STOP THE FASHION PRESSES! Big news. HUGE. Are you holding onto the lapels of your leather jacket and/or clutching the sides of your computer machine as you focus your gaze upon these words? Do so, because hyperventilation or hallucinative vapors may result in reaction to this oh-so glorious news. Vogue Daily just announced that the most exclusive fashion party of the year, namely the Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (aka the Met Gala) will be streaming all of the glitz and glamour that is their red carpet LIVE. Taking place on Monday, May 7, from 6:30 to 8:30, hosts Elettra Wiedeman and Vogue's William Norwich will interview this year's gala chairs—like newlywed Carey Mulligan and honored designer Miuccia Prada—along with what's sure to be an exhaustive bevy of celeb beauties from Rihanna to Kanye. (Remember when we crowned him Prom King last year? Will he show up with Prom Queen Kim K this year? Zut alors!) We have a few questions, though; most specifically, WHY ISN'T ANDRE LEON TALLEY DOING THE RED CARPET COVERAGE?!

Nicholas Kirkwood's spring collection at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Photo: MTV Style

To say we're bananas about shoes is an understatement. Give us sky-high platforms, wooden clod-hoppers, sparkle oxfords, or neon yellow heel warriors and we're beaming with everlasting joy. Give us a pair designed by Nicholas Kirkwood, however, and we're gone. Finito. Passed out under the table. You guys, Nicholas Kirkwood's heels, nay works of art, are so bazonkers amazing, we need to break out the smelling salts when a new collection debuts. And once you see them in person and/or feel their gloriousness on your feet—like we did last night at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan (*squee*)—their beauty becomes three-dimensional yet still totally unreal. Mr. Kirkwood himself was in attendance from his native Britain to debut the spring collection, and from the lines of well-heeled ladies waiting to get a moment of his time to the oohing and ahhhing over a pair of scribbled flower color block platforms, we knew we died and went to shoe heaven.

Blake Lively and Chloë Moretz attend the Jason Wu for Target launch in New York City.

The Jason Wu for Target collection is almost here! We're seriously getting antsy about the Feb. 5 launch date and are expecting a shopping EVENT reminiscent of the Great Missoni Frenzy of 2011. We've already waxed poetical (aka gushed with our typing fingers) about how much we want everything in the collection, especially anything involving the collection's mascot, Milu the mischievous black cat. There was a private launch event for the line in New York City last night attended by Blake Lively and Chloë Moretz , who both wore Jason Wu . Now that we've seen actual pieces from the line on a person (hi, Miss Moretz), we're officially combusting in our office chairs. Will we—or ANY of us—be able to get our hands on this black and white magic?

The Sundance Film Festival kicked off this weekend, and as usual, the style spotting involved a parade of boots and cozy chic. If there's one event where celebs can throw some fun into their wardrobe while exuding total comfort and 'dorbsness, it's Sundance. And what better way to accentuate your jeans (which are the norm in mountainous Utah) than with a stylish sweater? Usually there's no shortage of Ugg(h)s, skinnies, and Park City parkas, but this year the ladies mixed it up with some seriously kewl sweater sass that we're all set to steal. Elizabeth Olsen paired black booties and brown legging cords with a vintage Versace-esque tiger sweater. Victoria Justice layered a muli-striped cropped sweater over a black tee and skinny jeans, and accentuated the red in her sweater with matching knee-high socks (kudos on style and cold-weather function). We were thrilled to see Liv Tyler looking lovely in cascading brunette rivulets and a killer Balenciaga sweater that we'd be wearing right now if we'd won the lottery. Oh, and they weren't the only ones all knitted out...

Tonight's People's Choice Awards officially kicked off the whirlwind season of step and repeats, sequins, beading, and major red carpet FASHION. As expected, the fan-driven PCAs coaxed the year's brightest starlets of film, television, and music out in droves. From Lea Michele to Chloë Moretz to Demi Lovato (who were ALL also People's Choice Award winners), the red carpet arrivals glittered with a grip of covetable looks, and these are our top 10 ensembles of the night. Let's go.

LEA MICHELE IN MARCHESA

Since opulent evening-wear haus Marchesa dressed her at last year's Emmy Awards, Lea Michele opted for the designer again for the PCAs. The Glee star pushed her locks to one side for an asymmetrical old Hollywood 'do with a deep side part, minus the finger waves. The wink to retro beauty was the perfect complement to her stark white '20s Art Deco-inspired beaded fringe dress.

We're going to go ahead and call it. When it comes to People's Choice Awards fashion it's all about GANG GREEN in 2012. Vibrant shades of kelly, emerald, and jade dominated the red carpet on no less than FIVE lovely ladies who shimmered in all their jewel-escent glory in everything from fitted sheaths to lady tuxedos (Hi, Emma Stone. YOU WIN. Won? Yes, all of the above!) From Nina Dobrev's elegant cocktail number to Chloë Moretz's bright green, black, and white bouclé situation, we learned that green is most definitely the color to envy.

The idea of staying up with your closest friends and loved ones until the stroke of midnight (or ACHEM too long past it...anyone else STILL super tired and broken? *raises hand feebly*) to ring in the new year is so fecund with glamour and anticipation and sparkle magic jubilee that New Year's Eve is one of those holidays that DEMANDS a fabulous outfit to properly celebrate it. It's just something that will always be true no matter how many eons pass. As always, a few of our favorite fashionistas took the idea to heart, breaking out their glitziest outfits for the occasion. From Lady Gaga's slinky silver gown to Rihanna's chic sheer overlayed frock, here are our five favorite gowns from the grand kickoff of the new year.

LADY GAGA

Lady Gaga was a vision of updated glamour in a silver floor-length satin dress. The gown featured a figure-flattering boned bodice draped with fringe (very roaring '20s meets 18th century burlesque) and an hourglass silhouette. Mother Monster sparkled as bright as the Times Square ball with an inspired circular masked headdress, embellished gloves, and a web of rhinestone roping used to accentuate the gown's lines.

That headline seems almost head-smackingly "DUHHHH," right? I mean, if I were attending, let alone performing for, an event with "DIVAS" in the name, a word so fecund with high-maintenance, red-clawwed, femme dominance, OF COURSE, I'd bury myself in yards of metallics, fur stoles, and the world's butteriest leathers. Florence Welch, Jessie J, and Mary J. Blige are already, day-to-day, three of the most show-stoppingly clothed ladies of late, so we expected nothing short of being totally floored by their VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul outfits. Much to our delight, the trifecta did not disappoint, pulling out all the attention-commanding stops for their red carpet and (*cough* multiple) performance looks for an ascent to ear-poppingly dramatic FASHUN.

RED CARPET

Florence Welch glittered down the red carpet in a sequin-drenched white-nude dress from the Antonio Berardi spring 2012 collection. As if being steeped in shimmer were not enough, her long-sleeved mock turtleneck dress also featured an eye-catching full mullet hem. Jessie J dared to wear one of Falguni & Shane Peacock's notoriously provocative creations from the spring 2012 line. The black and gold gown is panelled with sheer black fabric of varying degrees of transluscent and emblazoned with ornate and *achem* strategically placed gold embellishments. Originally a midi-length, Jessie added the lower black ruffle to extend the dress to floor-length. Mary J. wore head-to-toe fall 2011 Michael Kors, pairing a slinky ruched nude gown splattered with rhinestones under a MASSIVE blonde fur jacket.

Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, and Bruno Mars clean up at the Grammy Awards nominations concert.
Photo: Getty Images/WireImage

Do you smell that? Those notes of celebratory effervescence, salty tears of joy, and the unmistakable scent of heavy metals? It's the subtle trace of "awards show season" wafting through the air, bubbling up our anticipation of the glittering red carpet parades to come after the new year. Last night's ceremonious Grammy Nominations Concert Live may have just been a prelude to February's actual Grammy Awards, but it has sufficiently whet our appetites for all the ensembles set to hit the step-repeat in just over a month. Chief among the night's stylish stars were Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, and Bruno Mars, all of whom ALSO cleaned up with big-ticket nominations.

OK, holiday party people, the season is officially in full swing! What does this mean? Oh, just a number of party photos of celebrities wearing fancy Santa hats, street-style shots of peeps in their cutest woolen coats, and retailers shining light on their stores by actually holding events that involve shiny lights. Stella McCartney kicked off the fashionable holiday season in London-town with her own store-lighting ceremony that drew the likes of Alexa Chung, Kate Moss, and (ZOMG, GASPING FOR AIR AT THE MOST AMAZING OF AMAZING CRAW-FACE HOLIDAY BALLSNESS EVAH) Miss Edina Monsoon, aka Jennifer Saunders in character as Monsoon from the hit British TV show Absolutely Fabulous (aka one of the best shows ever in the history of television). Apologies for the ALL CAPS and super emosh effusiveness but, you guys, have you seen this show? We need to discuss this as well as the insane amount of lights Ms. McCartney used on the front of her store's building.
