Lil' Kim attends The Blonds Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show.

Last night's The Blonds show brought more than the rousing gem-encrusted numbers of David and Phillipe's newest collection. Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s Big Momma, Lil' Kim made a MAY-JOR appearance in the New York Fashion Week front row. Kimmy Blanco has been making quite the splash over the past few months with her mounting beef with Nicki Minaj and teasing out new music, so we wonder if this Blonds VIP treatment might forecast a Lil' Kim resurgence of EPIC glitter-drenched proportions. The fashion label is, after all, responsible for some of the most statement-making performance pieces, once even outfitting Kim's nemesis herself.

While the Queen Bee's front row togs were no 1999 VMAs mermaid pastie moment (it IS winter after all), she pulled up to the anticipated show looking decidedly regal. In a stark white body-con skirt, HEAVILY bedazzled nude top (with a very on-trend high neck, BTW), and glam-tastic maribou feather-laden shoulders, an ensemble from The Blonds' spring 2012 collection (that was specially altered for her), Kim looked every bit the living legend. Also, (ajakldfhaljkg!!!!) we sat DIRECTLY BEHIND HER. While the paps went bonkers and made some ungentlemanly remarks (among them the request for her to uncross her legs), Kim remained poised. And while some part of us longs for the Kim who would forgo the flesh colored bodysuit and just show up wearing a gang of gems on her torso (especially since "flesh colored" is the most subjective ish ever) we are totally ready for a new album and like this elegant look. So, what do you guys think? The Notorious K.I.M.'s white ensemble, love it or lump it?

anna sui nyfw fall 2012

A model tableau opens Anna Sui's Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show.
Photo: Getty Images

Leave it to Anna Sui to throw some sunny happiness on these New York Fashion Week proceedings. Her fall 2012 show was all about bright color, vivid florals, owls (*hoot*), and the happiest models we've ever seen. From the opening model tableau to the parade of sprites with spring in their steps, the collection was all about schoolyard Kool-Aid fun times with a dash of '60s styling, some '70s inspiration, and enough argyle sassiness to start a pep rally (holla). Did we mention the show also included Sui's new handbag collaboration with Coach? And that she's designing bedding for spring? It was all so brash and jovial that we (and most of Twitter) decreed it the most delightful show at #NYFW.

Proenza Schouler

We'll always have a soft spot for Proenza Schouler. Not only are designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez quite possibly the cutest fashion duo in NYC, but they never fail to impress from season to season with fresh silhouettes and tons of texture. Their fall 2012 collection was filled with Asian-inspired boxy asymmetrical jackets, shiny metallics, and edgy chinoiserie. The show started off with oversized exposed zipper coats that resembled straitjackets paired with extra wide leg trousers and uncombed hair. Then, the collection transitioned into an almost futuristic schoolgirl look with boxy burgundy and navy sweaters over collared shirts paired with super-short wrap metallic miniskirts. Up next was a full-on leather overload with one head-to-toe hide ensemble after another. From jumpsuits to car coats to skirts to trousers—nothing was left unleatherfied. (We might've just made up that word.) Personally, we LOVED the patterned drop-waist dresses in chic plaid patterns because they are totally wearable and work as a statement piece on their own.

Marchesa Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week.
Photo: Getty Images

While I don't get many (read: any) excuses to wear Marchesa, there's such a stately female elegance that comes with the name and each forthcoming collection that keeps the label as my red carpet go-to in all my most opulent daydreams. The luxurious materials, breath-taking silhouettes, and the regalness of their signature filigree aesthetic over sheer panels is enough to have you back in Pampers imagining your life as a royalty, wearing layers of tulle to the breakfast table. Tonight's New York Fashion Week showing fell right in step with all of that, exhibiting markedly Marchesa finesse with winks at a few McQueen sensibilities.

shenae grimes jessica alba amber heard new york fashion week

We are in the final stretch of New York Fashion Week and are starting to feel the effects of nonstop, never-ending assaults of fashion fancy (*eyes popping out of head*). Oh, yeah, and celebs du jour! Who's been at the shows lately? TV cutie Shenae Grimes popped by the Emerson show wearing a midriff-baring cream cropped sweater, shiny black spandex, and what is perhaps the best blowout we've ever seen. Jessica Alba sashayed to the front row of the Michael Kors show in a body-hugging teal sheath dress with a black bodice harness, candy apple lips, and weather-appropriate black tights and heels. Amber Heard also attended the Kors show and chose a white knee-length dress with a wide black lace waistband. Not only was it refreshing to see her in something that wasn't floor length (girl loves to cover up), we were into the black strappy heels and au naturel makeup. Kimberly Ovitz Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week.
Photo: Getty Images

All right New York Fashion Week. We get it. It's becoming all too obvious that next fall/winter will be dominated by LOADS of furry hairy looks. And not just in your conventional coat shapes either. We'll get into it more at the end of the week with our trends wrap-ups, but this particular instance is begging to be singled out. The majority of Kimberly Ovitz's fall 2012 collection was long-lined, drapey urbanwear with sprinklings of sheers and knubbly sweaters, but a few looks were dressed with choice long-haired accessories. While most of them were slung crossbody, adding some interesting dimension to the outfit, this lucky model was outfitted with her own weave-adorned choker. We're not sure what the vision was behind this neck beard, but we do know that it's distracting from the rest of this gold lurex outfit. Also, if you add a Fu Manchu, this girl is a little bit channeling Confucius, AMIRITE??

Angela Simmons Snooki Fashion Week

In case you haven't noticed, Angela Simmons has been KILLIN' IT at Fashion Week, and yesterday was no different! We spotted her in the front row of the Bebe show, but then—gasp—we also noticed Snooki seated beside her. Yuussss. The Jersey Shore girls never miss their chance to be front and center at NYFW (see: Sammi Sweetheart last season), and Snooks even wore a Bebe dress at the Grammys this weekend. But, you guys, look! They match! Both front row girls sported an entirely azure blue, black, and maroon ensemble. 'Dorbs! Angela went glam in a multi-colored sequin jacket, black liquid leggings, suede blue clutch, and matching nails, while Snooki went more casual cool in an oversized azure blouse with black leggings and a giant birdcage bow headband. Her red-tinted strands match Angela's jacket for an overall so-well-coordinated couple ensemble we can barely handle it. Both gals opted for soft eye makeup, but Snooki went for a nude lip while Angela went for a dramatic deep burgundy pout. We love seeing these girls together, and, um, they BOTH have shiny waves for days. Want to see even more celebs at Fashion Week? Check out our full photo gallery below!

Marc By Marc Jacobs

Looks from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week on Feb. 14.

After seeing Marc Jacobs' pimped out, pilgrim-inspired NYFW show on Monday, we weren't sure WHAT to expect from his Marc by Marc Jacobs line. But we were oddly surprised at the straightforward streamlined collection, which featured tons of World War II meets '80s punk rock ensembles. Marc stuck to a mostly red, white, and blue palette with lots of blacks, grays, a few metallic pieces, and—get this—RAT TAILS! In his first ensemble, he took the workman's jumpsuit and transformed it into a more fitted, wearable wardrobe staple by adding a tailored button waist and feminine neckline. He put a striped black, white, and red shirt underneath for a pop of color and finished the look with a military-style hat and heavy black motorcycle boots. Up next was an art deco navy blue and red printed shift dress with a black fur coat, gray socks, military-style boots, and thick plastic-rim glasses.

Celebs At Fashion Week

Dakota Fanning, Kristin Cavallari, and Leighton Meester at New York Fashion W.
Photo: Getty Images

It's that time again! More New York Fashion Week shows means even more amazingly-dressed celebs. Over the past couple of days, we've peeped front row ensembles on Dakota Fanning, Kristin Cavallari, and Leighton Meester. Dakota stopped by the Rodarte show in a space-age gold and sea foam green wrap shirt paired with matching pants, sparkly silver shoes and an uh-mazing book clutch. This romantic-meets-futuristic outfit totally gave us Princess Leia vibes, and then *gasp* WE NOTICED THAT GEORGE LUCAS WAS THERE! We have absolutely no idea why the Star Wars creator stopped by a Rodarte show, but we are so not mad. We hope there's some crazy collab in the works. *crosses fingers*

J.Crew Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week.
Photo: Getty Images

Despite going through many, MANY fashion phases in my lifetime thus far, the one thing that has remained consistent is a preppy bass line. I'm a sucker for a clean line, a collared shirt, and a great trouser. Naturally, brushes with J.Crew in any capacity send me into a dizzying prep-gasm. This morning's Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week presentation did not disappoint. President/Creative Director extraordinaire Jenna Lyons employs a '70s rec room color palette for her latest autumn/winter collection of dresses and professional separates, blessing it all with her Midas styling touch, namely heavy-handed layering and fearless print mixing.

LAYER UP

J.Crew may have skimped on the hosiery, but Jenna ain't no fool. This season is COLD! Instead of tights, she presents a grip of tailored trouser options in enough colors and prints to make your head spin and skirt hemlines extend to below or just above the knee. Pieces are layered one, two, three times over with collared shirts sitting under thinner sweaters and all under blazers (and coats!). Short-sleeve tops are constructed thicker and worn over printed long-sleeves and turtlenecks. The combinations are endless, just make sure you're balancing your lines and weights of fabrics.
