Grimes Gets The Ladylike Treatment For 'T'

Claire Boucher, is that you?! We're used to seeing Grimes wearing everything from witchy capes to ripped tights onstage, but scarves, gloves, and retro silhouettes? Eh, not so much. This is why we're so surprised—and excited—to see the Canadian musician showing off her versatile fashion chops for T magazine, proving that '50s-inspired ensembles work just as well on an indie music star as they do in Pleasantville soda shops. In this fashionable ode to "ladies who lunch," Grimes wears a Celine top, skirt, and scarf paired with accessories courtesy of U.K. designer JW Anderson. The prim, ladylike look is a far cry from her t-shirt and jeans uniform, but we've got to admit—she looks gooood.

While most of us are busy brainstorming seriously epic costumes (no pressure or anything, right?), our favorite style stars are getting into the Halloween spirit about two weeks early. Um, hi overachievers! Vanessa Hudgens, Brandy and model Cara Delevingne all turned out recently wearing spooky, Halloween-inspired skulls and Beetlejuice stripes. There's no question that skulls have been an "It" motif for several seasons now, thanks to that Alexander McQueen bone scarf a few years back and creeptastic offerings from designers like Prabal Gurung. Our girl Vanessa Hudgens showed her own take on the trend last night, wearing the "Love Skull" sweater from Wildfox Couture. We love how the skull's heart-shaped eyes, sequins, and pops of pink make the pullover cheekily cute, NOT scary.

Sky Ferreira Talks Debbie Harry Style, Giant T-Shirts, And 'Everything Is Embarrassing' Fashion

She's sat front row at dozens of fashion shows, made cameos in more magazines than we can even count, and rolled out not just one but TWO glossy, slick-looking music videos this summer. Needless to say, not much can faze Sky Ferreira. However, yesterday we witnessed a rare Sky first as she performed on the S.S. Yankee docked in the Hudson River for her inaugural CMJ . It should go without saying that she totally rocked the boat (heh), belting out tracks from her new Ghost EP, but she looked killer doing so dressed in a cropped sweater, black skirt, and leather ankle boots. Just before Sky hit the stage- sorry, cabin- we sat down with the singer to quiz her on music video fashion, gigantic t-shirts, and ultimate schoolgirl style icons. Katy Perry Is Right On Trend In Her Denim Jacket With Sweater Sleeves, And You Can Get The Look!

We may spend a lot of time talking about Katy Perry's performance and red carpet style, but don't think we don't know that the singer has some killer street style game as well. She may be a fan of outrageous hair and killer nails, but Katy also goes casual sometimes, but she's always totally on trend. Most recently we've seen her wearing the crap out of one of our favorite trends, which is the classic denim jacket with a twist: sweater sleeves. In a sea of leather--be it denim and leather hybrids or straight up Grease style biker jackets--the denim jacket is a staple that can be endlessly customized to fit the wearers personal style. We could go on for days about acid wash and paint and embroidery, but today, it's the sweater sleeve that we're most interested in. Katy's particular jacket, which incorporates not only sweater sleeves but also bleach spots and fraying, is Free People's 'Cypress' Denim Sweater Sleeve Jacket, and you can buy it from Nordstrom for $198. There are a number of more wallet friendly options after the jump, and we'll also tell you the super easy way to hack this trend with things you might already have in your closet.

Check Out Lana Del Rey's Winter H&M Campaign Images

Sometimes when you hear that an artist has been tapped to be the face of a brand, that just means a wham bam campaign, some images, maybe a billboard, and then done. H&M, however, are showing off their girl Lana Del Rey in a campaign that's as multifaceted as the singer herself. What started out as a rumor bubbling up from the depths of the online fashion universe has quickly transformed into a holiday campaign, an awesome video, a live performance and now, a winter campaign. The cool blue images feature Lana in one of her favorite retro pin-up girl poses: leaned against a car staring into the camera with what you can't quite be sure aren't daggers. Leather-look leggings, oversized sweaters and even a fur vest make appearances in the campaign, which combines urban chic with an almost apres-ski vibe, particularly through cropped down parkas with cinched waists. It's refreshing to see a campaign that looks so editorial--in fact, the photos are actually more interesting than a lot of Lana's past editorials, combining dramatic set styling with ultra modern clothes, while still staying true to Lana's vintage, nostalgic aesthetic. The double denim look is a notoriously tricky one. Often referred to as the "Texas Tuxedo" (or sometimes the "Canadian Tuxedo"), wearing denim on denim is a bold style move with the distinct potential to go very, very wrong. But sometimes, and BELIEVE us when we say this is extremely rare even for the most famous of celebrities (see Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa the 2001 American Music Awards for indubitable proof) a freak fashion plate like the lovely Hailee Steinfeld takes the risk and knocks it right out of the park.

Emma Watson, Kiernan Shipka, Anna Kendrick And More Shine At The 'Elle' Women In Hollywood Party

Transitional dressing is hard for everyone, but for the red carpet? Not only are the stakes higher, the competition more fierce, and the flashbulbs FAR more plentiful, but there are also just so many options. Do you go dark, the way many New Yorkers purge their wardrobe of all color the minute the first leaf hits the pavement? Or do you go ultra bright, in chilly-day-warming jewel tones and little hints of the summer that has just passed? The Elle Women In Hollywood party was last night, and its red carpet had many awesome examples of both methods for mid-fall dressing. In the first camp, Emma Watson, Kiernan Shipka, and Anna Kendrick went darker (Kiernan playing with black and white), while Emma Stone, Kristen Wiig, and Nina Dobrev went ultra-bright.

Emma Watson looked chic but still relaxed, her signature blend of laid back and edgy, in a black structured cocktail dress with a nude accent and layered construction. Paired with a pair of strappy, geometric heels and centerparted, pulled-back hair, the look was still a little light for the colder months, but just right for right now. Kiernan Shipka proved that she's growing up so fast (but not too fast) in a sweet black and white dress featuring a demure little collar and peplum. Her blonde hair, stick straight and center parted, and black pointed toe shoes looked elegant and age-appropriate. Anna Kendrick went for the vampier, more fall black look, in an ornate bustier dress and platform heels, her hair cascading around her shoulders in light waves. All three women got the delicate balance of darkness and light just right, looking October appropriate, but not at all Halloweeny.

Celebrities: they're just like us! OK, maybe not. But we've got one thing in common with our favorite music stars, and that's a serious Topshop obsession. Demi Lovato's been sporting the U.K. megabrand on the X-Factor all summer long, and now Carly Rae Jepsen is giving her a run for her money with her own wardrobe. The "Call Me Maybe" singer performed at Comedy Central's "Night Of Too Many Stars" event last night, rocking not one but TWO very different Topshop outfits. She arrived wearing the brand's Embossed Skater Dress, a not-so-basic LBD with a mesh insert. It's a girly look for sure, but Carly toughened it up with a pair of heeled booties from- guess where- yep, Topshop.

We hate to say we told you so, but we TOTALLY called it! After seeing mysterious photos pop up on Iggy Azalea's Twitter a couple months back, featuring the Aussie rapper showing off House of Holland sunglasses, we wondered if a campaign was in the works. Turns out we were right— the images have officially dropped! And yes, they're absolutely amazing. The emerging hip hop star is working her modeling chops in a huge way, showing off House of Holland's debut collection of shades against a bright blue Los Angeles sky.

When it comes to best friends, it really doesn't get any cooler than Azealia Banks and Cara Delevingne. Besides the fact that these two girls are absolutely KILLING it in their respective industries, they also always have a ton of fun wherever they go, whether it's impromptu funny photoshoots, spontaneous beauty change-ups, or more recently, this weekend's epic Mermaid Ball. We all know Azealia loooooves mermaids, so she threw a massive party at an aquarium in London to celebrate (and as a followup to the NYC and LA events that happened in the summer). Clearly it was an excuse to dress up, and Azealia and Cara didn't disappoint one bit. Azealia hinted on Twitter about her date, saying "@Caradelevingne is my date for the mermaid ball! We just had a fitting for our mermaid costumes!" so we knew these two would turn up in something amazing.
