic for the red carpet but when he hit the stage, his NASCAR-inspired jumpsuit looked straight out of Talladega Nights.

When we see Justin Bieber in this race car getup, we imagine him suddenly saying phrases like, "UHHH-MERRCAA" and "GET 'ER DONE." But we kind of enjoy his hat tip to our country's redder states—mostly because the "sponsors" glued to his chest are a peace sign, the entire country of Canada, and, um, himself? THAT'S HIS OWN "SOMEDAY" PERFUME LOGO ON THERE, GUYS. So smart. Soooooo smart. Also, we love that he didn't leave ALL of his Bieberness behind—he's still sporting some glittery kicks.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge at the 2011 BAFTA Brits To Watch Event in Los Angeles, California, on July 9, 2011.
Photo: Getty Images

The BAFTAs, which stands for the British Academy of Film and Television Awards, may have been held in February but their "Brits to Watch Award" event, hosted by none other than Prince William and Kate Middleton during their whirlwind California tour, remind us that the folks from across the pond can hold it down on the red carpet against Hollywood's most sparkly ladies.

Dressed like a goddess in her cinch-waisted Alexander McQueen (who does soft and gentle as well as he does brusque and angular, and is almost the de facto designer for the duchess), Kate embodied royalty the same way that Princess Grace once did. Word on the street is that her neutral shoes are Jimmy Choos, which is an applause-worthy choice. Hollywood starlets could do black or even shimmery with this dress, but Kate’s pale turn is appropriately regal.

At first glance, Blake Lively, provided lively (erm) competition in the queenly realm (see what we did there?) but upon really studying her Marchesa gown, it’s clear she went for a totally different vibe. Sure, there is a femininity and composure to her swooped dress, but the one shoulder is subtly sensual. The draped trail and gauzy layer provide a drama that may not be fit for a queen...but definitely looks gorgeous on the red carpet.

Though maybe not appropriate for a visit to Buckingham Palace, Jennifer Lopez’s belly-baring dress reminds us that ladies do indeed run the world. The dress comes from the same collection as the green Pucci Beyoncé rocked with combat boots in her "Run The World (Girls)" music video. This full-length gown opts for cutouts that reveal glimpses of Jennifer Lopez’s legendary (and still bangin’) bod and one ornately sequined sleeve. J. Lo is still sexy without being over the top.

For some, just deciding "what to wear" is too simple. They go above and beyond just agonizing over the fit of a dress, the hue of a nail polish, or the balance of a silhouette. Instead, a bold brave few of fashion-masochists take on, even revel in, the insane undertaking of MULTIPLE wardrobe changes for a one-night affair (to which we at MTV Style say, "AMEN! And more power to ya!" as we watch from the sidelines). At this year's MuchMusic Video Awards, two such ladies went head-to-head in a most unlikely match-up: co-host and burgeoning style star Selena Gomez versus musical act and reigning fashion icon Lady Gaga. Who do you think brought it the most?

Arriving at the awards, Selena wore a nude backless Burberry Prorsum dress with tiered ruffles and a pair of royal purple satin peep-toe Zanottis. Backstage, after accepting two awards, Lady Gaga wore a vintage Versace cobalt and black blazer and Technicolor graphic leggings (in keeping with her oath to wear only the designer's threads for the next two months) with gold studded platform booties. Who took the crown on this round?

Ke$ha, Olivia Palermo, and Jennifer Hudson at the 2nd Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala in New York on June 14.
Photo: Getty Images

So basically errrerybody (from Courtney Love to Liza Minnelli to James Franco) came out for last night's annual amfAR Inspiration Gala, which is a stylish shindig/fashion show thrown every year to raise money for AIDS research, which is a good thing. But a great thing includes our FAVE off-runway looks presented by our girls Ke$ha, Olivia Palermo, and Jennifer Hudson.

When Ke$ha walked the red carpet, we weren't sure which shocked us more—the oddly adult frontless Abed Mahfouz black gown, the bright blue hue weaved into her side pony, OR her silver hand cage/bracelet hybrid thang, which engulfed her entire left hand. So we called it a draw and decided the most shocking thing was how solid the whole ensemble looked together. Ke$ha has been known to look like a child's finger painting before, but her streak is pulled off with finesse and an odd amount of refinery. (Is she finally an "old blue hair"?)

The CFDA Awards, hosted by the Council of Fashion Designers in America (hence the name CFDA), is appropriately dubbed the Oscars of fashion. Of course, the Council only recognizes American designers, but that is totally great with us because it reminds us that Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenburg and Vera Wang all claim this landspace as their own. The ceremony, a rather small affair that is about as easy to get invited to as the Royal Wedding, is the time when American designers get to walk with their current "muses." Past award winners featured Iman (as an icon), Michelle Obama (as a special tribute) and Rodarte (best womenswear).

The real Oscars are for beauty and classic-ness, but the CFDA's prove that a celeb has the fashion chutzpah to own the red carpet. And, of course, there was Lady Gaga, who is now an official CFDA Fashion Icon.

Love her, hate her, or shut off each time she is mentioned (which in all fairness, is quite a lot), her CFDA nod firmly cemented her status as a real game-changer, not just a punk kid in wacky boots. We love that she brought her vamped out sister Natali as her red carpet date. The piercing eyes and Italian fierceness is clearly genetic—though definitely NOT genetic was Gaga's blunt cut aqua bob, which appeared front and center. However, we aren't massive fans of her unwieldy and dragging train, which was reportedly such a hassle she couldn't make it into the press room for interviews. Yet, in true Gaga-watching form, we wrestle with conflicting emotions on her acceptance getup: She ditched the train and then turned around to moon the industry—Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington included. Maybe not the most classic and respectful of moves, but hey, even as a game-changer, she still is a punk kid in wacky boots. But she wasn't the only one who kept the paps a-snappin'.
