Kristen Stewart Balenciaga

When we found out Kristen Stewart would be the new face of Balenciaga's perfume earlier this year, we basically fuh-reaked out. I mean, we can TOTALLY get behind K Stew making her mark in the fashion and beauty world because, um, hiiii that's basically combining the two things we love most (celebs and fashion!). Even though we've peeped the Florabotanica campaign and heard the Twilight star dish on all-things beauty and fragrance, we still can't get enough of this killer collab. Thankfully, Balenciaga is blessing us with one of the biggest/best gifts we'll receive ALL year—a live interview with Ms. Stewart herself! Eeeee!

Cher Lloyd

Let's all give a slow clap for Cher Lloyd, shall we? After all, the former U.K. X-Factor contestant (and last week's PUSH Artist!) is responsible for one of THE most addictive songs of the summer, the super catchy pop anthem "Want U Back." Overflowing with coy, confident "brattitude," (not a real term, but who cares?), the video combines Cher's killer vocals and pouty lyrics with a flirty fashion parade of shimmery bandeau tops, leather skirts, and piles of charm jewelry. Clearly this is a girl who KNOWS what she's doing- and lucky for us, she's willing to share her style secrets! Just in time for the release of her debut U.S. album Sticks + Stones, the 19-year-old stopped by MTV to talk all things fashion. Dressed in a customized denim jacket and embellished Chuck Taylors, Cher had a LOT to say about regrettable outfit choices, following trends, and why it's important to bring tons of underwear on the road. Check out our video interview with Cher Lloyd below!

No Doubt

Rainbow colored hair, bindis, and a major case of the crop tops... No Doubt has seen some seriously EPIC style moments over the years! We all know that nobody can touch Gwen's tank and loose pants steez (even way back when she was just a teenager!), and to this day she's still killing that signature sporty style both onstage and off. The guys aren't too shabby either, repping patterned suits, varsity jackets and Docs now with the same OC attitude we've loved ever since the Tragic Kingdom days. Bottom line: we can wax nostalgic about the band's biggest fash moments FOREVER, but we'd much rather hear it from the members themselves. So let's take a trip down No Doubt memory lane, why don't we? Just in time for their new album Push And Shove (out now!), Gwen, Tony, Adrian and Tom popped by MTV to rehash their coolest, craziest, and most memorable style memories from back in the day when stylists weren't a thing and hot pink hair was the norm. See it allll go down in the 'MTV News: Fashion Flashback' below!

We were SO stoked when we found out Alicia Keys would be debuting her first-ever Reebok Classics collection earlier this month—her limited-edition sneaks included everything from black studded high-tops (our fave!) to bold, tribal-printed Freestyles to piano-key covered kicks. After peeping all the shoes, we knew we had to get more details behind the killer collection, and, lucky for us, we got to check out the kicks up close AND chat with Ms. Alicia Keys herself! Spoiler alert: She's awesome. Alicia told us she's been a longtime fan of the Reebok Classics brand (specifically those 5411s!) and always had a dream to design her own pair. Thanks to her hubby Swizz Beatz working as the creative director for the sneaker company and her mega-appreciation for killer shoes, her dream became a reality! She also revealed that—gasp—she has even more Reebok Classics coming out in the near future, so don't worry—we'll have tons more high-tops to drool over. Watch Alicia talk about her collection below, including how the collab came together, what type of girl she designed these shoes for, and how her "inner sneaker freak" has finally come alive!

Solange

Solange on the set of her "Losing You" teaser video.
Photo: MTV

Here at MTV Style, it's pretty clear that we unabashedly LOVE Solange. Honestly, we can't get enough of her. Sure, she's already a very busy girl, fronting Madewell for fall, sitting front row at New York Fashion Week, blogging outfits for Vogue UK, and you know, being a MOM, but we're always hungry for more, especially when it crosses her immaculate fashion sense with her MUSIC. She's been a kind of go-to DJ for her fair share of fashion parties, but Solange has refrained from making music of her own for the past four or so years. That's why when we caught wind that our MTV Style patron saint would be releasing her first album since 2008's Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams, we immediately glued our ears to the ground for every subsequent update.

Solange's latest music project is a brand new album called Losing You, brought to the world thanks to a helping production hand from Dev Hynes a.k.a. Blood Orange (as if this thing couldn't get any better, AMIRITE???). Our massive, throbbing girl crush on Solange led us smack in the middle of her Losing You teaser video shoot in artist Mickalene Thomas's beautiful Brooklyn studio, enveloped by a detailed set designed by Thomas herself and going all cartoon wolf-eyes for the racks on racks on racks of sartorial deliciousness - Suno and Kenzo and DVF, oh my!

Wild Belle

Photo: Courtesy of Wild Belle

Wild Belle first crossed our radar early this year when we caught wind of the Chicago brother-sister duo at SXSW and have remained firmly planted in our iTunes ever since. Elliot and Natalie Bergman have a killer stage presence, ridiculous style, and a funky R&B-meets-blues music backbone that takes them from buzz band to Next Big Thing. After making several Fashion Week appearances this season (including a performance to a packed industry crowd), the band continued their style streak with a brand new video for "It's Too Late," in which Natalie works bellbottoms, crop tops, and platforms with enough slinky '70s swagger to make even the Charlie's Angels jealous. On the cusp of their North American tour, we talked with Natalie about the video's inspiration, her obsession with Burberry, and why Wild Belle keeps fashion in the family.

Asher Levine Spring 2013

Mini MTV Style history lesson: We've been obsessed with designer Asher Levine since we first chatted him up back in 2010. The then-22 year old was already designing outfits for Lady Gaga (HUGE!), and just last year he collabed with Mother Monster's fashion director Nicola Formichetti on a line of tees that sold at his pop-up shop in Soho. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, spring 2013 fashion week hit, and we found ourselves on yacht (yeah, a YACHT) with Asher himself discussing all the deets behind his latest fashion show—which, lucky for us, would include a live performance by one of our hip-hop faves, Le1f!

Christian Siriano New York Fashion Week

Looks from Christian Siriano's spring/summer 2013 collection at New York Fashion Week on Sept. 8.
Photo: Getty Images

Unlike Christian Siriano's dark and vampy fall 2012 collection, his spring 2013 runway was filled with tons of light pink, baby blue and seafoam green pastel pieces that screamed summer. His line included everything from work-ready pearl-accented peplum dresses to button-up brocade jumpsuits to flowy landscape print frocks. Between the tutu silhouettes, soft high buns, and blaring remixed classical music during the show, the inspiration behind the collection was clear—it was ALL about the ballet. When we caught up with Christian backstage, he told us this season's looks were about being "romantic and pretty" and inspired by the American Ballet Theatre's Dream Ballet. "It's kind of an adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream—so very dreamlike, very whimsical," he said. "The whole collection really has that kind of ballet dancer feeling." Ah ha! We knew we were onto something.

Nasty Gal

We chatted with Sophia Amoruso at Nasty Gal's Fashion Week party.
Photo: MTV

It's no secret that we LOVE Nasty Gal here at MTV Style. From off-kilter back-to-school buys to early trend trys the Cali-based online retailer is a definite go-to around these parts. You can imagine, then, how ECSTATIC we were to be invited to the burgeoning brand's New York Fashion Week party - a celebration for both the Nasty Gal debut collection AND the launch of their print magazine Super Nasty! We EVEN got to chat with founder Sophia Amoruso (our collective idol and girl crush) about all the exciting news. #DEAD

Video Music Awards stage

The 2012 VMA stage.
Photo: John Shearer/Invision for MTV

It’s eerily quiet in the Staples Center the day before the 2012 Video Music Awards. We’ve got rehearsals all day but it’s lunchtime and the countless crew members and producers that just moments ago milled in clusters in front of screens and cameras have dispersed for a bite. It’s freezing because the ACs are cranked to a billion--as is the wont of such cavernous spaces where burly dudes lift things--but I gotta say, it’s beautiful in here.

The main stage features three monstrous LED screens that create a curved landscape, not unlike an IMAX screen, and the projected images change from a hyper saturated mountain vista to futuristic videogame terrains. In front is a crystalline canopy that glows in various colors and to its right (as in stage right) there’s another set of angular shards. On the left, to switch it up, is a series of thin, long, LED cylinders upon which you can project other images and colors. Inspired by kid’s string art (the yarn version of macaroni art where you thread colored string to nails on a wood panel), it looks sorta like a really big harp that juts out towards you like some cubist Sydney Opera House. The whole thing reminds me of a rave flyer version of Superman’s fortress of solitude. Except that it’s not Kal-El’s quiet place so much as it is the MUSIC PARTY EVENT OF THE YEAR.
