The 2011 Oscars red carpet was just the beginning. Nominees plus dozens of other celebs slipped into their cutest cocktail dresses for the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, one of the most coveted post-Academy Awards tickets in Hollywood.

SHOWSTOPPERS: A memo must have gone out! There was a TON of crimson at the Oscars, and the scene was much the same at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. Zoe Saldana wore a Prabal Gurung fuchsia and red frock, Selena Gomez slipped into a body-lengthening Dolce & Gabbana gown, Anna Kendrick wore a ruffled scarlet Notte by Marchesa dress, and Anna Paquin rocked a ballet-inspired Monique Lhuillier dress.

THRILL OF THE LACE: Nothing says glamour like a little lace. Mia Wasikowska (in Stella McCartney), Zooey Deschanel (in Valentino), Ginnifer Goodwin (in Erdem), and Jena Malone (in a sleeveless, tummy-"showing" cocktail dress) chose to drive the point home in A LOT of the feminine fabric.

AU NATUREL: You'd think that wearing a dress that matches your skin tone would completely wash you out and make you look like a blob of, well, beige. But it was quite the opposite for Jessica Biel (in a strappy Versace gown), Gwyneth Paltrow (in the same Michael Kors gown she performed in at the Oscars), Taylor Swift (in a Zuhair Murad minidress), and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (in a Valentino Haute Couture dress). These stars glowed!

SINGING THE BLUES: Our new fashion theory is that ANYONE can dazzle in a blue hue. Enter: Rosario Dawson in a high-slit Diane von Furstenberg dress, Lea Michele in a long-sleeve sparkling Roberto Cavalli gown, and Dianna Agron in an ankle-length, flowing frock by J. Mendel.

TAKE THE PLUNGE: One thing's for sure—a lot of double-sided tape was used last night to keep the deep necklines of Claire Danes' cream Calvin Klein dress, Emma Roberts' sparkling Jenny Packham creation, and Gabrielle Union's stunning Diane von Furstenberg purple dress in place.

CHIC FRILLS: You have to be careful with ruffles, as there's a fine line between classy and trashy, but these ladies pull them off. Rashida Jones (in Valentino), Selita Ebanks (in red and beige one-shoulder dress), Amanda Seyfried (in Valentino), and Cameron Diaz (in Carolina Herrera), looked uber-ladylike in their perfectly frilly frocks.

PRINTS CHARMING:We know that trends come in threes (at least). But we were so mesmerized by Emma Stone's short-sleeved Chanel Haute Couture dress and Lourdes Leon's AllSaints Aztec minidress that we couldn't help but mentioning. You like, right?

Anne Hathaway's Wardrobe Changes

Hosting the Oscars is no easy task. And we're just talking about the outfit changes! Anne Hathaway, who cohosted the 83rd Annual Academy Awards last night with nominee James Franco, went through eight stunning looks throughout the evening, all while singing, dancing, and laughing at Franco's deadpan jokes. The actress (who is the youngest person to ever host, by the way) definitely deserves kudos for that! Here's the look-by-look...

RED CARPET ALERT: Anne was one of a handful of celebs who chose red for the red carpet. Her pick, this Valentino tube dress with some serious bustle action going on. To drive the crimson theme home, the actress painted her nails and pout in the hue.

SNOW QUEEN: For her opening monologue Anne wore a white strapless flowing number with beading by Givenchy. Oh, and Anne, don't think we didn't notice that you changed your nail polish from red to nude!

BOYS CLUB: James Franco wasn't the only one to wear a tux onstage. Anne slipped into the feminine Lanvin number with satin lapels for her brief sing-song. She paired the sexy suit with glittering Swarovski crystal-covered Brian Atwood pumps.

GREY GARDEN: Rumor has it that this princess-style gown was custom designed for Anne by Vivienne Westwood. The actress teamed the taffeta and lace corseted frock with a fancy pants diamond and amethyst necklace.

SHIMMY-SHIMMY: This one-shoulder silver beaded embroidered gown by Oscar de la Renta may have been Anne's personal favorite. With all of its tassels, she couldn't help but dance. Totally understandable. P.S. We wouldn't have minded seeing her hair coifed like this—wavy and carefree—for the entire show.

BRICK HOUSE: Anne showed off her amazing figure in this brick-colored Atelier Versace silk gown, which featured a body-hugging, corset-style bodice.

PURPLE REIGN: This luminescent and satin-y sapphire Armani Privé evening gown features off-the-shoulder straps, a fitted bodice and a high back slit. We are dying to know what color/brand lipstick Anne is wearing here. Anyone? Anyone?

ALL THAT GLITTERS: To close the night, Anne slinked into a skintight Tom Ford lace long-sleeve dress, which was adorned with mesmerizing crystals, and pulled her hair into a low party-ready bun.

The red (er, fuschia) carpet at Sunday night's 83rd Annual Academy Awards (aka the granddaddy of all awards shows) featured a handful of classic fashion hits (trains, bustles, etc.), plus a slew of surprise ensembles (who knew so many celebs would rock red?!). Here are the looks we’ll be talking about ALL week long…

MILA KUNIS: Black Swan star Mila Kunis brought the glamor in a lacy lilac Elie Saab gown, which she wore with Neil Lane jewelry. J'ADORE!

MICHELLE WILLIAMS: Michelle Williams, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Blue Valentine, balanced the conservative cut of her champagne Chanel gown with head-to-toe encrusted crystals.

MANDY MOORE: Mandy Moore, who performed with Zachary Levi, rocked the red carpet in a twinkling gold Monique Lhuillier gown.

FLORENCE WELCH: Florence Welch, who performed "If I Rise" from 127 Hours, let her fiery red hair do the talking, while keeping her gown choice—a lace tiered Valentino number—muted.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: One of the first celebs to walk the red carpet, Jennifer Lawrence got the party started in a sleek red Calvin Klein shift that looked painted on!

For every awards show that comes, we try to predict which trends will rule the red carpet. Most of the time, we are completely surprised (pleasantly) by the looks the stars step out in...which was the case at Sunday night's 2011 Academy Awards. From lovely lace to shades of purple, here’s the lowdown on this year’s hottest Oscars red carpet trends.

IN THE NUDE: Mandy Moore, Halle Berry, and Florence Welch looked naturally beautiful in nude-hued gowns. Mandy wore a shoulder-baring Marchesa dress, while Halle also sported a magnificent Marchesa creation, and Florence gave the red carpet a vintage-y vibe in a tired Valentino frock.

RED HAUTE: Jennifer Lawrence (in Calvin Klein), Sandra Bullock (in Vera Wang), and Jennifer Hudson (in Versace) were just a few of the bombshells to wear a serious pop of color.

SHADES OF PURPLE: Purple reigned with Mila Kunis donning a boundary-pushing Elie Saab gown with white drop earrings, Natalie Portman showing her baby bump in a flowing Rodarte dress, and Cate Blanchett wearing a work of art in the form of a Givenchy frock.

GLITTER AND SEQUINS: It's one way to turn heads on the red carpet! Mandy Moore (in Monique Lhuillier), Amy Adams (in L'Wren Scott), and Michelle Williams (in Chanel) weren't hard to miss in their sparkling gowns.

SHEER THINGS: Mila Kunis, Hailee Steinfeld, and Scarlett Johansson looked lovely in lace. Mila's lavender Elie Saab dress was demure yet insanely sexy. Meanwhile, Hailee looked like a modern day princess in Marchesa, and Scarlett's Dolce & Gabbana gown was the talk of the carpet.

8:16 pmZachary Levi, who is singing with Mandy Moore at tonight's show, proves (once again) why we chose him as a Hottest Hustler a few weeks ago. This guy looks amazingly sharp from neck (the bow tie!) to toe (the shiny lace-ups!).

8:01 pm — We're seeing a trend! Sandra Bullock ALSO wore red on the red carpet. Her pick: a classic and beautiful Vera Wang strapless gown with a full and fabulous bustle.

7:56 pmGwyneth Paltrow looks sleek and modern (like we'd want to look on a red carpet!) in a metallic gold Calvin Klein gown with a deep skinny V-neck front.

7:53 pmJustin Timberlake might just be the best-dressed man on the red carpet. Probably because his Tom Ford tux is custom-tailored to fit him like a glove.

7:24 pm — Who's digging the lacy, form-fitting Dolce & Gabbana gown that Scarlett Johansson is rocking? WE ARE!! Our only critique is that the maroon hue doesn't pop off the red carpet as much as we'd like it to.

7:09 pm — In a sea of black and white tuxes, Jennifer Hudson brings a pop of color in this tangerine Versace halter dress. And the word on the street is that she's wearing purple shoes underneath!

6:53 pm — Lovely is probably the best way we can describe Michelle Williams' look—her lightly coiffed pixie, her circle diamond earrings, and her glittery Chanel frock.

6:51 pm — Performer Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine wears a lot of nude/beige on red carpets, so this lacy Valentino number was no big surprise. But we love it nonetheless!!

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards is tonight! Will King's Speech win for Best Film? Will Natalie Portman take home an Oscar for her role in Black Swan? Who knows! The more important question (as far as we're concerned) is: What will the stars be wearing? Will young nominee Hailee Steinfeld rock something new from Prada or something vintage? Will cohost James Franco keep his ensemble classy or kooky? Well, it's time to find out. We'll be here live-blogging the red carpet arrivals, so come back and tell us what you're loving/hating. And for the whole kit and caboodle, click here to check out the MTV Style Academy Awards fashion gallery!

Olivia Palermo at the Matthew Williamson and Mulberry Salon fashion shows in London on Feb. 20, at the Rachel Roy Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show in New York on Feb. 15.
Photo: Getty Images/WireImage

The City alum Olivia Palermo has been piling on the layers, wearing everything (but the kitchen sink) to fashion shows from New York City to London...and we sort of love it! For the Matthew Williamson show on Feb. 20 in London, Olivia went cowgirl in a knitted turtleneck, furry cream coat, Topshop pleated maxi skirt and a fedora. That same day she sat front row at the Mulberry fashion show wearing a flippy miniskirt, scoop neck tee, tan blazer, caramel Mulberry leather jacket, gray lace-up heels, and an animal print Mulberry bag...whew! While in New York City a few days earlier, Olivia popped by the Rachel Roy fashion presentation just as covered up in a tailored coat, leather skirt, leopard print lace-ups, and a ton of fur. A TON.

+ Do you like Olivia Palermo's layered look? Or, is it just too much?

New York Fall 2011 Fashion Week has officially wrapped, but not without leaving some fierce trends in its wake. From beautiful braids to mix-and-match prints, these are the fall trends that got our attention. Confession: We’re seriously contemplating jumping the gun and wearing these hot looks NOW. What? Is that a problem?

DEEP TEAL: Pantone wasn’t joking when they said that deep teal would be the go-to hue for Fall 2011. Dozens of designers including Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, and Rachel Roy incorporated the ocean-invoking shade into their collections. What we noticed: It’s a color that works on every skin tone.

Models walk the runway at Marc Jacobs on Feb. 14, Rachel Roy on Feb. 15, and Rodarte on Feb. 15 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

WILD PRINTS: Prints in fall aren’t really anything shocking, but hyper mixing and matching them like Anna Sui, Rebecca Taylor, Betsey Johnson did is definitely something new. The colorful look is bold and brazen—wallflowers need not apply.

Models walk the runway at Anna Sui on Feb. 16, Rebecca Taylor on Feb. 11, and Betsey Johnson on Feb. 14 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

HIGH NECKLINES: Turtlenecks sort of fell off the radar over the last few years, but they are back in a big way. Everyone from Christian Siriano and BCBG Max Azria to Tommy Hilfiger showed the topper on the runway this week, teaming it with flowing dresses and draping skirts.

Models walk the runway at Christian Siriano on February 10, BCBG Max Azria on Feb. 10, and Tommy Hilfiger on Feb. 13 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

'70S INSPIRED: Tory Burch, Anna Sui, and Marc By Marc Jacobs flaunted their ‘70s inspired looks—fluffy furs, oversize shades, and bow-collared blouses—on the runway. Do you dig it, foxy?

Models walk the runway at Tory Burch on Feb. 13, Anna Sui on Feb. 16, and Marc By Marc Jacobs on Feb. 15 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

BRAIDS WITH A TWIST: As for hair, woven locks were the popular pick. But not just any old French braid would do for these designers. Erin Fetherston interlaced metallic thread into braided crowns, a Mara Hoffman showed fat side braids, and Charlotte Ronson’s plaits were tiny and hidden at the nape of her models’ necks.

Yesterday was the last day of New York Fashion Week (sniff-sniff), and it ended with a bang...and poodles. Check out our favorite looks below.

L.A.M.B.: The models at L.A.M.B.'s fall fashion show had serious attitudes. But, it was all part of the show, which featured military-inspired jackets and trousers, Rasta-influenced looks, and glamorous/billowy gowns.

NAEEM KHAN: Naeem Khan's collection was full of glittering gowns and embellished minis—all the ingredients for a perfect red carpet look.

RALPH LAUREN: Inspired by Asian culture and fashion, Ralph Lauren infused fine silks, bright embroideries, regal velvet, and super-slim silhouettes into his fall collection.

ISAAC MIZRAHI: If there's one thing Isaac Mizrahi's fashion shows are not, it is boring. In a nod to the 1950s sock-hop, each model—in A-line coats, tea dresses, and faille skirts—wore a poodle-esque pouf atop her head. Oh, and real poodles, whose hair was dyed in candy shades, walked the runway, too.

CALVIN KLEIN: Minimalist chic was the name of the game at Calvin Klein's fall fashion show, with models parading out in muted hues, rich fabrics, and looser silhouettes.

It's beginning to look a lot like fall. At New York Fall 2011 Fashion Week. Not in real life. Thank goodness! Designers, including Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler, Marchesa, Anna Sui, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Michael Kors infused their lines with autumnal colors, luxe fabrics, and pretty patterns. Here are our most recent favorite looks. Which ones do you love?

OSCAR DE LA RENTA: Oscar de la Renta mixed textures for his fall line that included a red fox fur skirt, a glorious navy column dress, and head-to-toe dark turquoise ensembles.

PROENZA SCHOULER: The designers behind Proenza Schouler went print crazy for its Fall 2011 presentation, teaming tribal and art-deco inspired prints, with a non-assuming color palette of blue, green and orange hues.

ANNA SUI: This collection was full of flirty bohemian inspired dresses, tights, and toppers. And in a Fashion Week full of serious runway models, it was refreshing to see Anna Sui's girls smirking as they stomped down the catwalk.

MARCHESA: Marchesa's line was chock-full of romantic and whimsical fairy-tale dresses. The palette was a mix of bold reds and blacks with neutrals sprinkled in. And lace and tulle were the fabrics of choice—everything fit for a princess.

3.1 PHILIP LIM: Mostly menswear-inspired, 3.1 Philip Lim's collection was full of different textures and oversize pieces. The mix looked cool paired with models' slicked hair and river green eye shadow.

Obviously, these aren't the clothes you'd wear to the family reunion (or any reunion for that matter). But, The Blonds Fall 2011 Fashion Show is worth noting because it was freakin' awesome! Wearable? No. Awesome. YESSS! For starters, the design duo (Phillipe Blond and David Blond), who are faves of Nicki Minaj, opened the show with Chinese dragon dancers. And then, all of this happened...

TOP LOOKS: Jewel-encrusted corsets broke with colorful, draped fringe of various lengths in these glamorous red-carpet ready gowns.

MOST OUTRAGEOUS: A dragon head gave way to a black and white geisha ensemble, which gave way to a gilded disco ball ensemble that made us want to get up and groove.

WILD BEAUTY: Glittering Cleopatra-style afro wigs were worn with crazy nail looks (think: crystal dipped tips and gold talon rings). Meanwhile, eyelids were painted pink, and lips were red.

CELEBRITIES (HEART) THE BLONDS: Singer Keri Hilson (in a crystal-encrusted bustier top, miniskirt, and leather hat) and rapper Eve (in a strapless black cocktail dress with a spiky gold midriff) sat front and center.
