Prints and pastels were a Spring 2013 treat at Nanette Lepore.

Bright eyes, bright prints and bright detailing on everything from shoes to belts dominated at Nanette Lepore's Spring 2013 show at New York Fashion Week today. One of our favorite trends from this season's shows has been electric, pastel colors swept across eyes--we saw a more subdued, cat eye version at Alice + Olivia as well--and the Lepore lids were one of our favorite iterations yet. Opaque color reaching to just below the brow made the models eyes pop, whether it was in metallic peach, blue, or white. Moving from the top down, silhouettes were modern and airy, with one shoulder pieces, halters, keyholes, and more flowing into looks so bursting with prints that it looked like they were made of rainbow sherbet. After this show, we have officially found our personal color for Spring 2013 (but don't hold us to it because we like to be able to change our minds), and it's melon. Warm, orangey pink, we can't get enough. We were also wild about the mixed pastel plaids we saw on Brazilian Girls' frontwoman Sabine Sciubba, who performed her signature smooth, tropical tunes for the entirety of the show.

Diesel Black Gold

Riding high off the luxe leopards and leathers of last season and the rich metallic experimentations of the preceding spring/summer collection, Diesel Black Gold went for an extra specific inspiration this Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week. Creative Director Sophia Kokosalaki looked to the Josh Brolin '80s skateboarding flick Thrashin' (often alternately referred to as Skate Gang) as the cultural muse for this, her last collection with Diesel Black Gold. The movie, if you haven't seen it, takes place in '80s L.A. and centers around Brolin's character Corey Webster, his crew "The Ramp LOCALS" who are characterized by their feathered bangs and faded neons, and the run-ins they have with the other resident skate gang "The Daggers" - purveyors of many leathers and denims.

Katie Holmes and Jeanne Yang at their presentation for Holmes & Yang.
Photo: Getty

We were super stoked for Katie Holmes when we heard that Holmes & Yang, the collection that she designs with friend Jeanne Yang, would show at New York Fashion Week for the first time. Well, today was the day, and although the line's presentation was super intimate--only 150 people were permitted into the Box at Lincoln Center--the excitement was palpable in the lobby of fashion week HQ. We were walking backstage just before the presentation let out, and had to wade through a decently sized knot of photographers patiently awaiting the designer. As for the clothes themselves, (because that's what we're all here for, right?), they were prim without being stuff, clean without being sterile. Composed mostly of solid colored separates, Holmes & Yang is a completely wearable, modern line. Our one sadface about the presentation, however? Where was Suri?

Adam Lambert New York Fashion Week

Photo: Getty Images

Sure, we've seen TONS of celebs at fashion week sporting their finest designer duds all over Lincoln Center, but we hadn't seen anyone switch up their ensemble more than once a day until *drum roll* Mr. Adam Lambert. Yesterday he changed outfits not once, not twice, but THREE times within the daylight hours, and for that, we need to bow down, y'all. He started off his Tuesday wearing a distressed gray suit jacket paired with a black button-up shirt and brocade pants. He accessorized with spiky black boots, circle sunglasses (that he wore in his suit pocket), stacked rings, and silver earrings. His beauty game was on lock (per usual) with his sleek and styled silvery hair paired with dark brows, a bit of mascara, and black nail polish. Me-ow!

Falguni & Shane Peacock

Falguni & Shane Peacock isn't necessarily a household name (yet!), but if you're a purveyor of these here MTV Style pages, you have DEFINITELY seen the eye-buggingly major designs of this husband-and-wife design duo. These two reeeeally know how to entertain with an article of clothing, which makes them a natural red carpet go-to for fashion risk-takers and pretty young thangs like Demi Lovato, Jessie J, and Kat Graham. The couple is notorious for attention-demanding ensembles and experimenting from season to season with different textures, prints, and embellishments, but the one thing that remains constant is the fact that these two know how to bring the DRAMA to New York Fashion Week.

Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 collection.
Photo: Getty

After Marc Jacobs took us on a journey to the days of the mods with his namesake show last night, we were waiting not-so-patiently for the reveal of Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 2013 at New York Fashion Week today. The collection always produces some of the most covetable pieces of the season, and is usually a slightly more whimsical and wearable take on the Marc Jacobs collection show. This season was no different--we saw echoes of Marc's stripes and bold patterns, but everything from the shapes, to the colors, to the textures was youthful and fun in the way his previous night's show was grown up and clean. The stripes, which we saw on suits and trenches at Marc Jacobs, were reinvented in slightly softer tones for Marc by Marc, and put on dresses and men's button downs. It was great. But that's not the most important thing we have to discuss here, oh no. We need to talk about scarves.

Vera Wang Spring 2013

Looks from the Vera Wang spring 2013 New York Fashion Week show on Sept. 11.

First off, whoa. When we hear the name "Vera Wang," we immediately think of long, flowy pieces mostly, um, of the wedding gown variety. We can't help it! Vera is just incredibly talented at creating the perfect dress silhouette, and when it comes to the big day, she SHINES. We peeped her spring 2012 NYFW collection today, and, man, we were HELLA surprised. We were expecting dreamy dresses and floral frocks, but instead we were hit with lots of—gasp—shorts. Now, don't get us wrong—there were still quite a few dresses in the mix, but we couldn't get over these '90s-sportwear-meets-Victorian-lady ensembles. Most of Vera Wang's looks were comprised of head-to-toe monochrome color, and we are SO into that. In the first look, she revamped a typical tuxedo jacket into high-neck, button-up peplum top, which she paired with skin-tight shorts that hit just above the knee. The entire ensemble was a glowing cobalt and teal brocade print that we LOVE, and the messy updo made the overall look less uptight.

Dresses at the Alice + Olivia Spring 2013 presentation.
Photo: Getty

Sparkles, dramatic lines, and colored eyeliner were all in full effect at the Alice + Olivia Spring 2013 presentation at New York Fashion Week yesterday, and all in the best way. Also in present in great quantities were some of our favorite celebs, many of whom we have seen on the red carpet in the brand before. As was the case with Marc Jacobs' show for his namesake line last night, the first thing we thought when we stepped into the presentation yesterday was 'retro.' With dramatic, floor skimming a-line gowns; fluttery chiffon; and short, structured dresses, all straight out of a more modern Mad Men. All cinched waists and classic feminine shapes, the collection was every stars dream, with dresses that would look as incredible on the red carpet as they do in the designer's showroom. While the collection as a whole was quite prim, it was nowhere near being stuffy--the pieces maintained that undeniable sexiness that a perfectly fitted and constructed garment lends to a woman, bringing out the natural curves of her body without overpowering. The collection also avoided the trap of being too cute, while still being, well, cute. There were no little girl frills or ruffles here, and each dress was very clearly made for a woman, and wasn't just a big version of a whimsical princesses look (yuck). The makeup was also a highlight, where models wore thick cat eyes in electric blue, pure white and black of course. We totally want to try our hand at a bright blue cat eye sometime, we just need to figure out the right occasion. This makeup look is also giving us some ideas about what we want to try for the holidays. Gold cat eye, anyone? Yes please.

J.Crew

Can you believe it's only been a year now that fashion-forward retail giant J.Crew has been showing at New York Fashion Week? Yes, it's only been 365 days (well, roughly) since the Jenna Lyons/Mickey Drexler match-up made its Lincoln Center debut. (And though J.Crew has shown exclusively via presentation and not runway show thus far, that hasn't stopped MEGASTARS like Miss Beyonce Knowles) from showing support. And judging from the brand's marked evolution of the collections from season to season while still keeping true to the J.Crew signatures (namely excellent tailoring and a massive sucker punch of color), it's not hard to see why.

Sammi Sweetheart

These days it seems like ALL the Jersey Shore girls have been inching their way into the fashion world—JWOWW launched her Filthy Couture line back in 2010, Snooki has been KILLIN' it in the accessories department (sunglasses, flip-flops, slippers—you name it!), and now Sammi is finally making her stylish debut. The Jersey Shore girl launched her own fitness line (called The Sammi Sweetheart Collection) in conjunction with SXE Fitness at New York Fashion Week yesterday, and we were there to watch it all go down from the front row.
